Emily was just your average Art History student at Georgetown University. She lived the normal college student life. She lived in the dorms, pulled all-nighters, and spent her weekends partying and drinking. Her parents lived across the country in Portland, Oregon. However, Emily’s sister Sarah and her husband Eric also lived in the city, which was part of the reason why Emily chose Georgetown. She and her sister were inseparable. When Sarah moved away, Emily had to follow. In fact, they are so close they both have matching compass necklaces that they never take off. Every Sunday night they eat dinner together, the three of them. However, the sisters couldn’t be more opposite. Sarah was quiet, demure, and brunette. Emily was high energy, impulsive, and auburn haired.
Sarah’s husband, Eric, worked as a high clearance security consultant for the NSA. However, as IMPERium grew more powerful, they quickly began to weed out people who knew too much about the company. Eric knew too much. One night while working late on a project, he heard his office door open, but when he turned back no one was there. Then it hit him like a bullet. Thankfully, someone knocked on the door just in time. Eric was able to escape with only badly bruised ribs, but the encounter changed him. It took some convincing, but he was able to persuade the Turner sisters to leave the city with him.
Eric received intelligence about a group of fellow NSA agents that had escaped to St. Louis and had created an unground monitoring facility in an effort to destroy IMPERium. The trio bee-lined it away from the city. They got as far as Knoxville before tragedy struck. The car they were driving broke down. At this rate, they were closer to Washington D.C. than St. Louis.
Being stranded put the three of them in a predicament. Not being able to move made them easy targets. There was a hard decision to make. If the three of them continued as sitting ducks, it was more likely that they would all perish. There was no telling when they would be able to continue on their journey. Sarah sent Emily on her way back toward D.C. If Emily could sneak back into the city, unnoticed, they assumed she could integrate back into civilized society. After a very tearful goodbye, Emily parted ways and started the trek back to the city. However, the journey was not something that she was prepared for. Even though she had assured her sister that she could handle it, she couldn’t. Within days she was out of water and out of food, wandering aimlessly through the Wilds. Dehydrated and starving, Emily stumbled through Tennessee and finally made it to Virginia. However, her socks were soaked and hypothermia was setting in. She wasn’t going to make it back to the city; she was resigned to that fact. Settling down in a bush, she curled up and fell asleep. A huge mistake, when one was close to death.
A few hours later, Emily awoke to someone nudging her arm. Eyes blurry from exhaustion, all she could see was a blurry outline of a girl with dark hair before exhaustion took over again. The girl was Charlotte Moreau, who was out on a hunting trip with one of Salutem’s raiding parties. One look at the girl and she knew the girl was near death. Being the selfless person that she was, Charlotte convinced Elijah to put the girl on horseback and return to the community. While there were no trained medical professionals at the community at the time, the few members with first aid experience came forward to help save Emily. It took Emily a week to fully recover from her ordeal. Charlotte championed that the girl stay at the community. The two have remained close ever since. Charlie has also taught Emily how to hunt and they are an unstoppable team.
As months went on, Emily had given up that her sister and brother-in-law were still alive. However, that all changed when Marjorie Evans showed up asking for her. The vet had her sister’s necklace. She was able to corroborate Marjorie’s story. Emily still waits by Salutem’s gates each morning, hoping her sister will one day find her way to the community.

Everyone says things happen for a reason and maybe they do, but everything that happened to Kaleb Jensen, well let’s just say that his life could have gone a whole hell of a lot better. He thought he was simply going out to check on a safe house not too far from his own compound, but what he happened upon instead was an ambush that he wasn’t quite expecting. To be taken back to IMPERium was not in the future he had planned for himself, but that was where he ended up. Being tied to a gurney while a scalpel is pressed against your scalp is not any way to live the last few minutes of your life, but that was exactly what happened. When he finally closed his eyes from pain, he had no idea he’d never open them again.
But maybe we should rewind just a bit because there isn’t just any reason that IMPERium decided to kill Kaleb Jensen. Many months ago, they found him in the woods and knocked him out. There are plenty of ways to get information in ways that aren’t spies and IMPERium wanted to test that. Project Solus was always meant to do that and at that time, though it was merely a prototype, they needed someone to test it on. The young man just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and when he woke up, he wasn’t aware anything was wrong besides the fact that he was bleeding. He didn’t think much of it, the memory of getting knocked out wasn’t there and he figured he just ran into something and ended up hurting himself and just returned to Sanctorum. What he didn’t know and never would was that they were recording his brain activity and they were going to use it further on down the road.
When IMPERium ambushed the safe house and took Kaleb back, that was the end of his life, but the hard work never went to waste as they constructed an Android to take his place. With every feature as perfect as the original, the new Kaleb took off back to New York, ready to blend right back in with the people of the compound. Draped in dark clothes, he navigated his way through the forest every week so he could communicate with his commander, at least until he ran into a young man. With his back to the boy, he wasn’t sure what his intentions were. He seemed to behave as though he didn’t see anything, but Kaleb had no trust for anyone. As the boy drew closer offering him nourishment, he attacked in hopes to kill. He managed to get in a devastating blow, one that the android knew would cause death but followed him long enough until he figured he had gone off to die elsewhere.
Coming back to Sanctorum, everything seemed to fall into place and the people around him didn’t even seem to notice a difference. Of course, they questioned where he had been, but the lies were easy enough to supply and there were no further questions.
But while he believed life would be simple from there, he had been wrong. When the very male he left for dead in the woods showed up on the compounds doorstep he knew he was going to have his hands full...and this wasn’t something he wanted to report right away. Instead, he waited, watching and feigned even caring about the kid, who he came to know as Ben. One would even say they were best friends if they were looking at it from the outside. He could fake it as good as any of the others. Ben seemed to know nothing of his real identity and therefore he left it at that, even when Ben left the compound years later.
But upon hearing that he’s helping with the Revolution, he realized that maybe he should have killed him years ago. It’s what sparks him to leave Sanctorum against orders. Sometimes you have to finish what you started a long time ago and his goal is one that may be easier said than done.

