thinking abt mahvir'hanin's opinion of solas in iona's worldstate and going :(

there is a timeline, i think, where mahvir'hanin isn't involved in anything with the inquisition - maybe a version of iona's worldstate where she doesn't/can't get mhl+dorian together - but mhl still adopts ilan and ilan later becomes rook

which leads to mhl watching ilan interact with emmrich during family time (one of the meetings with the inquisitor) and going, "did you learn how to flirt from your aunt?" (disapproving) and iona pushing mhl off the docks

anyway here's how solasmancer lavellan being more directly involved with rook and company while still balancing the whole southern thedas situation can still win

post-trespasser, and even a little into veilguard, i think mahvir'hanin is extremely grateful that iona only visited after solas left bc he knows her. one of her habits is to flirt around, mostly insincerely, and he absolutely could have predicted her doing that with solas and slowly coming to mean it. and frankly if he had to deal with his best friend's sort of boyfriend/ex-boyfriend trying to end the world on top of his own feelings about solas' whole thing, mahvir'hanin would have just retired. gone off the map. iona can deal with this now. or, no, actually i think he'd put adriel in charge and iona would tag along.

vitale already dislikes solas but it’s mostly passive - varric matters to them and solas upset him but solas also isn’t there to be mad at. if vitale and iona existed in the same world state, they would meet post vitale being severely unimpressed by solas. vitale enjoys playing with fire, partly bc it amuses them to stress viago out (even if it’s only the version of him that exists in their head). iona does not consider solas and her to be exclusive, especially by the time veilguard happens, though her ideal end goal is solas returning to her/them being together.

all that being said. vitale would do their level best to insert themself into the middle of All Of That solely bc it would make solas… idk. mad? upset? it would make him break composure probably. i think this would also stress lucanis out however so vitale wouldn’t get very far.

unfortunately the other side of this is vitale is in the adriel, iona’s brother, world state. so he gets to interact w vitale and randomly get hit over the head with the knowledge that vitale and iona would get along pretty well

i really do love the idea of a crow rook and viago having an emotional moment after the final battle because they are both just too damn exhausted to keep up their usual pretense of not caring about each other

but once the moment passes, i imagine viago clears his throat, gently pushes rook toward lucanis, and says, “take rook home, dellamorte”

and lucanis, who has barely been holding himself and spite back because they both so desperately need rook to be in their arms, to feel for themselves that rook is alive and whole, jumps forward to hold them and start to steer them away from the crowd

it’s not until they are halfway to the eluvian that he realizes viago just gave them his blessing
