Tomorrow we will launch the very first ever exhibition of Gabriel Gordon Blackshaw’s work at the Fulland Gallery here in Glendale, California.
Gabriel Gordon Blackshaw was born in 1898 in Glendale and died, probably in the Selkirk Mountains, Wash., in 1950. His remains have never been found. But his photographic legacy survives! Throughout his life he has been a “lover of snow”, having photographed snow in a variety of forms for over thirty years.
The exhibiton has been made possible through the generous support of Blackshaw’s estate, Douglas and Patil Peran, and the Glendale Photographic Society. Funds were provided in part by the Mersam family.
There will be a small reception at the Fulland tomorrow (7/23) at noon. Elsa Arlington will speak about Blackshaw’s life and work and introduce the exhibition.
Join us from July 23rd through August 17th!
As an introduction to Gabriel Blackshaw’s work we have chosen a selection of snow-sovered cars, a motif to which he has returned time and again.