Growing up in the West Bank, just outside of Jerusalem, Shoshana was no stranger to the conflicts that arose when people held different views. She grew up during a particularly violent time in the region’s history. Every year it seemed, someone she knew, both Israeli and Palestinian had died due to the violence.
IMPERium came in and promised to change things. For several years things did get better. There were no more rockets raining down; hardly any death. However, all good things do, inevitably, come to an end. When Israel’s government started defying the hold that IMPERium had over it, the West Bank quickly collapsed back into violence.
Shoshana continued to live life without fear because she knew it wouldn’t make a difference anyway. Walking home from school one day, Shoshana was listening to her music, like any normal sixteen year old. She caught a flash of black in her peripheral vision. She turned quickly, but it had already disappeared. She continued walking, with home in sight. One minute she was swaying to the beat and then it all went black. She came to when a gallon of cold water flooded her face. A man with a ski mask stood in front of her screaming in her face, another stood in the background screaming at the one screaming at her. Tears streamed down her face as her whole body shook in fear. The man in the background kept shouting about how they ‘had the wrong one.’ They had meant to kidnap another girl, one whose family had money to use as a ransom, but the hot head in front of her hadn’t done his research.
One particular insult made the man in front of her turn his head. Shoshana took the opportunity to lash out. She struggled against the bonds that tethered her to the chair she occupied. She finally managed to wiggle one of her wrists free. She untied herself and lifted the chair above her head, as her captors continued to argue without paying attention to their hostage. She swung and knocked the hot head out. The other kidnapper moved to attack. She took one of the splintered pieces of wood and rammed it through his heart. Shoshana dragged herself from the building and limped home, vowing to never be a victim again.
At age 18, Shoshana entered her conscripted service with Israel’s military. Although IMPERium was really in charge, they still let individual governments act as fronts to keep their citizens in the dark. She was top of her basic training class and specialized in search and rescue missions in highly volatile areas. After three years of service, one more year than the required conscription, Shoshana was injured by a hidden IED. She was discharged from service, due to her injuries.
Shoshana felt very bitter after her discharge and began using her very specific set of skills to work for anyone one who paid for her services. One of her missions led her to the United States, where she was to assassinate one of the Princeps. However, her cover was blown by someone on the inside and her mission ended. She did not return to war-torn Israel but rather stayed in the states. She decided to adopt a new alias, Orya Levin, to avoid anyone looking into her past and discovering exactly who she was. She escaped to the Wilds, once again selling her military experience for survival supplies. Of course, the highest bidder owned her allegiance. However, jobs have been few and far between. After six months without a job, she was stopped in a Wilds saloon by a figure in a cloak. The figure, who went by Caesar, had already hired another mercenary that evening who went by Jai. Caesar explained that he’d been watching them both for some time. They had skills that complemented one another, so he was sending them both on a two-person mission. For now, it was simply an intelligence mission. They were to infiltrate Salutem Community and gather intel about infrastructure, defenses, and the like.
They entered Sautem without many issues. As always everyone was wary of the newcomers, but they soon proved themselves as assets. Orya proved herself to be a great cook and helps to feed the whole community each day. They are much beloved by the community and have truly made their home in Salutem. However, leadership still isn’t convinced that their intentions are totally pure. There are just too many coincidences involving the pair. Orya was caught sneaking into Tech, an area that’s usually off limits to civilians. As a result, both mercenaries are being watched carefully.

6E was completing one of her assigned scouting missions when she heard some unexplained noises about a mile to the south of her location. Using her extended sight, 6E saw a woman in her 30’s filling containers with water at a stream. Quickly, 6E approached from behind, careful not to alert the human of her presence. Analysing the scene, 6E saw that the woman had a total of five weapons on her person, along with the machete that was stabbed in the ground next to her. The human was constantly looking around, due to the open nature of the creek bank. 6E knew the woman felt over exposed. 6E positioned herself right in the precisely determined location that the woman would use to exit.
The women collected her water containers and slung them over her shoulder, before grabbing her machete and rushed back to the cover of the trees and right into 6E’s path. The woman moved gracefully enough to not make any noise and alert others. As soon as she was within a reasonable distance, 6E rushed to attack. The woman heard some leaves move when there was no wind, and she booked it. 6E followed suit, no longer trying to hide because her cover was now blown. What shocked 6E about this human, however, was that she never took the easiest way. She always turned toward landmarks and obstacles that could slow her down. 6E was convinced that this was going to be an easy capture, especially when the woman’s foot caught on a piece of rebar and she collapsed. 6E immediately smelled blood and knew she was going to have a great prize to take back to Princeps Ares. However, the woman got back up and continued running, even though it was a slower pace. A trail of blood followed the woman, so 6E knew she couldn’t hide.
The woman led them through a rocky crevice. All of a sudden, feet hit the group behind 6E and immediately her defenses went up. She turned back toward the disturbance and saw two large men standing behind her, weapons in hand. More feet hit the group behind her and she knew the woman was a trap. Her potential captors moved forward and attacked. 6E reacted in kind. She fought tooth and nail but was outnumbered, but the vagrants didn’t kill her. They restrained her, while another android attached a computer to her database connection. She attempted to communicate with her commander and when that failed, she tried to shut herself down.

Marjorie grew up as a member of a prominent southern family in the small town of Thomasville, Georgia. She was the heiress to a large cattle business, something that had been in her family for well over 200 years. However, her life wasn’t all debutante balls and Lily Pulitzer. Her mother and father taught her to be tough and to take no crap from anyone. You had to be tough if you were going to wrangle an animal that weighed over a ton. Every minute She had free to herself, she was always in the barns or in the fields taking care of the animals. She knew how to shoe a horse and provide basic veterinary care from a young age. In fact, she had known all of her life that she would become a vet that specialized in livestock. It wasn’t an if, it was a when.
Actively involved with 4H, Marjorie was constantly surrounded by southern boys that thought girls were weak. Any comments they made were met by a quick comeback, followed by winning purple ribbon after purple ribbon for the various cows and goats she’d raised. She wasn’t just all talk, she more than proved that she wasn’t someone to mess with. Marjorie participated in 4H all throughout middle and high school. She graduated high school with flying colors and was immediately accepted into Veterinary School, which was funded by IMPERium, of course. Someone had to keep the food alive and healthy for the residents of the cities.
Marjorie focused her studies on large livestock animals and graduated top of her class. She was immediately offered a great position with a large Veterinary Practice based out of Atlanta, Georgia. She did house calls to IMPERium approved and sponsored ranches and farms to help tend to horses, cows, goats, and other livestock. Her job was her life. She loved every challenging minute. Workaholic didn’t even cover her love for her work. She didn’t have time for much of anything else. She took great pleasure in showing up anyone who thought she couldn’t handle something.
However, the more she witnessed beyond the walls, the more she hated what IMPERium was doing to people. On her daily treks to the ranches, she saw even more downtrodden and sad people, barely scraping by. One day, after watching a little girl fall and not get up, Marjorie made her choice. She knew ‘resigning’ from her job wasn’t an option. She stopped showing up and took up residence in a large farmhouse about an hour from the city. Marjorie was highly respected beyond the walls. Even though she was trained as a vet, she also helped any humans who needed medical attention as well. She was largely left alone by the bands of violent nomads because she would tend to the medical needs of their members and horses.
However, tension was brewing in the city. People were tired of being held down my IMPERium’s androids. A group of rebels had risen up and taken over one of the android maintenance facilities in the city, holding all those that worked there hostage. Of course, IMPERium is not to be defied. The Princeps sent a group of B-droids to march on Atlanta to quell the riot. The army burned all of the houses and communities in the surrounding suburbs to teach the rest of the world a lesson. As a result, Marjorie lost her house and small practice.
Left with next to nothing, Marjorie was homeless and wandering the Wilds in search of another ‘community’ to help. She traveled north, after hearing about a community in New York from one of her clients who had family there. She stopped in Knoxville, Tennessee when a woman, named Sarah ran across her path screaming. Her husband had been attacked by a mountain lion and was losing a lot of blood. Marjorie fixed the man up as best she could and gave the woman specific instructions for care. The woman gave Marjorie a necklace, shaped like a compass, and told her to head to Virginia. There was a community called Salutem there and she could show the necklace to the leaders and ask for Emily Turner, Sarah’s sister. Sarah reassured her that Emily would know the necklace anywhere and vouch for her.
It took Marjorie a week on horseback to arrive at Salutem’s gates, where she was met by a rudimentary guard detail. She showed the necklace and asked to speak with Emily. The guard dispatched one of his men to go find Ben, Edy, and Emily. The four people showed up at the gate. Marjorie held up the necklace Sarah had given her and explained her story. Emily corroborated that the necklace did, in fact, belong to her sister. Ben and Edy administered the test and Marjorie was welcome into the community. She was much needed in the community and her healing knowledge helped keep the community alive.
Among one of her first patients was the red-haired Scot, Calum Mackenna. She nursed him back to health after Elijah found him dying of pneumonia in the Wilds. He spent three weeks in her care and she quickly countered all of his charming advances with her no-nonsense sarcasm. Calum finds her thrilling and actively does his best to charm her into liking him. However, Marjorie couldn’t be less impressed and she lets him know that on a daily basis.

