Of course, you can also do this over Kickstarter, but with Kickstarter, it is not possible to make money in the process. When you buy digital tokens that are issued in connection with an ICO, the company often sets a price per share in collaboration with the community token. These digital tokens then have a fixed price throughout the ICO campaign. Often there is a limit to the number of tokens released during an ICO.

An ICO is often compared to an IPO (Initial Public Offering). However, this comparison is incorrect. IPOs are usually conducted for large businesses that are selling part of their company's shareholdings as a way to raise funds. On the other hand, ICOs are used as a fundraising mechanism that allows companies to raise funds for their projects at a very early stage, and investors who buy their tokens do not buy ownership of the company.
