That’s one — or maybe the most — favorite shot of my birthday party. It’s so spontaneous and the light makes me nostalgic about something that happened last weekend. #powershot #lightroom #digicam #buenosaires #birthday #houseparty

BW photos of my birthday house party taken by me and my friends on my Canon Powershot and edited on Adobe Lightroom :) very much inspired by House of Balloons (The Weeknd) and River (Miley Cyrus)

Tumblr media
I always loved photography but never could afford it that much so I lost lots of eras of pictures from social media — digicam on Fotolog, retro vibes on Tumblr, DSLR high quality and heavy edited photos on Instagram circa 2017, and all the Polaroid stuff — but now as an adult, since turned 25 recently, graduated and almost with a masters degree, I’m looking for jobs and can afford a thing or another.
To my birthday party I bought a cheap film flash-less point-and-shoot toy camera and relieved my Canon Powershot that my older sister gave to me in 2014 when I was 15 and that I underappreciated because of smartphones, and took photos with them and let my friends shot with them as they would want.
I edited the Powershot — by the way very 2000s — pics on Lightroom to look more like a disposable camera and now I’m looking for a platform that can be more than an ephemeral 10-words-description low-quality photo on Instagram that people will like but never revisit because I’m always oversharing there. I want a place just for the films and digicams photos, because as hard as I try, smartphone photos edited on Prequel on look the same as this harsh-shadow-harsh-light-unfocused-grainy look.
Smartphones sensors are becoming too good at looking the most flat and not sentimental moment. It’s ephemeral, just for a story, because maybe most part of people don’t want to overthink a storytelling to their pics and just want to register things (and there’s nothing wrong with it).
I never used Tumblr to be honest. But now in 2023, maybe for nostalgia (?), it looks pretty much as a 2000’s Fotolog website. I’m gonna test it and other things and see what I like in this new hobby of mine :)
