Tony stopped on his tracks, looking up from the phone where he’d been entertaining a text conversation with Rhodes. “Who, me?” He asked theatrically. It wasn’t hard to find the source of the call: kid standing stock still and awkward. “I’m messing with you. Of course it’s me. Autograph, I’m assuming?” He pocketed his phone and pulled out a Mont Blanc pen. “I don’t sign body parts unless you’re willing to promise you’ll make a tattoo out of it.” And at that, with the cocky-famous-guy routine being done with, Tony finally paused to take a good look at the kid. “I’ve seen you somewhere, haven’t I?” If yes, then judging by how old the kid appeared to be, it would have to have been through one of the Stark Industries internship programs, or SHIELD Academy or some other university Stark had guest lectured in recently. “Don’t tell me. Tooth brush commercial. Am I right? Oh — soap opera actor.” He snapped his fingers and chuckled lightly at his own joke.

(Okay, now, that was enough. He was starting to overcompensate for how nervous he was. These seemingly casual moments when people recognized him on the street didn’t always end well these days.)

“I’m kidding. I’d know your name if you’d been in any soap opera. Do you have one? A name?”

So there was a lot of heroes Billy had known in his own verse, even becoming one of them when he’d joined the young avengers. But none of that erased all the years he spent as a fanboy, geeking out over all the superheroes on billboards and tv. It’d become different with heroes like his mom, who he found out was family, and others who had become his friends or mentors. But then there was some heroes he’d only ever seen or worked with in passing, some he’d never even gotten to meet! Sure he was currently a student at SHIELD academy, and no one else seemed to geeking out over Tony Stark walking around. In fact, his pears would probably give him a look for his current geeking. But. But it was Tony Stark! “Hi!” He squeaked out, suddenly wondering if it would have been better to avoid attention and hide behind a tree. “I mean-” Would it be weird if he said thank you for being such a hero, and sacrificing your life for the world in the other universe I came from? or would I am such a big fan of your work, could I have an autograph? Be even weirder? So instead he settled on a lower, less squeaky. “Hi.”

Bucky looked up at the massive tower he passed almost everyday since returning home, the name Stark staring him in the face as a horrible reminder of what he’d done. He’d taken Tony Stark’s parents killed them without a second thought then fought their son for his life. At one point he’d even voiced how pointless that should’ve been given he didn’t even have a life worth living but he quickly pushed those thoughts aside he needed to make this right. He took a deep breath to try and center himself before walking up to the door, ringing the doorbell. “Stark….I know I’m probably the last person you want to see but…I think we need to talk…” He spoke into what he assumed was some form of camera.

“Incredibly busy right now, J.” He would have sounded impatient had he not been so focused on the screen in front of him. He’d missed four races of this year’s Formula 1 season so far and this was the day he decided he would be catching up on all of them. He’d rescheduled meetings for this. Stark’s sense of priority wasn’t always top notch or in sync with everyone else’s, but JARVIS understood enough of it by now to push back too hard. Which is why it was surprising when Vettel’s Ferrari disappeared from the screen, replaced by live footage from outside the Tower.

“What is this, should I be raising our DEFCON levels or--”

“Is that--?”

Yep, he should be raising DEFCON levels. He couldn’t fathom any reason other than imminent global catastrophe that would bring Barnes to his doorstep.

“Is he, is he armed?”

<<I’m not getting any hostile readings from him, sir.>>

“Are there aliens following him? Any new call to arms anywhere? Did I miss the start of some crisis?” (And by God, did it really have to happen on Formula 1 night?)

<<No, sir, some people just pay visits sometimes. It’s been known to happen.>>

Stark buzzed him in. He had enough presence of mind to close his box of half eaten pizza and shove it under the coffee table, where it was more out of sight, and he dusted some crumbs off the front of his T-shirt. He tapped the crown of his wristwatch to send a signal to one of the suits he had on stand-by for emergencies. You know, just in case. He eventually got notice from JARVIS that Barnes had reached the penthouse floor and would be exiting the elevator soon. Tony made a point to open the front door before Barnes could knock, like that was going to give him some kind of advantage.

“Did Rogers send you?” Tony asked, defensive and puzzled.

Have you ever noticed that ( ANTHONY STARK ) from the ( MARVEL ) looks a lot like ( ROBERT DOWNEY JR )? But ( HE ) also goes by ( IRON MAN ). Having the ability of ( GENIUS-LEVEL INTELLECT AND ROBOTIC SUIT OF ARMOR ) sure makes them a force to be reckoned with. Rumour has it they are (51) and is working as a (HEAD TECHNOLOGIST AT STARK INDUSTRIES & AVENGER). (ooc; nat, she/her, 26, est)

Tony Stark was born in May 29th, 1970 to Howard and Maria Stark (nee Carbonelli) with a silver spoon in his mouth and a screwdriver in hand. He was homeschooled until he was sent over to the Phillips Academy, a boarding school, when he was seven-years-old. He was always placed three years ahead of his classmates, not more only due to socialization issues. Despite expectations, he was a timid child who had trouble fitting in among his older, competitive classmates. Lonely and ever anxious for an ounce of his father’s positive attention, Tony didn’t experience true friendship until he met James Rhodes at MIT when he was fifteen years old.

Tragedy struck in December of 1991 when Tony’s parents died suddenly in a car accident. Tony was catapulted to the seat of CEO of Stark Industries, under the wings of his father’s long time business partner, Obadiah Stane, then CFO of Stark Industries.

Tony was always a wild card in the business world, be it for his brilliance or his very public displays of reckless hedonism. He cultivated a cold and arrogant image over the years, the upkeep of which was a personal priority until 2008, when he was kidnapped by insurgents in Afghanistan and held hostage for three months. He escaped by building a suit of armor under the guise of developing a weapon for his captors, and since then he has been perfecting this armor and using it to do good as he understands it. He shut down the weapons division of Stark Industries immediately upon his return from captivity and has since then focused on technological advancements and philanthropic efforts.

In 2010, Tony was invited to join Nick Fury’s Avengers Initiative, which he initially refused as he was dealing with a terminal health condition in secret at the time. He eventually joined Fury as a consultant for SHIELD, and it was in this capacity that he was summoned in 2012 to fight the alien threat that loomed over New York. The Avengers became a more solid team, as well as household name, after that battle, and Tony has been funding the group and developing technology for it ever since then. Two of the main Avengers hubs (Avengers Tower and the New Avengers Facility) were Stark properties that were remodeled for the team’s use.

His time with the Avengers wasn’t without its hitches, however. The threat faced in New York left Tony reeling in fear and paranoia, to the point where, in his efforts to protect the planet from cosmic threats, he ended up co-creating an A.I. unit that developed its own plans to destroy the world. Amid very justified calls for accountability from the public and dealing with tremendous guilt, Tony quickly submits to the Sokovia Accords, a piece of legislature that tore the Avengers asunder. Tony’s relationship with Steve Rogers was particularly compromised after what Tony considered personal betrayal (Steve not telling him about Bucky having killed his parents) compounded with the pressures of the Sokovia Accords. 

After a brutal fight with Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes, Tony isolated himself more than ever before. He might have succumbed to alcoholism had it not been for the constant presence and support of Pepper Potts. Tony owes his recovery -- or the bare starts of it anyway -- to her. He has presently been sober for three months and is looking to rejoin the world in patented Stark style.
