Everything You Need To Know About PMJAY SEHAT scheme for Jammu and Kashmir residents
In a country with a large population as India, universal access to healthcare has remained a challenge for decades now. The Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (PMJAY), also called the Ayushman Bharat scheme was launched in September 2018 to provide health coverage to those 50-crore poor and vulnerable citizens of the country for whom quality healthcare access is still a distant reality. The scheme offers its beneficiaries an average coverage amount of Rs. 5 lakhs towards expenses incurred by diagnostic tests, medicines, pre-hospitalisation and medical treatments.
As an extension, in Dec 2020, the PMJAY SEHAT scheme was exclusively introduced for the residents of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). The PMJAY SEHAT scheme shall now provide a health cover of Rs. 5 lakh each to about 21 lakh beneficiary families of J&K – over a three-fold increase from the 6 lakh beneficiary families being covered earlier under Ayushman Bharat. Another key provision of the PMJAY-SEHAT scheme is that these beneficiaries can now avail free medical facilities in all empanelled hospitals of the country without being confined to just the empanelled hospitals in the state of J&K.
Eligibility for Ayushman Bharat Registration
The eligibility for Ayushman Bharat Registration could be checked online from the PMJAY official portal under the ‘Am I Eligible’ option. By keying in basic details like name, phone number, ration card number and state of domicile, a list of names shall be displayed. If your name pops up by searching the list, then you are entitled to register for Ayushman Bharat scheme.
Steps to Follow for Ayushman Bharat Registration
Upon confirmation of eligibility, you could proceed for Ayushman Bharat Registration by submitting the following documents:
Valid Age Proof
ID proof such as PAN or Aadhaar
Accurate contact details such as residential address, phone number, and email.
Income certificate
Caste certificate
Family Structure declaration
Once the documents are in place, the eligible beneficiary can approach a PMJAY kiosk where an Aarogya Mitra shall verify the identity and eligibility of the beneficiary using the Beneficiary Identification system (BIS). Once the information is tallied, a card is issued to the beneficiary.
The Bottom Line
Factors such as stress, smoking, hazardous occupations, and environmental pollution are rapidly contributing to deteriorating levels of health in people. To tackle these uncertain health risks, access to quality and affordable healthcare becomes a top priority. As of today, PMJAY is the largest health insurance scheme that provides health coverage to crores of vulnerable and needy citizens of the country at nominal premiums. Those who are not eligible to register for PMJAY, exploring other health insurance plans available in the market would be a wiser option to cover your family’s medical needs in case of any health emergency.
On Finserv MARKETS, you could choose from a variety of health insurance plans at affordable premiums customised to suit your budget as well as adequately cover your family’s medical expenses across a network of hospitals. This critical disease causes the patient’s brain to shrink, a process known in the medical parlance as brain atrophy. Here, the brain cells degenerate and die, causing severe memory loss. Alzheimer’s disease is synonymous with dementia - an ailment affecting an individual’s thinking, behavioural and social skills. This, in turns, affects an individual’s ability to perform even the routine daily tasks independently. There is no permanent cure for this disease, although medications can provide interim relief and check the progression of this disease. If the disease progresses to an advanced level, there can be complications related to the functioning of the brain. It can cause dehydration, malnutrition and even death. Here’s a look at the symptoms of this disease:
1.Personality and behavioural changes.
2. Mood swings.
3. Difficulty in problem-solving.
4. Difficulty in finishing a task.
5. Difficulty in decision-making.
6. Difficulty in communicating.
7. Difficulty in socialising.
How to take care of an Alzheimer’s patient?
You can look after an Alzheimer’s patient by following few suggestions. Here’s a list:
1. Adhere to a fixed routine: While taking care of an Alzheimer’s patient stick to a fixed daily routine along with scheduling regular medical appointments.
2. Remove distractions: While communicating with the patient, remember to reduce distractions such as music, TV or smartphones. Ensure that the patient’s room is free from loud noises.
3. Take adequate safety measures: You should ensure that the patient’s room is safe by keeping electronic and electrical appliances at a safe distance. You can also remove unnecessary junk from the room. Try to create a peaceful environment.
4. Develop understanding: You must be flexible, cooperative and understanding as the patient could show mood swings.
Understanding the importance of health insurance for people with Alzheimer’s
This critical ailment requires continuous medical help and lifestyle changes. An Alzheimer’s patient requires regular meeting with doctors and prolonged use of medicines. A plethora of medical expenses along with the loss of income can easily disrupt your finances, in the unfortunate event of being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. A way out is opting for the critical illness rider benefit, available as part of health insurance plans. This benefit can provide you with a lump sum amount in the case of being diagnosed with a range of critical illness, including Alzheimer’s.
