This is why Coco is always queen. Also the coloring is very Mert and Marcus circa 2009, love it.

It’s really a wonder that I haven’t dropped all my ideals, because they seem so absurd…Yet I keep them, because in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart. I simply can’t build my hopes on a foundation of confusion, misery, and death…and yet, I think this cruelty will end, and that peace and tranquility will return again.

Costume Institute Gala 2013 - "Punk: Chaos to Couture" Part 2/4 (Menswear)
Through the years, I've come to appreciate menswear more and more. And tbh, with the amount of women looks that I still have to go through, eto na lang muna HAHA.
FIRST OF ALL EVERYONE JUST SIT THE F-- DOWN BECAUSE MARC JACOBS HAS PANTS AND A SHIRT ON.
It's polka-dot and he has a ribbon bowtie on with a shirt that has a Peter Pan collar..I oddly approve, even with the Chucks.
1. Eddie Redmayne
Let's just get him out of the way, really. This man is just capturing my heart all the style awards. #GQMF
2. Peter Brant and Harry Brant, Jr.
I would wear those jackets. CALLING MISHKA CAN WE DIY THIS PLS.
3. Sam Shaffer
Printed bowties have become pretty normal, but the unconventional shoe choice seals the deal. Yet again, Anna Wintour has not turned you into a Chanel-wearing, kitten heel-loving robot thank god.
4. Francesco Carrozinni
It's Fracesco in a white suit. And, it gives me an excuse to feature Franca with pink extensions.
5. This man
IDK who he is, but if that suit has a version for women then I want.
6. Kanye West
If Vogue cut her out, who am I to put her in??
Tumblr media
7. Oliver Rouesting
Yes, I don't have an aversion to drop-crotch pants on men like the rest of the world. Except on Bieber.
Look at him rocking his studded shoes and slighly-exposed cleavage like a boss.
8. Jamie Campbell
Again, please ignore Ms. Overkill on the right.
9. Kelly Osbourne's boyfriend
Minus the ratty hair, he looks pretty dapper with his suit. Yeap, I didn't even bother to look for his name.
10. Arthur Mornington
Predictable, but it works.
11. Gavin Rossdale
I love this print.
AND OF COURSE #NEVAR4GET 12. Hamish Bowles
Just. UGH. Thank you for shutting it down EVERY YEAR.
Runner-ups AKA "Just here as eye-candy" (Srsly why would I even make a menswear post #halfjoke)
Gabriel Mann and Sebastian Stan
Tumblr media
Josh Dallas
Oh, I see you forming a puddle of your own saliva on the floor. Don't forget to clean that up :)
AAND the ones I just can't leave out (for the opposite reasons)
He's wearing striped socks and just the most awesome shoes with that high-waisted pant. INSANE. TWEEDLE-DEE ANG PEG (Kasi laki ng difference niya kay twedle-dum diba)
DISCUSS. I just have this scene playing in my head of Matthew Morrison wanting to look "fashiown" so he grabs the first printed suit he sees, and "finishes it off" with that hideous scarf. LOL K MR SCHUESTER. KAYA KA LAGING TALO SA SECTIONALS EH.