Charlotte is the younger sister of Edilyn Moreau, one of the leaders of Salutem. While most would think that Charlotte hides in Edilyn’s shadows, that is certainly not the case. Edilyn often goes to her sister for advice, as Edilyn thinks Charlotte is far more kind than she is.
Charlotte witnessed the death of her mother at the hands of her father.
Edilyn escaped with Charlotte from Washington D.C. to the wilds, to avoid any further abuse from their father. The two years they spent in the wilds before Salutem was founded was fraught with danger. The sisters had to often leave their camp in the middle of the night and were constantly on the run from dangers.
As a result, Charlotte suffers from anxiety and PTSD, but she refuses to let it show. She carries herself with a strong resolve, in order to hide those uneasy feelings.
However, do not mistake her kindness for weakness. She is often the first person to jump in when there is a misunderstanding or argument among Salutem’s citizens. As a result, she is often sought out for help, due to her diplomatic nature.
Charlotte is a very skilled archer and is often taken on hunting trips to assist the Raiders.
Charlotte currently shares a home with Edilyn and Ben.

Sage does not remember her parents. She only ever remembers living with her widowed grandmother in the richest part of the city. Her grandfather had been a wealthy banker before IMPERium took over. When the company took over, he was given a choice. Comply willingly and help bankroll the company and live a lavish lifestyle or dissent. He had enough influence to stand with those who disagreed. However, this choice came with dire consequences: he was sure to die and it was a possibility that his family would as well. Mr. Sun had a very hard decision to make, and he chose to stand with Rex to avoid putting his family in danger. However, the choice left Mr. Sun broken. So many of his friends were executed or simply disappeared after the takeover. The pain of his choice was too much. He hung himself from one of the stair landings of the family home. Sage was the first person to find him. She was only seven years old.
Sage has only known a world ruled by IMPERium and androids. However, that hasn’t stopped her from dreaming of revenge for her grandfather’s death. She absolutely holds IMPERium responsible. When she heard whispers of a rebellion sweeping through the halls of the college she attended, she quickly sought out the source of such information. It wasn’t hard; all she had to do was sit in the dining hall for half an hour and she knew all she needed to. She showed up to a planned meeting, which was held in one of the study rooms in the library, ready to fight. After ten minutes, Sage stood up declaring that their ‘rebellion’ was a farce. She gave an impassioned speech about how sitting around did nothing and that something needed to be done before what was being done to the world was irreversible. Seething, Sage turned to leave, but the ‘leader’ of the trio stopped her and asked her to show them what to do.
Her enigmatic personality drew people to the rebellion. Soon the trio turned into 15 fully committed members. Her good friend, JD Davidson, joined because of her. While their rebel cause had good intentions, the group was young and misguided, which actually put the people in the Wilds and rebels in danger. The group was more open with their opinions and dealings than was safe, but their intentions were pure. They even came up with a grand plan to try and assist the rebels in the Wilds get information from the city.
They would send one of their own over the walls to treat with the rebel forces. Of course, Sage volunteered. She braved scaling the walls each month to report back to the other members of her resistance group. Each day she ventured deeper into the Wilds trying to find the rebellion she’d dreamed about. The leaders of Salutem kept an eye on her, especially at her little camp not far from Washington D.C. Even though she tried very hard to be sneaky, she left obvious clues. B-droids were common around the walls and Sage getting caught could possibly mean that there would be increased patrols in the area, which would lead to issues for Salutem.
During one trip when she was sneaking back into the wilds, Calum and Elijah captured her. Sage was immediately brought to the Salutem compound, where Edilyn, Ben, and Sanders were waiting for her. She was scolded by the leaders for being reckless and stupid, however, the leaders decided that they could use Sage’s sneaky nature to aid their mission, but Sage had to be trained correctly as a spy by Sloane, Salutem’s spymaster.
Now a trained and seasoned spy, Sage has been sent on several missions to gather information about IMPERium’s military forces. She did notice how much more tension was in the air in the cities. For about a month things got really dangerous in the cities for anyone who involved with the rebellion. The spies retreated to the Wilds and worked remotely from the Salutem community until things cooled down. Sage is weary of 9E and her intentions with JD, so she keeps a close eye on the pair. She is reporting any suspicious or unsavory behavior that the android exhibits straight to Sloane.

