You actually do need noble lineage to rightfully rule, but since lineage doesn’t dilute, and given the historic sexual tendencies of people in power wrt their servants, eventually noble lineage spread wide enough that everyone had it and that’s why democracy happened.

So. I’ve got some questions and thoughts about Viktor’s cane. (And a heads up—I am abled, so I apologise profusely if I miss something or get anything wrong!)
I saw another user point out that baby Viktor uses his cane incorrectly. According to my trawling of the interwebs, using a cane on the opposite side of the affected limb is best as it provides better overall body support. Vik’s bad leg is his right, so he should use his cane in his left hand.
We can only assume that coming from Zaun, and with limited access to education or medical experts, lil’ Vik had to make do (especially given that his cane is a bent stick that’s been repaired and modified). So yes. Viktor is young and no one around him knows better.
But look! He’s still using it incorrectly well into his twenties. Now, maybe he’s a special case and just has a preference for using it in his right hand. And I seriously doubt Fortiche made a mistake with this, because…come on. We’ve seen the detail they go to.
From this, we can brainstorm a few ideas—maybe Viktor uses it this way because it’s all he knows and for some reason, no one has corrected him. Which, given his status as a Zaunite and a cripple, is quite a fitting way for the people of Piltover to treat him. Or, maybe, even when working for the Academy, he still lacked the funds to get appropriate treatment and so carried on as he was. Hell, maybe Piltover ostracises anyone with a disability and they’re clueless about proper care (unlikely, but still has a shred of potential).
But after the time skip? He’s corrected his use. Even though he’s now using a crutch instead of a cane, the advice is the same—use it on the opposite side.
So now we’re thinking…why now?
Well, I noticed something on the render of Viktor used for the RiotX Arcane experience. Even though it’s non-canon, it’s set once Hextech becomes an accepted technology—a few months or years after, it’s hard to tell. Anyway, he’s using his cane correctly here as well!
So naturally, this leads me to think that maybe Viktor finally got the right medical advice once he’d made a name for himself as part of Hextech. Like only after achieving something seemingly impossible for a Zaunite was he recognised as a proper member of Piltovan society. Anyway. It’s all conjecture and I have no idea really. :P But I’ve got one final note to make.
So we’ve all seen the back brace Viktor wears, presumably to keep his spine straight because of his crippled leg throwing things off (a really nice detail, really). But I also noticed that he has screws in his actual spine. Like damn.
I makes me wonder…did he have spinal surgery to fix problems caused by long-term incorrect cane usage!?
And, by extension, is that another deliberate example of the disadvantages the people of Zaun suffer from? I mean. It makes sense. As if they’d have access to good medical care or advice. All the doctors probably disappeared into Piltover for the cashed up aristocracy.
(Alternatively, he was destined for spinal surgery and a brace no matter how he used his cane, but… still. :P)
Anyway. Thanks for coming to my TED talk on probably another brilliant detail from Arcane.

Taste is the most important factor in nutrition.
Because you get the most nutrients from the foods you'll actually eat.
So add cheese, oil, spices, vinegar, sauces, etc. Try them roasted or sauteed or pureed, etc.
The actual secret to eating lots of fruits and veggies and other nutrient dense foods is:
Make them taste good. That's literally it.

isnt it wild how jayce is the most heavily misunderstood arcane character..everytime i see takes about him being upper-class and rich or mean and condescending or not caring about viktor in s1 or whatever other garbage ppl say about him i lose a year of my life
It's crazy to me that I've been saying jayce is working class for years and this got confirmed in the draft 1 board for arcane christian linke posted on twitter sometime ago lol
house Talis is a MINOR HOUSE of toolmakers whose most prominent contribution is the 'collapsible pocket wrench'. They're literally blacksmiths. This is a service and labor position. Jayce can't even afford to use gold in his inventions in act1 because he relies on the Kiramman money for everything. This is not the life of a rich guy in Piltover this is middle class at best lol his drive to finish up hextech and succeed academically is him trying to build a better life for himself!
Blacksmithing is historically a very intensive work position. The work wears you down & eventually disables you very early in life (jayce's injury in act3 seems to be a metaphorical speedrun of that, in some ways) we're never told how jayce's dad died but it is very fair to imagine it was a work related. he's fucking aware of this, its true In Real Life and it brings such an interesting context to his interactions with Viktor and how they want to create things that help common laborers and make the work better if it wasn't for the council. (in s1 act2 their progress day showcase to heimerdinger BEGINS with jayce complaining that they've been stuck fulfilling the council's demands these past 10 years and now, finally, *finally* it's their time to decide what to do with hextech. and they're not even allowed that.)
Also, the perfected hexgems in s1 are kept in Kiramman-crest boxes. I noticed this just the other day. JAYCE AND VIKTOR DON'T OWN SHITTTTTTTTTTT they're getting exploited big time while all that 'investor' money is charged back with deep dividends
just like real life academics they probably spent most of their life writing up grant proposals like dogs and begging for funding that will wring them dry later on. Where the hell is all my jayce and viktor class solidarity 'getting drunk off their mugs and complaining about their dipshit bosses' content?

