WODAN ID EST FUROR!
I wanted to create a Horn to celebrate Odin, the Chief of all the Gods, Father of the Sky.
Many things we can say about Odin, but i want that old source may speak first. Here, a passage from "YNGLINGA SAGA". (Second part in the first comment)
.
"Odin could transform his shape: his body would lie as if dead, or asleep; but then he would be in shape of a fish, or worm, or bird, or beast, and be off in a twinkling to distant lands upon his own or other people's business. With words alone he could quench fire, still the ocean in tempest, and turn the wind to any quarter he pleased. Odin had a ship which was called Skidbladnir, in which he sailed over wide seas, and which he could roll up like a cloth. Odin carried with him Mime's head, which told him all the news of other countries. Sometimes even he called the dead out of the earth, or set himself beside the burial-mounds; whence he was called the ghost-sovereign, and lord of the mounds. He had two ravens, to whom he had taught the speech of man; and they flew far and wide through the land, and brought him the news. In all such things he was pre-eminently wise. He taught all these arts in Runes, and songs which are called incantations, and therefore the Asaland people are called incantation-smiths. Odin understood also the art in which the greatest power is lodged, and which he himself practised; namely, what is called magic. By means of this he could know beforehand the predestined fate of men, or their not yet completed lot; and also bring on the death, ill-luck, or bad health of people, and take the strength or wit from one person and give it to another. But after such witchcraft followed such weakness and anxiety, that it was not thought respectable for men to practise it; and therefore the priestesses were brought up in this art."

-swipe- Are you familiar with Celtic religion? Many of the source about that cult, disappeared, with the last collectors of the Faith: Druids. Lack of sousces remains, but this is one of them, from the Gundestrup cauldron, a vessel found in Denmark, the main figure is Cernunnos, Deity of the Celtic tribes.
The whole vessel represents the Whole World as known from the ancient 3 World division and dimension of Earth, the nearest Celestial World and the farthest celestial world.
Maybe the Vessel also once have had a lid in order to show some details regarding "the top" of these 3 Worlds. In that case the imagery would have shown some mythological "world axis" imagery.
.
"Cernunnos, (Celtic: “Horned One”) in Celtic religion, an archaic and powerful deity, widely worshipped as the “lord of wild things.” Cernunnos may have had a variety of names in different parts of the Celtic world, but his attributes were generally consistent. He wore stag antlers and was sometimes accompanied by a stag and by a sacred ram-horned serpent that was also a deity in its own right. He wore and sometimes also held a torque, the sacred neck ornament of Celtic gods and heroes. The earliest known depictions of Cernunnos were found at Val Camonica, in northern Italy, which was under Celtic occupation from about 400 BCE. He is believed to be portrayed on the Gundestrup Caldron, a silver vessel found at Gundestrup in Jutland, Denmark, and dating to about the 1st century BCE.
Cernunnos was worshipped primarily in Britain, although there are also traces of his cult in Ireland. The Christian church strongly opposed him because of his powerful pagan influence. He was used as a symbol of the Antichrist and as such figured in Christian iconography and medieval manuscripts." (Source Britannica.com)

Altar statue Inspired by Urnes style brooches (you can see the findings swiping left).
Have you ever Explored every different style of Viking art? Which one is your favorite?
If youbare interested in a little trip in the different styles, I will make a post for each one in the next days! Let me know in a Comment down below 🍻🔥!
.
"The Urnes style is the last phase of Viking art. It takes its name from the remarkable carved wooden doors of the stave church at Urnes, Norway. The style is a refinement if the Ringerike style and depends upon interplay of gracefully curving lines for its effect. The animals are still curvaceous and one or more snakes are included with the quadrupeds. The spiral hip is still used, but it is not as large as in the Mammen and Ringerike styles. The animals have large almond-shaped eyes and often bite one another.
The Urnes style was often used on runic stones, when the runic inscription was carried within the body of the animal. A fine example from Lingsberg, Uppland, Sweden, has a Christian cross and two Urnes style animals which carry the runic inscription." Source viking.archeurope.com