9E was built five years ago and is one of the most successful E-Droids to date. She has more than 150 kills, all of which were people she found in the Wilds, on her record. It is believed that at least 20% were high ranking members of the fledgling Rebellion. Her skill and success is widely known and recognized throughout IMPERium’s upper management. Her mission is to destroy anyone who is in or related to the Rebellion. She is absolutely loyal to IMPERium. While only Rex, the Princeps, and her Operator, know her true identity, her notorious ways have spread throughout the ranks. 9E is a master of disguise and changes her outward appearance on a regular basis, something that most androids find tedious and unnecessary.
As with all E-droids, other than her direct superiors, no one knows who she truly is or what she looks like. E-droids also go a step further to protect their identities, often posing as other android types. 9E poses as an Operator android, or O-droid. She has a squadron of 20 battle droids under her command. Her deception does not stop with keeping her true identity secret. She uses her alias, 13O, to infiltrate a group of rebels at the local college.
As 13O, she feigns flirting with the rebellion, because she is starting to experience emotions and is exploiting the fault in her code. Though she gets intelligence about the rebellion from her malicious IMPERium sources, 9E is master of storytelling and manipulation. When she attends the first rebel meeting, she doesn’t bother hiding the glowing chip in her arm. She was ready to weave her web of deceit. She explained that one of her squadron had reported the meeting to her. She directed that android to provide the information to her so she could follow up on it. She so gallantly removed the B-droid off the rebels’ scent, as she was the only one she could trust to keep them safe.
Naturally, all in attendance were weary of the android’s presence. Ready to attack at the drop of a hat, even though none of the amateur rebels thought to prepare for any enemy interruptions. 9E explained how after one particularly nasty operation in Florida, she started to experience a strange phenomenon. She started to feel sympathy for the people that were slaughtered. Frightened, she fled and refused to connect to the database, though the instinct was strong. Only one rebel stood up for her and became her champion, and she immediately set her sights on him. JD Davidson, a soft-spoken skinny kid who looked like he’d never seen a girl naked, had spoken up. 9E only saw him as an easy target. She played it off as being so thankful that someone would believe her. She feigned completed innocence, a real damsel in distress, and it won him over quickly. She soon had the poor lad wrapped around her finger.
However, the fear that 9E experienced due emerging emotions was not totally a farce. Within the first year after her creation, 9E went on a long-distance mission to California. Because she spent a long time away from the database, she started to feel emotions after a particularly nasty battle. Immediately frightened by the realization, she immediately plugged herself in at the first opportunity. Now, to keep that from happening again, 9E connects to the database every three days, which is more often than the requirement of once a week for E-droids. Because of her frequent connections, 9E believes that she has eradicated the few human traits she once had. As a result, she holds a special hatred for anyone or anything that is imperfect, because to be imperfect is to be human and she never wants to feel that weakness again. However, she has no problem exploiting weaknesses in order to further IMPERium’s mission. She has told her Operator that if she experiences any sign of weakness, she will turn herself over before she allows herself to become imperfect.
Now, after things got really dangerous in the cities for anyone who involved with the rebellion, the spies have retreated to the Wilds and are now working remotely from the Salutem community, until things have cooled down. JD brought 9E with him, against Sloane and the rest of Salutem Leadership’s counsel. However, leadership was never going to turn anyone away that needed shelter. Of course, there were conditions. 9E was required to visit Lennon and 3S in Tech each day for evaluation. She also was required to have a guard at all times. JD was mostly the one to volunteer for duty.
After a month at Salutem, it was time for 9E to report to her Operator. However, she had to get away from the compound to do it safely. She was able to shake JD and leave the compound without being seen, or so she thought. Kaleb Jensen was on guard duty that evening and saw her leave. Suspicious, he followed her and watched from the shadows. He followed her for about a mile when another android came into view, clearly wearing the uniform of an operator. Kaleb had seen all he needed to and he returned back to Salutem with a plan, before 9E finished her updates.
Three hours later, about a mile out from the compound, she heard a twig snap. Wheeling around, Kaleb emerged from the shadows. He immediately questioned her activity. Firing questions off rapidly. But as soon as 9E looked Kaleb in the eyes, she knew he was an android, an Executioner like herself. After all, like calls to like. From that point on, the power struggle between the two androids grew. They were constantly trying to expose the other as a traitor, for they know both of them aren’t going to leave the community alive.

3S is a scanner droid. He was created with the intention that he would be able to work as an engineer on the android database. His duties would include performing maintenance and making improvements via programming. 3S was immediately stationed at IMPERium’s corporate office in Washington D.C., as soon as he was created. The first few years after his creation went smoothly. There was no sign of the human-like emotions that some older androids had the misfortune of experiencing. However, that may be attributed to the fact that 3S was almost always connected to the database, due to the job he performed.
Three years after his creation, a young blonde girl, fresh out of school showed up in programming. She introduced herself as Lennon, which 3S immediately thought was different. Most humans had names like Mary or John. However, as with all androids, the thought was fleeting and he returned to his work. Lennon was a strange human. She often whispered quietly to herself as she was working on a piece of code. She seemed as though interacting with other humans was a chore, which to most androids it was. The strangest thing of all was the little figure of the ancient beast that always sat on her desk. However, as odd as 3S might have thought Lennon was, he couldn’t deny her brilliance. The two of them worked together flawlessly and they were able to accomplish extraordinary feats in android programming. Lennon began to feel more comfortable around 3S as well and she began to talk to him more and more about a wide variety of things. This piqued his curious nature.
Lennon’s five-year anniversary was coming up at IMPERium and the Princeps decided to throw her a party to celebrate her many successes. They approached 3S for a suggestion on a gift; due to their working relationship, they assumed he might have some information regarding what she liked. Lennon once told him about her parents who were actively involved in the rebellion. 3S was programmed to hate and deny anything having to do with the rebellion and assumed that Lennon did as well. He shared the fact with the Princeps. The next week, during the Lennon’s celebration, her parents were executed. 3S beamed, proud that his gift was the one they had given her. He stared at her from the back of the room. She remained steadfast and strong and seemed as pleased with the gift as everyone else. However, her fingers were tense, which he had never seen before. Her fingers always flew across keyboards with grace. He knew immediately he had done something unforgivable in her eyes. A month later, Lennon didn’t show up for work. From that point on, she was never seen at headquarters again. It later came out that Lennon had left the city to join the rebellion. She was blacklisted.
About a year after Lennon’s disappearance, 3S was in his dorm room shutting down for the evening when rebels entered the building and kidnapped him and took him to the rebel compound beyond the walls. When he powered up, he came face to face with Lennon. While part of his mind told him she was a friend, his android brain only saw an enemy. His hand closed around her throat and constricted. Several rebels in the room moved to her aid and finally got his hand loose. Always the professional, she shook off the attack and began clicking away furiously on a keyboard in her lap, as the rebels held him back. A few seconds later, a cord was inserted into his database port and nothing was ever the same.
After his hack, as with all androids who are away from IMPERium’s database for a long time, 3S began to develop human-like emotions. 3S is incredibly curious, due to his work as a Scanner. He and Lennon have once again developed an uncanny friendship. They were more like sister and brother. Lennon is the only one at the compound that actually treats 3S like a person, without any trepidation. Others are finally coming around. In fact, he picked his ‘human name,’ Velo, based on the little Velociraptor Lennon has sitting on her desk. 3S is now second in command in the rebel tech department and works directly under Lennon. He currently works on the Rebellion’s database trying to mimic the original IMPERium one he was created from.

