First Aid tips for Nose Bleeding
Nosebleeds are common in children. Although they can be scary, you can treat the condition at home. The best you can do is apply a few first aid tricks to manage the situation. This is when your first aid knowledge comes to rescue. If you’re someone who doesn’t have any idea about first aid, it’s better you learn.  There are many institutes offering First aid and CPR courses, with the intention to help people learn the basics and execute the same, when needed.
Before speaking about the tricks, let’s explore some more facts about the health condition.
Causes: Common causes of nose bleeds include a blow to the nose, sneezing, blowing the nose, and high blood pressure. Most nose bleeds are minor and last for a few minutes. The situation can become terrible if someone loses a lot of blood. You need to be careful.
First Aid Treatment
These are the few tricks that can help you make your child feel comfortable and get rid of the terrible situation;
· Make the patient sit up straight and lean forward slightly.  Don’t make the person lie down or tilt the head backward
· Pinch the nose below the bone up against the face, with thumb and index finger. Continue the process for 10-15 minutes. Pinching sends pressure to the bleeding point and often stops the flow of blood. If the bleeding continues, repeat holding pressure for another 10-15 minutes.
· Check the nose after 10 minutes. Release the pressure and again check the nose.
· Give the victim an ice or cold pack to hold against the bridge of her nose to help low down the blood flow.
· If the bleeding has stopped, help the casualty clean the nose with a damp cloth. Tell him/her not to blow the nose and avoid strenuous activity for up to 12 hours.
Preventing Nose Bleeds
You can prevent nosebleed by using humidifiers during winter. This will keep the lining of the nasal passages moistened. A nasal spray is also good to keep the nasal cavities moist. Trimming of fingernails, especially children’s, can help reduce nosebleeds.