Costume Institute Gala 2012 -- "Punk: Chaos to Couture" Part 1/4 (Socialites)
Punk. My first thoughts when I heard that this year's theme was revolved around this one phrase -- Oh. God. Why. Don't get me wrong, this was not because I wasn't a fan of punk. On the contrary, I am always very excited to see who adheres to the theme and who pushes the envelope during the MET Ball, and this theme practically REQUIRES you to do so. However, after last year's Schiaparelli and Prada event where PRACTICALLY NO ONE WORE PRADA (or even tried to follow Prada's aesthetics) and last last year's McQueen exhibit (where yet again no one wore McQueen, or wore clothes that were not at all in line with McQueen's aesthetic), I pretty much try to just forget the theme altogether and just admire the clothes as they are (which sometimes are just so boring you wonder why these people even bother showing up at all). I think The Economist put into words what I feel exactly. With their attendees being socialites, celebrities, and fashion editors, this theme basically set everyone up to fail from the very start. #EndOfMyAnnualWordyFeelings Anyway, as much as I vent every year, magfefeature pa rin naman ako ng best dressed kasi di ko matiis #damipangsinabieh
So everyone basically dressed up like how you would expect them to based on the theme - studs, black, that-shit-cray-basta-mukhang-di-naligo-at-mabaho attire, so I chose looks that tried to adhere to the theme in a more unconventional way
In no particular order:
1. Girl In The Pink Jumpsuit
Long gown biglang may pajama sa loob! She seems above 40 yet she's in 5-inch spiky stilettos. Yep. 2. Kathryn Neale Shaffer Props to this woman for having Anna Wintour as a mom-in-law and still living to tell the tale  still keeping her style in tact and dressing up IN THEME. Seriously I love Queen Anna but that woman cannot follow a theme to save her life. 3. Erica Bearman
You know, minus the Botox. 4. Wendy Murdoch
This woman TOOK AN UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT for her husband and she deserves this. You go Glen Coco. Plus props for choosing to accessorize the way she did. Tough to not be overwhelmed with everything but girl managed.
5. THIS GROUP. Actually, girl in the suit especially.
because PRINTS.
6. Plum Sykes
People tend to think that PUNK = CRAY, but her minimalism is a refreshing look in the sea of blacks and mohawks. Brings us back to the feel of the 90s.
7.
Mmhm, you know she knows she looks good.
8. Allison Sarofim
Gala-appropriate punk na mukhang restrained and really chose her accessories well/didn't just pile on every single thing she OWNED.
9. Dr. Lisa Airen
The veil, the tights. Just, the drama of it all. Doesn't disappoint every year.
Just an unrelated little nugget because she looks fab here.
10. Courtin-Clarins Sisters
It's like how Mary Kate and Ashley but Versace-fied. Love the legit #throwbackthursdays vibe to Madonners.
11. Marina Rust Connor
Girlfriend is wearing elbow-length leather gloves with some silk hoodie bolero hybrid thing looking minimalist and PHRESH. Proof that you don't have to look like bait to Magpies to look fierce.

Gurl you dead right now.
“IT’S GAME ON FROM NOW ON!” - Naomi Campbell “I’m very disappointed in your choice Karolina,” says Naomi in the clip above. “And all I’m going to tell you is it’s game on from now on.” Enough said. Can you feel the drama? I’ve seen that some blogs are already calling it “staged,” but I can assure you this show is anything but fake. As you will see in February, The Face is a reality-based competition on every level. We coaches are all in it to win it and you the viewer are in for quite a ride…
Oxygen is now airing the first-ever promos for its modeling competition show, The Face, which premieres this February. The Face, hosted by photographer Nigel Barker, stars Naomi Campbell, Karolina Kurkova and Coco Rocha as model coaches who mentor up-and-comers — one of whom will become the face of ULTA Beauty.

This looks like a possible guilty pleasure. I'm legit excited. ANTM's got nothing on this. QUEEN NAOMI IS HERE, Tyra's your argument is irrelevant. thefaceoxygen:
The official trailer for “The Face” was just released. To say we’re excited would be putting it far, far too mildly.

