AGENT DELGADO ; A SELF-PARA. 

synopsis: following gallagher’s graduation, rafa enjoys the few weeks of summer that he has until he joins the cia. it isn’t long before he’s shipped off to training where he meets new friends and maybe some potential foes. following the training, rafa’s asked to go on his very first official mission where things don’t go exactly according to plan. 

suggested listening: the playlist is made of songs that i think fit the mood and/or vibes of the various scenes. the songs for each section are included underneath each heading, but they’re also in order in this playlist. i’ve added some extras to fit the vibes for some scenes. 

note: okay, so. the final para with rafa! it’s A Lot™ because of him joining the cia. so there are fight scenes, depictions of his missions, m*rder, grief, violence. all of that. it’s nothing too bad ( or at least i hope it isn’t ), but please take that into consideration before reading! i’ll tag all the potential triggers in the tags, and let me know if i need to add anything else. if you do end up reading it, i can’t thank you enough because yeah... it took me six months to write this. i love and miss you all so much.

maia.

maia pressed herself up to her toes to meet his lips halfway, her eyes closing slightly as she felt the kiss on her forehead. it immediately relaxed her, and she let out a gentle sigh as she looked back up to him. “okay,” she said, nodding her head, believing what he was saying. “but you’re going to have to dance with me. at least once.” she paused, a realization hitting her and she had to force herself not to get overly emotional. “it’s your last gallagher event before you leave me.” she could help the pout that slipped on her face. “so dancing is a requirement.” 

     “of course,” rafa says softly, hand squeezing hers lightly to reassure her. he doesn’t necessarily enjoy or like dancing, but for his girlfriend, he’ll suffer through a few of them. “and i’m just graduating,” he says with a laugh before continuing. “and i’ll be close if you ever need anything.” until he has to travel for his job, but he keeps that part to himself. he can tell that maia’s emotions are high, so he’s just trying his best to make their last event together enjoyable. “but say the word, and we’ll go dance.”

“‘Scuse me, ex-cuse me.” Wilder turns lefts, right, and back to weave through the crowd with his wing, bumping people clumsily regardless. “Sorry.” He cheers almost, wide smile, till he feels his wings smack someone and he turns back to apologize–only to see it’s Rafa. “Oh...oops.” Sucks to suck. @gldensvns​

     he’s confused a little when someone runs into him, and he’s not expecting to turn around and see wilder in wings. rafa offers the other a small smile, not even going to expect an apology because those are the vibes he’s getting from wilder. “nice wings.” a small part of him means it, the other part is just shocked that he’s wearing them.

“ am i doing it right? ” twerking – he’s been practicing for beyoncé, but he looks like tina from bob’s burgers. more importantly: “ will she remember me? ”

     “i think you’re asking the wrong person for that,” rafa says with a laugh, rolling his eyes at his friend. “but there’s no way she can. you should try to meet her.”

“Second since getting here or second including pregame?” Ria pouted at him, “Are you having fun or being grumpy? No grumpy allowed.” 

     “second since getting here,” rafa answers, he’s not trying to get too drunk! “i think i’m having enough fun, haven’t been told that i’m being grumpy.”

“Great timing, I was just going to get myself a drink.” He takes the glass from his friend, taking a good sip. “It’s the least we deserve! Imagine having to graduate tomorrow and we didn’t get to get trashed the night before.”

     “i felt like you needed one anyways,” rafa says, his smile wide before laughing. “well hopefully we won’t be hungover tomorrow walking across the stage.”

“Nice to see Gallagher using that generational wealth for good,” she said as she took a small sip from her glass. “But I did see that there’s more gardens than before. Not surprised.”

     “the free booze is something that we always look forward to and one of the only reasons why people keep coming to these things.” he says with a smile as he sees harper. “didn’t think you’d end up coming back.” but he is happy to see her.

      𝚒𝚝’𝚜  𝚏𝚒𝚝𝚝𝚒𝚗𝚐  𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚝  they  find  themselves  commandeering  the  bar  the  moment  the  bartender  says  they’re  on  break  .  they  toss  a  bottle  up  in  the  air  ,  easily  catching  it  in  the  same  hand  as  the  other  holds  two  bottles  .  satomi  pours  the  liquids  into  the  mixing  glass  ,  stirs  it  and  pours  it  into  another  glass  to  serve  .  leaning  against  the  counter  ,  they  turn  to  spot  someone  at  the  bar  .  “  any  drink  requests  ?  ”

     “kinda wish i knew about your bartending skills earlier than right before we’re supposed to graduate.” rafa says with a laugh, leaning up against the bar. “surprise me.”

– “ARE YOU GOING TO EAT ANY OF THOSE FANCY CUPCAKES?” LOUIS ASKS, deciding not to fuck with the dessert table at all, cross-contamination and such. “ describe it to me in detail so i can live vicariously through you. ” 

     “fancy cupcakes?” rafa looks around finding the display of all of them. he laughs a little, “i wasn’t planning on it, but if you want me to, i can try it.”

Eyes lit up spotting Rafa with a drink in hand. A rare sight, one she definitely wanted to experience. “Please tell me that’s not your first drink of the night. Please. You need to learn to live a little.” She could hope!

     rafa laughs as she comes up to him, shaking his head. “it’s my second, if that’s any consolation.” his last event at gallagher and he’s at least decided to have fun.

“lou told me you went on a mission recently,” dimitri started, coming up from behind rafael with a drink in hand. his free hand was pushed into the pocket of his trousers. looking over at rafa, he raised an eyebrow expectantly. “how did that go?” he asked, a knowing smile on his features. “how are you feeling?” // @gldensvns​

     he wonders how many alumni actually know about his mission, but with alec’s sister here and dimitri’s girlfriend, he’s not too surprised it got to them. “i’m feeling like i need to practice more sparring than anything else,” he admits with a laugh. “that way the next one i don’t get a fractured rib.”

“Heard you went on a mission.” News from Gallagher to DC passed through the grapevine especially quickly considering the grapevine was his sister, who loved sharing all the school gossip. “How did that go?”

     rafa shrugs his shoulders at the question, glad that pretty much all of his bruising has gone down at this point. “it went alright,” he begins with a sigh. “until we absolutely got our asses handed to us. one of my ribs got fractured but i have a few more weeks until it should completely heal.”

“there’s my man,” maia said, grinning as she moved around one of her classmates and found herself in front of rafa. she reached up, fixing the jacket of his suit and moving it so it laid flat over his abdomen. her fingers moved to lay just above his waistband, and she looked over him to try and gauge how he was feeling. “are you having fun? if you’re in too much pain, we can leave at any time.” she knew that these events weren’t his favorite, and with the broken rib still healing, she didn’t want to push him. // @gldensvns​

     rafa leans down, pressing a soft kiss against her forehead. he knew going into this maia would worry about him, but he’s been better in the weeks since his mission. “i’m doing fine, babe,” he shakes his head. “it hurts a little bit if i do too much, but it’s not like i’m the biggest fan of dancing so i’ll be okay.” plus, it’s his last dance as a student, and as much as he complains, it’s not like he actually dislikes it.

     walking up to his friend, he offers him one of the drinks he got from the open bar. “having an open bar for the last event is probably the best thing they could have done for us.”