E A R L Y L I F E:
Calum was born in the highlands of Scotland to a family steeped in Highlander tradition. He was the only boy in a family of girls, so he quickly learned to be as charming as possible to avoid any backlash from his three sisters. However, being mischievous was not beneath him either. He teased and taunted his sisters, often bringing in frogs and lizards and hiding them in their rooms. As the baby of the family, Calum’s mother had a soft spot for him, so he was able to get away with even his most heinous pranks. The MacKenna family led a happy life for many years and they kept living the life their family had led for centuries. It was a life steeped in pride, hard work, and honesty.
From a young age, Calum was groomed to run the family estate. His father taught him the business aspect and the physical labor involved with running an estate that held thousands of acres of land. Calum learned quickly, but his interest in the family business began to wane. Calum had always been headstrong and stubborn. He often went through bouts of rebelliousness for having his fate decided at such a young age and for other things out of his control. In one of his bouts of rebelliousness, Calum dropped out of school and joined the Royal Army at the age of 18. The shock of Calum’s betrayal of everything their family held dear caused their father to have a massive heart attack that he would eventually succumb to. However, even his father’s death couldn’t make Calum return to the family estate. His sisters and mother were left to tend the estate, in his stead.
Calum served in the army for over ten years and traveled the world on behalf of the Royal Army during that time. He was stationed on 6 of the 7 continents and more than 50 countries. While his service calmed his rebellious streak, it made him more headstrong and stubborn when it came to the things he believed in. His final deployment was to Afghanistan in 2009. 2009 was the bloodiest year of the occupation of Afghanistan and Calum witnessed some of the nastiest combat moments of his military career in that one year. Each disaster and each life lost put a black mark on his soul. However, the worst moment was when he watched as one of his best friends stepped on a hidden mine and was blown up in front of him. Calum never fully recovered from his service. When he returned to Scotland after being medically honorably discharged, Calum returned to his childhood home. When he arrived, it appeared that the lands and estate house had been left to ruin. The realization that his home and family were gone sent Calum into a tail spin. He went to Glasgow and got mixed up with the wrong crowd. His PTSD went undiagnosed for years, while he spun more and more out of control. Eventually, a Catholic Priest found Calum laying in a gutter in a nasty part of town, high on only god knew what. The Priest picked him up, recognizing the Royal Army pin on the collar of his soiled shirt, and took Calum to a veteran’s hospital. There he was diagnosed and treated accordingly. Calum returned to the parish of the priest who saved him and volunteered, in return for a place to sleep. After getting back on his feet, Calum knew that there was nothing left for him in Scotland and to continue healing he needed to leave the country.
He hopped on the first plane to the U.S. in search of himself. When the plane touched down in New York, he immediately felt like a different man. No one here knew of his sins against his family and against the innocent people he couldn’t save in the countries he was stationed. New York felt like a different world. Androids were few and far between in the highlands of Scotland. His time in Glasgow was so hazy he could not recall much of anything about the city. However, in New York, you couldn’t sneeze without 25 androids offering you a tissue. They were easily distinguished by the glowing chip in their arm.
However, three weeks into Calum’s visit to the big apple, he realized just how suffocating the city was. He couldn’t see the sky and the androids set him on edge. He knew that living in the city was no longer an option. He planned to escape into the wilds, to escape everything that had a microchip. Thanks to the Royal Army, Calum’s observational skills had no parallel. He was able to figure out when the garrison was guarding the walls and when they took their breaks. Gathering supplies bit by bit, as to not raise any suspicions, Calum prepared to breathe in the fresh air of the wilds. He raced to the wall under the cover of night, always cautious of any people and androids. It took hours, but he finally reached the wall and scaled it. Below, the waters of the Hudson River rushed and Calum plunged into the dark depths. He let the river carry him until the city merely twinkled on the horizon. Calum pulled himself from the river and vanished into the wilds.
He explored the north-eastern wilds of the U.S. for two years before he finally decided to head south. After getting stuck in a freezing rain downpour, Calum came down with pneumonia. Calum was careful to avoid any of the IMPERium ruled cities, but he became increasingly desperate for help as his lungs continued to fill with fluid. Eventually, he could walk no further and he made his final resting place against a large pine tree. He propped himself against the tree and waited for death. However, the heavy beat of horse hooves rattled his bones. A man on a white horse appeared before him. He spoke in a hushed, hurried whisper, but Calum only caught that the other man’s name was Elijah, before he passed out from the pain in his chest.
Calum woke up in a room full of fluorescent lights. It smelled sterile, like the veteran’s hospital in Glasgow. A woman in a doctor’s coat, who introduced herself a Marjorie Evans, nursed him back to health in a matter of days. Calum was then interviewed by the community leaders and was soon announced as a citizen of Salutem. As soon as he was well, he was assigned to be a guard who patrolled the grounds and walls on the night shift.
T H E P R E S E N T:
Now, Calum is the captain of the guard. He is responsible for the protection of Salutem, including its people and lands. He takes this job very seriously and trains each person, who has any interest in being a guard, himself. He is a well-loved leader among the guards and is an incredible strategist. However, Calum is very aware of the demons he fights daily. He often finds himself stuck in a moment from the past and he worries that they could happen in the line of duty and cause a disaster. Can Calum continue to fight his demons and keep the compound safe? Can he help lead the rebel army to victory?