Honor: are you doing or best to walk this path everyday? The best to be loyal to your kin, loyal to yourself, coherent and sincere?
It is a great struggle, but to me is always at the forst place. Without Honor, to me, nothing else have value.
"Honor is not comfortable.
It demands all you have,
All you are, all you can do.
It wraps you like a chain
That you may only shuffle where others run
And yet that chain will bear you up
When others trip and fall.
It limits you, like the loss of a limb;
You reach, and fall ever short,
Brought up by honor's limitation,
And yet this limiting hones you sharper,
Like a tool that must be cut down to work,
As every sharpening is removal of some of you.
O Lord of Honor, you whose name
Invoked, seals bargains without
A thought of cheating, you whose
Word is law and law is will,
You who are never afraid
To do what must needs be done
Even when there is no question
That there will be great loss,
May we all have half the steel
That lies in you, O warrior one-handed,
In your spine, in your hand,
And in your soul."(Invocation to Tyr feom the Pagan Book of Hours)

The Jellinge Style(c.900-975AD) Was almost contemporary to the Borre Style and developed further into the Mammen Style.
Characterised by S-shaped animals with a ribbon-shaped body without perforations or indentations.
The body of the animal is often filled with a row of beading, double contoured and has an insubstantial spiral-like hip.
The animal heads are in profile with a circular eye, and open jaw, the upper one embellished by a curlicue(lip-lappet).
The bodies of the animals are regularly interlaced without frequent or close intertwining, leaving an open background.
.
One of the most know finging with that Style, is the Silver cup from the JELLING burial. In that horn, the design comes from two different brooches.

• Offering to Mōdraniht •⁣ ⁣ {Swipe for video!}⁣ In honor of this rainy Full Moon & my moontime, I am so excited to introduce my next offering! First photo & video from this morning, after being under the Full Moon❣️⁣ ⁣ She‘s been brewing since spring, being added to throughout my journey this year, when at times the only grounding & strength I was able to pull from was my maternal line & these herbs.⁣ ⁣ An Elixir created to honor the keeper’s of the most sacred elixir that birth’s all of life: Womb Blood.⁣ ⁣ A sacred dedication to the Wild Mysteries of the Great Divine. A tribute to the great goddesses, Frigg & Freyja, the feminine spirits of weaving, Mother Earth & the Foremothers during Mōdraniht (Mother’s Night).⁣ ⁣ The night before Winter Solstice, Norse Ancestors held this powerful ritual to honor the Wise Women of the village for their contributions. This offering intends to connect us to their wild & loving spirits while nourishing our Womb-space.⁣ ⁣ The herbs in this offering were ritually harvested & infused along the moon phases & Sabbaths during this year. First starting with the Hawthorn Blooms from my own trees infusing since Beltane. In fall, I poured the blooms over her berries.. adding wildcrafted Rose hips, Motherwort & soon my Red Rose petal infused local raw honey. All of these herbs are known to help ease the nervous system & energetics of the heart while providing the warmth of a grandmothers hug.⁣ ⁣ This bloom & berry brew will be married with fresh Ginger Root tincture & Ceylon Cinnamon ~ both antispasmodics, traditionally used to help ease menstrual symptoms like nausea, cramps, indigestion & heavy bleeding. Adding to the brew is Cocao Nib tincture; she contains magnesium & may help improve iron levels while bleeding, support natural adrenal function & ease fatigue. Nourishing & satisfying chocolate cravings during Moontime! This combo is also incredibly delicious; taken straight or in a hot beverage❣️⁣ ⁣ Brewing her was so healing & the result is a heart-nourishing anti-viral & immune supporting mix full of nervines that traditional folk herbalists believe also help connect us to the Divine Feminine. ⁣ Check stories for release info!
