Sometimes all you need is something to take you away from reality for a while. This is how I do so, below is what I read. Feel free to ask questions or post suggestions on books I should read.

I recommend this book, but do warn readers of the descriptive elements of severely ill children. This may be hard for some readers. What a well written emotional ride this was. Different from the work I’m used to reading from Mackintosh, but not disappointed. This book was particularly hard to read given the story line. I am not a parent and I can’t even begin to imagine what it would be like having to go through the events in this book. Knowing that Mackintosh herself has lost a child and written this story from experience, made it all the more difficult to read. Not difficult in the way that it’s badly written or not enjoyable or the story line is non relatable. Difficult emotionally and in some ways mentally challenging. Knowing that Mackintosh not only had to go through this once, but multiple times. Every time she sat down to write this story. Everyday parents and families have to decide the future for their sick loved ones, loved ones that sometimes haven’t even had the chance to live even a small portion of a life every human should get. So many people experience this life everyday and it makes us realise that without doctors, medical professionals and the ever increasing technology in the medical field. How many more precious lives would be taken too soon? I really enjoyed this book. The second half was a little slower, but it did not stop me from getting through it. I hope people enjoy it 🧡
Max and Pip are the strongest couple you know. They’re best friends, lovers—unshakable. But then their son gets sick and the doctors put the question of his survival into their hands. For the first time, Max and Pip can’t agree. They each want a different future for their son.

Position Vacant: Two ancient old women residing at Providence Retirement Villa seek male assistant for casual exploitation and good-natured humiliation. Duties include boutique shopping, fast-food fetching, and sincerely rendered flattery. Good looks a bonus—but we aren’t picky. An advertisement has been placed (again!) by the wealthy and eccentric Parloni Sisters. The salary is generous and the employers are 90 years old, so how hard could the job be? Well, none have lasted longer than a week. Most boys leave in tears. Ruthie Midona will work in Providence’s front office, and be at the Parloni’s beck and call, forever. That’s sort of her life plan. If Ruthie can run the place in her almost-retired bosses’ absence, with no hijinks/hiccups, she has a shot at becoming the new manager. She might also be able to defend her safe little world from Prescott Development, the new buyer of the prime site. Maybe after all that, she can find a cute guy to date. All she needs to do is stay serious—and that’s what she does best. Until, one day, someone dazzling blows into town. Teddy Prescott devotes his life to sleeping, tattooing, and avoiding seriousness. When Teddy needs a place to crash, he makes a deal with his developer dad. Teddy can stay in one of Providence’s on-site maintenance cottages—right next door to an unimpressed Ruthie—but only if he works there and starts to grow up. Ruthie knows how this sweetly selfish rich boy can earn his keep—and be out of her hair in under a week. After all, there is a position vacant…

The thick glass of a mason jar cuts deep and the pain washes out the sorrow until there is nothing but calm. You don't have to think about your father and the bridge. Your best friend who is gone forever. Or your mother who has nothing left to give you. Every new scar hardens Charlie's heart just a little more, yet it still hurts so much. It hurts enough to not care anymore, which is sometimes what has to happen to find your way back from the edge.

Chasing antelopes(why all this caused all that)~Dr Robin J Willcourt u
Seriously wow!
If you have ever questioned your medical professionals on advice been given to you. Or you are just curious about your general health. I would most definitely give this a read. This book will open up your eyes to so many things. It's not a normal read, so it may take you some time to get through and it may take you a few times of putting down and picking back up again. But in saying that, if you stick to it. You will be amazed and it will make you second guess what your medical professionals tell you. Your body is your temple, only you know how it works and what does and doesn't work for you. Will you want the advice of a doctor/medical professional again after reading this?...who knows, that is your decision to make.
Chasing Antelopes is about how we manage our lives - and our health - in the modern world in the face of strong institutions, including the medical profession and "big pharma." And, it is also about the role played by academic research in our lives, and just how coherent and robust this research sometimes actually is. The author, Robin J. Willcourt, is a leading anti-aging expert currently residing in Australia. He has had a long and illustrious career, in both the USA and Australia, as a medical doctor specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. In Chasing Antelopes, to illustrate what is really going on and to explain "why all this caused all that," the author explores current, relevant - and sometimes controversial - topics including evolution, the human genome, obesity, cholesterol, the Paleolithic diet, hormones, sex (between humans and between certain chimpanzees), the ice age, and global warming. For example, current medical practice says that if you don't sleep well, or if you have a low sex drive, or if you are feeling a little off color, you must be depressed and therefore need to take anti-depressants. Frustrated at seeing mankind's once vibrant curiosity and willingness to question potentially misguided thinking virtually stamped out, Robin J. Willcourt, in Chasing Antelopes, takes us on a journey - using fully documented sources and peer reviewed published academic research - that challenges our thinking and encourages us to adopt new strategies to better manage our own well-being.