Sanders never had an easy life. His mother died when he was two years old. While his father, Eric, was never a particularly happy or good man, he became cruel and mean upon Sanders’ mother’s death. Sanders inherited his fair hair and blue eyes from his mother and because of that Eric treated him cruelly. Sanders was a constant reminder of the only person he might have cared for. However, for some reason or another, Eric simply couldn't abandon the boy to exposure. Instead, he took the boy across the country. Eric did not know how to take care of a child and became increasingly angry and desperate with the situation. This caused him to seek help in rather seedy places. Eventually, Eric’s anger caught up with him and he ended up getting involved with a group of particularly nasty vagrants. Of course, Sanders was dragged along for the ride. Growing up in the wilds didn't make things any easier, but neither did stealing, assault, and being an accomplice to murder. They took whatever they wanted and left a stream of bodies in their wake. The stories of this particularly terrible band of vagrants began to infiltrate and spread among those that lived in the wilds. They started to call themselves the Bastards and for good reason. They were the scum of the earth.
When Sanders was old enough to start going on raids, any trace of kindness and innocence was lost. Sanders became just as hard as every other member of the Bastards. They ravaged the wilds and burned and looted any civilization they came across without care. Certain groups of people paid them off to avoid the damage they could inflict, but that hardly saved them. The Bastards weren’t trustworthy. Sanders quickly began to move up the ranks. He watched the different members fight from a very analytical point of view. He learned their strengths and weaknesses, while they were none the wiser. Using this knowledge, he began dispatching his competitors before they had the chance to move the ranks. Because of this innate ability to dispatch anyone who might be a competitor, Sanders soon became known as Sicarius and 2nd to Occisor, who was the leader of the Bastards.
One fall evening, the Bastards fell upon a small wilds community outside of Dallas. The group splintered apart into small raiding bands of three or four. Sanders led a group that contained his father and two others. Sanders led the group into what appeared to be an abandoned hotel. The group split to cover the large property. Sanders roamed the south wing of the building, when he heard ear piercing screams coming from the west, the direction his father headed. However, the screams normally wouldn’t have alarmed Sanders, except they belonged to a child. There was one rule the Bastards were required to follow, or face instant death, they never tortured children. Children were killed immediately so that they didn’t suffer. These, however, were screams of suffering and Sanders ran to them. He found Eric holding a small boy by the hair as he whipped his back and drew blood. Eric’s gaze was black and Sanders saw red because he knew just how terrible that little boy felt because Sanders had felt the same exact thing as a child. Without further thinking, Sanders sunk his dagger into his father’s back. He quickly grabbed the child and fled. He created rudimentary bandages to cover the worse of the boy’s wounds and the stowed him in the basement of a small storefront. He gave the child explicit instructions to stay quiet and hidden and that he would be back at nightfall to collect the child and bring him to safety.
Sanders immediately returned back to the camp the Bastards set up just south of town. The rest of the group had already returned and Sanders’ late arrival did not go unnoticed. Immediately, he was brought in front of Occisor and questioned. Sanders wrote it off as being preoccupied with a young lady in town. The answer was accepted, but uneasily. Sanders retired to his tent early. However, as soon as the last lamp was extinguished, Sanders gathered his supplies and exited his tent, stealing out of camp quieter than a church mouse. He finally reached the boy, who had dutifully stayed where he was told. Sanders gathered him on his back and left town, heading for the next sign of civilization. He was now officially a deserter and if the Bastards tracked him down, he would be killed immediately. He dropped the boy at a rudimentary clinic outside of Memphis and headed east, in search of the community he had been hearing about in his travels with the Bastards.
After traveling for over a year, Sanders finally came across a Salutem sentry named Calum MacKenna. Calum was out patrolling the outer lands that bordered the lands Salutem claimed as their own. Instantly on edge, Calum was quick to examine Sander belongings. The Bastard sigil, a skull with a crow pecking one eye socket, was on most, if not all of his things. Instantly, Calum drew his sword and challenged Sanders. Calum’s many years in the Royal Army did not prepare him for Sanders surrendering almost immediately. However, Calum couldn’t be too cautious about the Bastard and immediately knocked him in the head with the hilt of his sword.
Sanders woke up in a dingy basement that has been fashioned with rudimentary bars to form a cell. A dark haired woman, a taller bearded man, and the red headed Scot stood outside of the bars talking quietly among themselves. The three quickly administered the Salutem test and Sanders passed. However, having a Bastard in the community would not sit well with the other members, even though the leaders and highest ranking members approved it. It was decided that Calum, as captain of the sentries, would act as a guard until the community got used to Sanders’ presence. Of course, it was also to protect the community. Sanders was assigned to work in the fields, always with his shadow not too far behind. After saving one of the children, who had fallen into a hidden culvert on the edge of the forest, Sanders came to earn the trust of not only Salutem’s leaders but also the rest of the citizens.
T H E P R E S E N T: 3 years later...
Now, Sanders has been made a leader at Salutem. It was a bold move by the community because Sanders was still a Bastard deserter. His status as a leader could easily allow the Bastards to attack the community for harboring him. However, Salutem’s mission was to give anyone who needed help a home that included the former Bastard. Sanders proved himself a valuable asset to the community and was even voted into a leadership position by a large majority. He was the perfect person to add to the council. He is no-nonsense, brutish, and not afraid to tell it like he saw it. He is quick to take lofty ideas and analyze them and provide a practical way to achieve a goal. However, for some people, Sanders’ appointment to leadership is still a point of contention. These people, however, keep it quiet. But how long will they keep quiet? Will the Bastards find out where Sanders is hiding? And will Salutem suffer for it?

E A R L Y L I F E:
Lennon was born in a poor part of IMPERium ruled Washington D.C. As the poor populations of the cities are often largely ignored, her parents were able to join the rebellion and fly under the radar while still in the midst of android central. They reported all of their intel to the rebels working both in the city and for IMPERium. It was a dangerous way to live, but her parents felt like they needed to make their daughter’s future a bright one. Lennon’s parents were low-level developers for IMPERium, who mainly worked in the local android maintenance shops, where people would bring their family androids for repairs and updates. Lennon spent every afternoon and all school breaks in the shop and she soon grew to have an interest in android development and engineering.
However, school was difficult for Lennon. Because of her parents’ careers, she was able to attend a private school in a wealthier part of the city. However, her parents could not afford much, so she went to school in hand-me-downs and thrift store clothing. The other children teased Lennon relentlessly, which caused her to close down and only interact if she absolutely had to. The loneliness was debilitating and she was often very sad. She focused on her school work and excelled in all of her academics, even surprising her teachers with how incredibly brilliant she was. By the time she was in seventh grade, she had completed all of the classes the school had to offer. Her math teacher nominated her to skip a grade the following year. With her parent’s permission, she accepted and started high school a year early and at a 10th-grade level.
Lennon continued to excel in high school and her calculus teacher invited her to join the school’s programming team. The programming team was sponsored by IMPERium, in hopes of cultivating the best and brightest minds and recruiting them to further the company’s mission. During her senior year, the programming teams at all of the high schools around the world competed to see which school could solve a programming issue that IMPERium presented to the students. The students then presented their patch to IMPERium’s Princeps. Each member of the winning team received a scholarship prize and the team member that showed the most promise and most skill would be offered a job in the programming department at IMPERium’s corporate office. Upon informing her parents of this, they immediately shut down. They were afraid that their daughter was slowly becoming one of IMPERium’s pawns. Lennon couldn’t comprehend why her parents could think in such a way. Her parents were very much still involved in the rebellion, but they were also employed by the company. She simply couldn’t understand why her parents couldn’t understand that she could be doing the exact same thing. The truth was, being a spy at the corporate level was next to impossible. Corporate employees went through rigorous mental evaluations, some of which caused the person substantial damage. The house was very quiet and her parents rarely talked with Lennon from that point on.
Lennon poured herself into the project. IMPERium provided each student with hundreds of lines of code to evaluate. To most, the code would have looked like a jumbled mess. The disorganization would be enough to trip up any run of the mill programmer, but Lennon wasn’t just any programmer. She lived for a challenge. However, as soon as she unjumbled the code she realized the code was of rebel origins. It was a chunk of code that could be used to hijack an android and control it. She knew if she did not complete the assignment, she and her family could be labeled as traitors and executed immediately. However, she felt like coding a patch for this hack could be seen as a betrayal by her parents. She decided that while she may no longer be welcomed by her parents, they would still be alive if she created the patch, so she did. When it came to presentation day, Lennon shook with anxiety. Often times her brain moved faster than her mouth and that would often leave her tongue tied. However, she got through the presentation without too much of a hitch. Waiting for the rest of the schools to present was excruciating. At the end of the presentation, Princeps Ares presented her high school with the winning team prize. She then announced Lennon as the winner of the contest.
Lennon became the youngest programmer ever at IMPERium. On her first day of work, she was kicked out of the family home. She spent a week undergoing IMPERium’s mental evaluations, but she passed. Lennon worked for the company for years and created many of the programs that currently run all types of androids. In fact, she also created the anti-hacking firewall that is installed on all of the androids around the world. At her fifth-year anniversary party, the Princeps gathered to give her a gift. They flipped on the large screen and Lennon saw her parents on a platform. The gift was the company executing her parents for treason. Lennon held herself together when she just wanted to fall apart. From that day forward, she knew that her mission was to destroy IMPERium from the inside. She began reaching out to her parents' contacts, with disappointing results at first. However, upon searching every hiding space in their former home, she found a chip in the attic. When she reviewed the materials, she saw mention of a place called Salutem, with the names Edilyn Moreau, Ben Weiss, and Sanders McCoy. Lennon searched everywhere for these people and was finally able to get in contact with them. They met at a small restaurant in her childhood neighborhood. She was amazed that the three rebels were able to enter the city without being detected. They administered their test and she was immediately told to pack only her essential belongings. Sanders accompanied her to her small apartment downtown and stood guard while Lennon said goodbye to everything she knew. From that day forward, she was a rebel and took over as head of rebel technology at Salutem.
T H E P R E S E N T: 3 years later...
Lennon was the first person that was able to successfully hack into an android and turn its allegiance to the rebellion, which meant hacking her own firewall. As an unexpected result of the hack, the androids she worked with began to exhibit human-like emotions. The first android she was able to hack into was a scanner named 3S, whom she worked with at IMPERium headquarters. Even when she was working at headquarters, 3S was the only android she could actually stand being around and she couldn’t stand the fact that she had abandoned him when she left the city. A year after her exodus, Lennon convinced the leaders and Elijah to take her into the city to bring 3S back to the compound.
After his hack, the two developed an uncanny friendship. They were more like sister and brother, and sometimes Lennon even felt very motherly toward the very curious and innocent android. Lennon was the only one at the compound that actually treated 3S like a person, without any trepidation. In fact, he picked his ‘human name’ based on the little Velociraptor Lennon has sitting on her desk.
Lennon is currently working on recreating the android database for use by the rebels, but it’s proving difficult, even for her. Can she crack the database codes in time? After all, Salutem and the whole rebel alliance is depending on her skills, or they could all die.

