The Epic Reunited (at what cost...but i am still here for it) Scene Breakdown
The way he literally SWOOPS her up into a hug. Their height difference because her feet dangle when she just leans into him for all the support 😭
Their tight embrace because poor girl has been through so much and she’s exhausted af and LG hates that she had to experience that.
The way he hugs her even tighter and cradles her head with his eyes shut tight because he’s so glad she’s still alive.
The way she hugs him hard and grasps his coat and you can see her still trembling in exhaustion even without seeing her face.
His surprise at how awfully tired and cut up (or pretty bandage like) she looks. And his hand constantly on her face 🥺
And then his immediate sadness for her that she had to go through all that, and she almost was in the hands of his arch enemy.
Her let’s skip the thank you 🥺
The way these idiots can still make jokes in such a dramatic scene 😩
You can tell how fatigued, in pain, and in love she looks here. Her RELIEF that he came when she was at the end of her power and that the day he gave her flowers wasn’t the last time she would see him. She missed the hell out of him.
Their HANDS. I LOVE the details of their hands in every scene. They convey so so much about their emotions. They’re both too happy and at a loss of words to have not lost one another that they can’t let go of each other. Who knows when their last moment together could be?
I was going to put more but alas only 10 images per post. Hope you understand why this scene hit so terribly hard.

LEE GON HAS DONE IT! HE’S JUST BESTED HIS OWN EPIC MATH LOVE CONFESSION! HE CALLS TAE EUL A FUCKING WARRIOR, FOR DRAMA GOD’S SAKE, HIS WARRIOR! He’s basically worshipping the altar of Tae Eul’s awesomeness and badassery!
He might have helped her in the end but only after she saved herself and did everything to get to him. He’s called her beautiful many times but him praising her for her skills and courage, something which comes within her, means so much to her. Her father and her colleagues take her strength and bravery for granted so she doesn’t hear praise from them, but to Lee Gon, she is like a miracle and he never ceases to be in awe of her.
Deep down, Tae Eul is actually insecure that Gon might mistake her doppelganger for her; however, he defeats all of them when he enumerates everything he knows about her because HE DOES KNOW HER, THE REAL HER, maybe even better than she knows herself. He knows the shape of her face to perfection, every hair on her forehead, each trembling smile,… (I think he’s been tactful here, omitting the tiny little detail how she likes to him.)
And then he gets the typical underwhelming reaction from Tae Eul. I love his resigned sigh and look of a man who’s been through this one too many times, yet he keeps soldiering on like a trooper.

ASDFGHJKL!!! THE MAN IS EXTRA AF! LEE GON PUBLICLY ANNOUNCES HIS BETROTHAL TO TAE EUL WHILE WIELDING A LEGENDARY SWORD AND LEADING A CAVALRY CHARGE AND SMALL ARMY TO HER DEFENCE!
And that’s right after she fought and shot her way out of captivity like the utter badass she is. And then she runs to him, even though she has no idea where he is, because he is her safety and because she knows that he would go to the end of the world to find her. And, of course, he does and Tae Eul, who’s been so strong until that moment, finally breaks down and begins to cry. They are so meant for each other, it’s unreal!
And while most male leads would die for the love of their life, LEE GON KILLS FOR HIS. He slashes through anyone who keeps him away from Tae Eul and fights his way through to her. He’s so fucking desperate and livid and afraid to lose her because Lee Rim had taken his father from him, then his uncle and now, he’s trying to hurt the only woman he’s ever love and Lee Gon would have none it.

Okay so Yeong's reaction to Shin Jae asking him if they're dating is so on point.
They aren't dating. But he loves Lee Gon. He loves and protects this man with his whole heart and body. And Gon loves him. They have loved each other from when they were four and eight until now.
This show is saying, hey, look it's good to love your friends and not be afraid of that. It doesn't have to be romantic (this isn't me trying to straight wash them, Eun Sup is clearly an undiscovered bisexual wonder and therefore I'd bet money on Yeong having at least inclinations).
But the bigger meaning is that love prevails. Lee Gon is loved by Yeong. Tae Eul. Court Lady Noh. Deeply, well, and truly. Something Lee Lim has never had or known.
Kim Go Eun wins all the awards for how gut wrenching her performance was. Her fear, her strength, her utter inability to stay on her feet when she finally felt safe. She and Lee Minho have great chemistry and these last two episodes ramped it up. The problem is that the written trajectory doesn't support it. Not that it isn't there.
Honestly, this drama deserves to be bigger than it is. It's a whole mood.

Lee Gon is actually saying, “It’s just a stain.” He doesn’t say the word “blood” or “my” or “not.” He’s literally saying, that he’s just stained. He got messy.
This is actually a pretty big difference to note because you can tell how lowly he thinks of the men he killed before rescuing Tae-eul. If he actually said, “It’s not my blood”, then that would imply he thinks his enemies as still human. But this nuance shows he had no mercy cutting those men down. Obviously, a very clear theme from the previous episode (episode 11).
Come on, Netflix. Do better for the international fans, please.