Costume Institute Gala 2012 -- "Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations" Part 3/3
So I dedicated this post to the WTF moments in the Met Gala. These aren't necessarily all the worst dressed for me, nor are they the best dressed, they are just, basically, people who wore outfits that took me a couple of minutes to fully take in and comprehend. 1. Anja Rubik and her right leg and hipbone in Anthony Vacarello
So, apart from my first reaction, which was "How did Anja Rubik basically shut off gravity and make her dress immune to its powers?", there was only one other question that I couldn't stop asking myself, and I could only think of one possible answer to that question in my, and probably all of our heads right now:
http://images.bidorbuy.co.za/user_images/095/438095_090508065419_C-String1_25.jpg
Parang napilitan lang ata si Anja Rubik magsuot ng damit sa laki ng mga butas dito eh.
2. Marc Jacobs in Commes Des Garcons
Now, MARC JACOBS here, unlike Anja, already predicted what everyone would be asking and immediately answered it already in this outfit.
But seriously, really? Di man lang black boxers nalang sana?
A for effort, at least he wore something. Well, sort of.
3. Bee Shaffer in Erdem
Tumblr media
Don't get me wrong, I don't really have any problems with this dress. I actually think she looks really good, I like the print, and I even considered her as one of the best dressed of the night.
Until I saw these.
Bee Shaffer in Nina Ricci at the Met Gala 2008
BB WHAT HAPPENED? I didn't know that she had all this FLAWLESSNESSBEAUTIFULFASHIOWNFIERCENESS in her. Now my standards for her are waaay up there. I'm super excited for her to pull off a part 2 of this. Now all her other Met Gala dresses have become invalid to me.
4. Amber Heard in Zac Posen
Many people actually liked this look and put it on their best dressed lists, and I am a BIG FAN of Zac Posen (his suit is fantastic btw), but all I can see is Amber Heard trying to make tissue stuck in her behind look couture.  ATE WAG PILITIN GAWING SEXY ANG NAIPIT NA TISSUE.
That is all.

Costume Institute Gala 2012 -- "Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations" Part 2/3
Tumblr media
Here are the actresses and musicians who actually did bring their A-Game to the event and got the memo that they were attending the Met Ball. 1. Gwyneth Paltrow in Prada (THEM LEGS.)
Tumblr media
  2. Victoria Justice in McQ Alexander McQueen
Tumblr media
3. Marion Cotillard in Givenchy
Tumblr media
4. Brit Marling (Because she looks like a beautiful fairyangelsnowflake in that Valentino)
Tumblr media
  5. Carey Mulligan in Prada
Tumblr media
  6. Leslie Bibb in Zac Posen (TRAIN KUNG TRAIN.)
Tumblr media
7. Leslie Mann in Nina Ricci
Tumblr media
  8. Mia Wasikowska in Prada
Tumblr media
9. Kate Bosworth in Prada
Tumblr media
10. Isabel Lucas (Can I just say, Proenza Schouler makes me like people who I usually don't reall pay attention to, fashion-wise. Last year they made me love Kirsten Dunst's Met Ball dress, and then this year Isabel Lucas. Bless their souls.)
Tumblr media
11. Florence Welch in Alexander McQueen (UWIAN NA GUYS, WALA NA, UWI NA TAYONG LAHAT)
Tumblr media
12. Diane Kruger in Prada (Minimalist biglang BOOM-FEATHER-DUSTER effect <3)
Tumblr media
13. Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan (Okay, so it's a normal red carpet dress, but she just looked sensational that I had to include her)
Tumblr media
  14. Mamie Gummer (Girl on the right)
Tumblr media
  15. KWEEN BEYSUS in Givenchy (YOU. BETTER. WERQ. Even if her Spanx are showing, still fierce)
Tumblr media
  16. Christina Ricci in Thakoon (Now THIS GIRL just brings it EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR. she attends [2011, 2008] Everyone should just STFD and take notes because everyone know that the Met Gala is the Christina Ricci Show)
**A couple of people had her on their worst dressed list, but I love it that she always pushes the envelope every year and really puts on a show for the Met Gala.
Runners-up:
Emma Stone (Lanvin) for looking like she came straight out of the movie Clueless as Cher. The whole 90s look here isn't as wow as the others, but very unexpected.
Tumblr media
Sofia Vergara (Marchesa) because she looks hot. Period.