Born to parents that immigrated to the United States from South Africa before IMPERium’s take over, Elijah was born a member of a group of horse riding nomads. His parents initially lived in Los Angeles, but during one of the mass exoduses from the city, they transitioned to life in the wilds. The band of nomads they joined was a welcoming group, but the pace they set was brutal. They traveled the country following different herds of large game animals as they made their yearly migrations. Elijah’s father was the group’s best hunter and his mother prepared the meals from the game that his father brought back from the field. Elijah had the happiest childhood one could in the wilds. While there were still times where life was hard, Elijah never went without. In the group, children had the opportunity to pick their future jobs, when they reached the age of 18. From age 18 to 21, they went through an apprentice program to perfect the trade. The children could pick from a variety of careers, like hunters, tailors, cooks, raiders, and craftsman to name a few. It was a shame that comedian wasn’t one of the career choices because Elijah always had the perfect joke for any situation.
Elijah had already been watching the Raiders for many years. In fact, he would often sneak away from the group, when the tutors were busy with other children, and watch the Raiders do their work. There was always one scout that would ride ahead and make sure the path ahead was safe and free of obstacles. When the scout reported that the coast was clear, the rest of the riding party would head forward to their destination and surround the property. The Raiders prided themselves on being peaceful. The Raiders were responsible for making sure that the properties they raided were truly abandoned. The group never stole from anyone. Every time Elijah saw a Raider ride out on horse back, his mind wandered to what new and exciting things the party would see out on the open road. When he was finally able to apprentice, Elijah made sure to absorb all of the information he could, sticking close to his idol the group’s Lead Raider. Elijah was a quick study and his confidence increased ten fold. When he was dubbed the best Raiding apprentice that the group had seen thus far, Elijah beamed with pride and he also made sure that no one forgot just how good he was.
Upon graduation, Elijah saddled up for his first raid on a small farm outside of the now desolate Kansas City. Elijah acted as scout and rode ahead of the rest of the party. As he rounded the corner of the house, the hair stood up on the back of his neck. Being the cocky young guy that he was, Elijah ignored the warning and continued on. The coast seemed clear and he rode back to the party. The party rode to the house together and surrounded it, in the usual manner. A loud screeching came out of the house and then the screams started. A group of vagrants flooded out of one of the south facing windows of the home. In a matter of seconds, they forced one of the riders off of their horse and dispatched him. Elijah was horrified. He bolted off into a small collection of trees, leaving the rest of the party to fend for themselves. By the time the group returned, two members had been murdered at the farm house. Because he had accepted the scout role, it was Elijah’s responsibility to keep the raiders safe. He was put on trial and exiled from the group for putting others in danger. Elijah’s heart broke, because he knew he failed not only his family group but especially his parents.
Elijah was given a horse, enough supplies for a few weeks, and was sent off into the wilds unable to ever return to his family. Elijah traveled for over two years before he made his way east. He kept his ear to the ground to find another group that might accept him. He’d overheard some rumors in a small town’s saloon about a community that has started in Virginia. While Elijah was not too confident in the rumors, he still headed in Virginia’s direction, hoping that his reputation from his former life would not follow him here. He spent a month wandering around the Virginia wilds looking for any sign of this community that everyone had been talking about. He had finally gotten to the point where he was going to write off the rumors when he came across one of the guard’s for the compound performing his rounds. After the guard’s initial assessment and questioning, he determined that Elijah was not an android and took him to the main entrance, which simply looked like a decaying pile of rubble.
Elijah was met at the gate by the three leaders of the community. They administered their test. Elijah confessed what he regretted most. He confessed everything about the farm house and how he had failed himself and his family group and people died because of it. The leaders looked at each other and then beckoned Elijah to come forward as a member of Salutem.

Today, Elijah is now the Lead Raider for Salutem. His job is to train, lead, and protect everyone who works as a Raider, while also providing for the community. He taught the original Raiders of the group the same techniques he learned from his family group. The success rate on raids rose to over 75%, as a result. Elijah is incredibly good at his job and he knows it. The sense of humor he lost while he had been on his own had finally returned and now he is known as Salutem’s resident jokester. While he does make his usual jokes, Elijah would do absolutely anything that Edilyn or Ben asked him to do. They trusted him, even though they knew about his biggest mistake, so he has the utmost respect for them.
However, times are getting tougher. Raiding teams are coming back with fewer supplies than before and the community is having to rely on getting their supplies in other ways. Now, Elijah and his Raiders have a two-fold mission when they go into the wilds. Along with collecting supplies, they are also searching for any sign of IMPERium amassing an army.