I don't think they're "cool facts", but the only facts i can remember off the top of my head about the dub is that:
° Jack does say "chingada madre" instead of "chin... no puede ser"
° After Jack smells Elsa to try to remember her, she asks him if it'll work, to which he answers with "maybe" ("tal vez"), instead of "once"
° And that Jack invites Ted for tacos instead of sushi at the end of the movie lmao
That and that Jack's "This is gonna be really bad" was changed into "Esto se va a descontrolar", which actually sounds exactly like a hispanic meme of the same name, and tbh i'm not sure of whether they actually quoted it in the dub or if it was only a coincidence 💀 I still can't help but laugh at that scene because of it lmfao
That’s so cool. And they’re cool to me because I love learning new things! I’ll have to listen to the dub now for sure.
Have you watched Moon Knight at all?

So uh, little fun fact about WbN:
In the american-spanish version, when the transformation is about to happen, Jack says "Forgive me, Elsa" ("Perdóname, Elsa") instead of "I'm sorry, Elsa"
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH you just killed me and brought me back to life omg
You have any more cool facts? I’d love to hear them!

HEAVY ON THE LAST ONEEE
I'm on my knees for how kind, compassionate, adorable and funny Jack was during that scene, respecting Elsa's boundary and only reaching to heal her wound when she allowed him to
His little smile during the "It's not in your DNA, then?" IS SO FREAKING CUTEEEEE I'M IN TEARSSSS, HE'S JUST SO SWEET AND ADORABLE AND AAAAAAA
ALSO the way Elsa started to let her walls down around SOMEONE for the first time in a very long time, not just allowing Jack to get physically close with her, but also managing to share information, even if unspoken, about her personal life and her relationship with her family to a complete stranger whose name she didn't even know, it makes me want to fall to my knees and cry every time i watch that scene
I'm also gnawing at the bars of my enclosure waiting for more lore about Jack's family to drop, i especially can't wait to see what his relationship with them was like, if his curse was passed down to him by his family, which members of his family had the curse in that case, and if his sister from the comics is also a part of his lore in the MCU
YES TO ALL OF THAT!!! Jack literally is one of my favorite characters from the MCU because of his compassion. Despite the prejudice he faces, he retained his kindness.
I DESPERATELY need a sequel. DESPERATELY. Like, the MCU could be SO successful if they gave us more with WbN, especially if they tied in Moon Knight. Talk about a killer crossover!

As an avid werewolf enjoyer (that's the sole reason i watched WbN in the first place lmao), my two favorite would be:
1. The transformation scene, mostly because of how original it is, showing Jack's shadow in short lapses as he transforms but never him, but i also loved Elsa's terrified look, how she progressively makes herself smaller and the way it contrasts with the two guards standing behind Elsa, both unfazed by Jack's transformation
And
2. The scene where Jack recognizes Elsa. What can i say, man, i don't think i can find the words to express how much i loved it and how cinematic i found this scene. Just. The way Jack immediately stops in his tracks right before attacking Elsa because he saw the look in her eyes and recognized it, exactly how he suspected would happen. The way he flinches when Elsa is about to touch his face. The way Elsa puts SO MUCH trust in him and not once does she try to fight him.
AUGHHHHH
An honorific mention would be the scene where Jack frantically smells Elsa and tells her to not break eye contact with him not even for a second, solely because i'm a sucker for angst ok
1) AGREED!!! One of my favorite werewolf transformation scenes EVER. It was done so well; the cinematography was top tier.
2) Yes!! It was such a nice contrast to how she’d acted with others; it really showed her character development.
3) My heart was POUNDING during that scene; what a way to build tension for the transformation scene!
I think my favorite scene was the crypt scene. It was funny, in a way, but we also got to see Jack’s compassion and humor, as well as his slight awkwardness. It really made me love his character because he felt so real in that moment!

I'VE FOUND MY PEOPLE
I've been longing for posts about Werewolf by Night since the movie freaking came out, i'm so happy there's more people to fangirl with
OMG HI
Dude saaaame. Like, that’s one of Marvel’s best works ever in my opinion. That and Moon Knight — ironic, considering their intertwined universes!
I got into the movie about a year late so I missed the rush, but I’m SO glad there are still people who are active in the fandom!
What’s your favorite part of the movie?

The older generation's fixation on forcing you to have kids is something they absolutely refuse to unlearn. You can give the calmest and most reasonable explanation for not having kids and the only thing they can think to say is, "But what of the heir to the lands?" "Who will inherit the throne?" "Please sire upon your barren death there will be a parochial schism that will soak our soils with brother-blood." They literally hate to see you happy with just a cat.

Holga: So… I’ve seen you’ve been spending a lot of time with Xenk recently.
Edgin: No, Holga, it's not what it looks like, I swear.
Holga: Oh really? So no reason for me to be jealous?
Edgin: No! You’re the only one for me.
Holga: Is that so?
Edgin: I promise! Xenk and I are just dating, okay? They’re my partner.
Holga: So there are no best-friends-feelings involved?
Edgin: You are still my one and only best friend! They’re just the love of my life, nothing more!
Holga: But I’m still the platonic love of your life, right?
Edgin: Of course bro!
Holga: Bro...