Costume Institute Gala 2012 -- "Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations" Part 1/3
(Sorry for the uber long text :D)
According to Bill Cunningham's recent Vlog entry in the New York Times website (On The Street -- Fabulosity), the two women currently being featured in the Metropolitan Museum are basically on both ends of the fashion spectrum. For one, Miuccia and Elsa were born during different times. Schiaparelli's designs were coveted during the 30s, while Miuccia Prada rose to fame during the late 80s for her very successful RTW collection for women .
Also, according to Bill Cunningham, Sciaparelli's aesthetic revolved around decadence and whimsy. She made funny, excessive, and "magical" (his term not mine) clothes during a time when fashion was very serious. Prada, on the other hand, is seen as a brand that creates fashionable and very functional clothes for the everyday modern woman.
BUT, I actually beg to differ (ABA chinachallenge si Bill?) Prada's recent collections (especially S/S 2011) have all been very whimsical, yet still remaining true to what Prada is all about, creating great clothes for the 21st century woman. I'd even go on a limb and say that it was Prada who started the current loud-print-in-your-face-comical trend going on in the runways today.
So ang dami ko lang sinabi.
Anyway I really do not want to make this seem like history class, so let's move on to the important part, THE PICTURES.
So AS USUAL, very few actresses (aka the people who are featured in EVERY.SINGLE.GALLERY about the Met Ball) actually dressed according to the theme, and stuck to their tried and tested formula of wearing red carpet dresses that were all, to put it succinctly, boring and safe. I really wanted to see what everyone who attended wore, and who actually dared to push the boundaries in the one night that you're kind of actually applauded for looking like a Ballerina-slash-Ghost-Bride-with-a-touch-of-side-boob-and-a-whole-lot-of-craycray. I want to give credit where credit is due, so here's my list for this year (after scouring for a website that actually had pictures of non-actresses).
In no particular order: 1. Gina Sanders in Prada (May UNICORN siya sa CAPE nya. Arguments are invalid)
Tumblr media
  2. Bianca Brandolini D'adda in Dolce and Gabbana
Tumblr media
3. HBIC Anna Wintour in Prada (Yes, that is a beaded crustacean on the side of her dress)
Tumblr media
  4. Giovanna Battaglia/Frida Kahlo in Dolce and Gabbana (Trivia: Those are fresh flowers in her hair, my favorite out of everyone) She totally filled the Anna Dello Russo void x 10
Tumblr media
5. Caroline Sieber and her magic conch shell Chanel clutch
Tumblr media
Oblig:
  6. Princess Maria Elisabeth von Thurn and Taxis in Mary Katrantzou (Kauhaw ang name)
Tumblr media
  7. Constance Jablonski in Haider Ackermann
Tumblr media
8. Dr. Lisa Airan in Tom Ford (I'm imagining that the whole Rosalinda flower moment isn't happening)
Tumblr media
  9. Lizzie Tisch (THIS is how you wear a Mary Katrantzou dress, take notes, Elizabeth Banks)
Tumblr media
  10. Karolina Kurkova in Rachel Zoe
Tumblr media
  11. Franca Sozzani
Tumblr media
  12. Samantha Boardman (I had to. She looks like a fluffy cupcake, sabay golden crocodile effect sa neck.)
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
13. Angela Lindvall in Prada
14. I'm not quite sure who they are, but I love their dresses.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
15. Cameron Silver in Nicole Miller (This man -- I have no words to explain what is happening in this look.)
16. Linda Fargo in Naeem Khan (PRINCESS LEIA MOMENT)
Tumblr media

Now, Serena was never my favorite character, and let's face it, Gossip Girl really hasn't been that great these days, but I had to reblog this for the accuracy of this analysis.  It just makes me hate the writers even more because they have these characters with so much back story and so much potential, but then they just write stories for the sake of that shock-factor in the expense of ruining every single one of these characters that we're just all so invested in and giving them half-baked crappy stories, instead of building on what makes these characters relatable and human and working on that.