E A R L Y L I F E:
Ben has been on his own for longer than he can remember. He was born in the wilds of Maine to a young mother. The wilds are all Ben knows. In fact, IMPERium was more like a fairytale than reality in their very rural area. His mother, Emma, wasn’t a bad mother, she simply didn’t know that much about how life really worked. She absolutely loved Ben and went without so that he did not. His mother ran a small apothecary business out of their small stone and wood hut and he would often go out to gather the herbs and medicinal plants they sold to the nomads that roamed the wilds. He knew how to both cure and kill a person using only plants, before his tenth birthday. Most of his days were spent finding food and supplies, creating new tools, and avoiding every hazard there was in the wilds. Life was hard, but it was an honest one. Ben grew up along with the land and he adapted and learned quickly to ensure his survival. He knew exactly when and where herds of deer and other game hid.
One night in December when Ben was 13, he returned from a three-day hunting trip to find his mother on the floor. She was still breathing, but unconscious and sweating profusely. He quickly got her into bed and brewed her a tea of every healing herb he could think of. However, he had never seen a sickness like this. Within a day, she was gone. The sickness moved too quickly. He buried his mother in her favorite snow-covered meadow. He struggled on whether to leave their small hut and move on. It was the middle of winter and food was already scarce. However, he knew that if certain visitors knew he was the only one living there, he’d be in trouble. He was very strategic in his packing. He packed the warmest clothes and blankets he owned, along with water, and the smoked, dried meat that he and his mother were living off during the winter.
However, the wilds were full of terrors. Threats came in all forms, like wild animals, other people, and androids. While he knew that androids existed, Ben had not yet seen one in person, up to this point. The first time he ran into android, Ben just thought he was a desperate nomad, trying to steal his supplies. In the forest outside of IMPERium controlled New York City, Ben was stopped by a figure cloaked in rags. The figured asked for some food and water. Feeling sorry for the obviously downtrodden character, Ben pulled his pack off of his back and began to dig through it for some supplies. As soon as the figure picked Ben up by the throat with inhuman speed, he knew he was not dealing with anything human. Those fairy tales his mother used to tell him about androids had now become a reality. That was the last time an android got the better of Ben. He managed to get himself out of the androids grasp and hide, with only a gash to his neck. However, that injury slowed him down and that android followed him for three days, before giving up and wandering off to find a new target.
After the incident, Ben knew he needed to find a place he would be accepted. Even though he grew up in the wilds, surviving alone at 15 was not the wisest choice. While at a well with a few other nomads, Ben heard some rumors about a sanctuary for people living in the wilds, just north of the abandoned city of Syracuse. It was called Sanctorum and all were welcome if you could pass a test and you were willing to work. It took Ben a week to make it to the outskirts of Syracuse, where he collapsed from the infection that filled the gash on his neck. He laid there overnight, delirious until he heard voices approach him. He knew just knew that this was the end. However, he felt his body get hoisted into the air and the pain caused him to black out.
Ben regained consciousness in a bright room. A man sat next to the bed he was laying in quietly reading. As soon as the man saw that Ben was awake he administered the Sanctorum test and announced that Ben was now a citizen of the community, right before he passed out again.
Life in Sanctorum was hard work, but it was worth it to have a hot meal and a bed to sleep in every night. However, being forced to stay behind the community’s walls made him stir crazy. Ben spent 5 years at Sanctorum, before deciding that it was time to go back into the wilds. After saying goodbye to all of the residents of the community, Ben set off and ventured south. After crossing into Virginia, he set up camp close to a clear water stream. At the stream, he ran into two girls. Ben was untrusting of strangers, but couldn’t help feeling a kinship to the older girl, Edilyn. An unlikely companionship and the beginnings of their bond was based on an unsteady truce. Ben needed Edilyn for her uncanny ability to find fresh water and invent helpful tools out of next to nothing. She needed him to be able to get real sustenance like large game. The uneasy truce soon became an easy partnership. They both agreed that IMPERium needed to be destroyed and began plotting. As a result, they slowly began to pick up more followers. They came up with a test for new followers, to ensure that there were no IMPERium spies. After roaming in the woods of Virginia, their group became too big to continue nomadically. They finally found an old gated community, that had been left to rot, that fit all of their criteria. Thus Salutem was founded.
T H E P R E S E N T: 15 years later…
Salutem has become a sanctuary for citizens of the wilds and those that want to leave the harsh reality of the cities under IMPERium’s rule. The once derelict neighborhood has now become a thriving working civilization in the wilds. Ben, Edilyn, and Sanders are fair leaders and are more than willing to give everything they have to their citizens. However, times are getting tough and raiding expeditions are coming back with less and less of the commodities that the group needs to survive. While the group has made great strides to pull androids to their side, copying the technology to keep their friends running effectively and sympathetic to their cause has been proving difficult. The safety of all the people at Salutem is his top priority, but it’s coming down to the wire and Ben has a choice to make. Instead of always being defensive, maybe it was time to make an offensive attack on IMPERium? Is Ben ready to take on IMPERium, an entity that he only learned existed 8 years ago? Can Salutem take down the company? Stay tuned to find out…

E A R L Y L I F E:
Edilyn Moreau was born to Dr. James Moreau and his wife Elizabeth. Dr. Moreau not only worked for IMPERium, but was one of the four members of the board of directors; the only people to have direct access to IMPERium founder Rex. The board handled the operations of the global company and were the only representatives of upper management that the common people saw. As a result of her father’s station, Edilyn was expected to be a proper and respectable lady in Washington D.C. society. She wore the finest clothes and had an unparalleled education. Five years after her birth, her younger sister Charlotte was born to the Moreaus. Edilyn couldn’t have been happier. She absolutely adored her little sister. Edilyn was the happiest little girl in the city and the Moreaus were the perfect family. However, this all changed as soon as the Princeps project started. Dr. Moreau was often away from home for days on end, working on the top secret project. When he was home, he was unlike the father Edilyn had loved. He grew increasingly violent. Elizabeth bore the brunt of her husband’s violence and shielded her daughters from it.
One night, Dr. Moreau’s anger went too far. Elizabeth had hidden her daughters in a panel in the wall, right before Dr. Moreau arrived home from work. He flew into a rage and beat Elizabeth until she stopped moving. Edilyn watched the lights leave her mother’s eyes. From that day forward, she vowed to protect Charlotte from any harm. She always took the beatings her father dished out. As the project went on, Edilyn saw less and less of her father. However, each time he returned to the family home, she recognized less and less of the father she loved in the half-man half-android of the same name. She soon began to concoct a plan to escape with Charlotte. She began researching everything she could, without calling attention to her plan. One night when she was 18, Edilyn grabbed her sister in the middle of the night and made a beeline to the city walls with two back packs and enough food to last the two girls a week.
Once they made it into the wilds, Edilyn struggled to keep the two of them fed and safe. They were constantly on the run. After a few brushes with death, by dehydration, androids, and vagrants, Edilyn happened onto a vagrant named Ben Weiss. Ben was a surly and an unlikely companion and the beginning of their bond was based on an unsteady truce. Ben needed Edilyn for her uncanny ability to find fresh water and invent helpful tools out of next to nothing, a trait she got from her father. She needed him to be able to get real sustenance, rather than just the plants and occasional squirrel she was able to get her hands on. The uneasy trust soon became an easy partnership. They both agreed that IMPERium needed to be destroyed and began plotting their revenge. As a result, they slowly began to pick up more followers. They came up with a test for new followers, to ensure that there were no IMPERium spies in the community they were forming. After roaming in the woods of Virginia, their group became too big to continue nomadically. They finally found an old gated community, that had been left to rot, that fit all of their criteria. Thus Salutem was founded.
