Pokemon Theory

Nidorino and Nidorina are the natural adult forms of the Nidoran species.

They only evolve into Nidoking and Nidoqueen after exposure to the very rare Moon Stones, implying they should be a more rare Pokemon.

My theory is that Nidoking and Nidoqueen are like the classic movie monster/Kaiju where a mundane animal is mutated into a large bipedal monster with new abilities and powers along with exaggerated features iconic of their base species
