Runaway Dreamer Part 2 (Call The Midwife fanfiction) By Samy
Okay, Here it is part 2 to my CTM fan fic. Again this isn’t perfect but i’m trying my best. :) I really like how this part came out! Look out part 3 next! PLEASE DON’T STEAL
Part Two
Shelagh laid in her bed as the conversation with Angela replayed in her mind; Patrick entered the room closing the door and laid on the bed next to his wife. “What on earth are we going to do with that one?” Patrick asked as she rubbed his tired eyes. Shelagh sat up on the bed. “I have no idea Patrick. We can’t lock her up in her room forever, talking to her just leads to screaming. She’s a teenage girl she’s was bound to act up sooner or later.” Patrick nodded in agreement. “I just don’t understand why she thought it was a good idea to speak to you like that, doesn’t she appreciate everything that we’ve given her?” Shelagh looked at her husband. “Of course she does she’s just upset that we caught her tonight.” “I’m putting bars on her window! I don’t wanna see her with that no good Jason kid again!” Patrick said getting himself all worked up again. “Patrick we can’t treat her like a prisoner. I’m not fond of Jason either maybe with a little luck she’ll soon realize he isn’t good for her.” Shelagh said. Patrick knew his wife was right. “So did you think when you first saw me?” Patrick said smiling. Shelagh rolled her eyes laughing. “I was a nun I wasn’t allowed to think inappropriate thoughts.” Patrick laughed as he kissed Shelagh’s cheek before glancing over the bed side clock reading 7:00. “Well, looks like you missed church and we have to get to the clinic.” He said as he climbed out of bed and headed out the room Shelagh followed. Before leaving the house for the day, Shelagh needed to make sure Angela was alright. She opened her door to only open to a parents worst nightmare; Angela wasn’t there; the window was wide open. Shelagh walked in to see Angela’s guitar was gone, a handwritten note sat on the well made bed reading:
Mum, Dad.
I don’t want to hurt you but this something I have to do.
I have to start fulfilling my own dream. I don’t know where I will be going
but Jason will take care of me. I’m sorry and I love you both.
Love, Angela
Shelagh read the note not wanting to believe the fact that her daughter had runaway from home. “Patrick!” Shelagh called out. Patrick came rushing into the bedroom taking the letter from Shelagh reading it for himself and not believing it. Shelagh eyes welled up with tears and fear. “She couldn’t have gone far. Tim and I will go searching you call the police!” Patrick said as he ran out the room and across the hall to Tim’s room banging on the door. “Tim your sister ran away come with me to find her!” Timothy who was already up slipped on his shoes, coat and ran out the house with his father. Shelagh stood there frozen for a second trying to process what just happened her baby girl was missing. She raced to call the police and couldn’t have dialed the number fast enough.
“Poplar Police, Sargent Nox here how may I help you?” Shelagh tried to speak clearly without crying. “Peter it’s Shelagh. Angela ran away from home!” Peter knew the Turners for years he was a close friend. “What do you mean ran away do you know where she went?” Shelagh shook her head. “No she just left a note saying that she was sorry she didn’t say where she was going. Patrick and Timmy are out now trying to find her.” “Shelagh calm down I’ll be over shortly.” Peter said hanging up the phone. Shelagh waited for what felt like hours she paced back and fourth in the living room, she had every horrible thought racing through her head. Luckily a knock at the door distracted her from anymore thoughts. She answered the door to see Sargent Nox behind it. “Hello Peter please come in.” Shelagh said letting him inside and closing the door. “I got here at fast as I could. Now what would make Angela want to run away?” Peter asked as he sat down on the couch and pulled out a pad and a pen. Shelagh sat next to him. “Well, she was quite cross with Patrick and I last night. We caught her sneaking back into the house through her bedroom window.” “So she sneaks out of the house?” Peter asked. “Yes, she sneaks out to meet a boy that she knows we will never approve of.” Shelagh said. “Whose this boy?” Peter asked getting ready to write. “His name is Jason Miller. He’s 17 he moved here from America. He isn’t a good kid, back in New York he got a 16 year old girl pregnant after he ran away with her and just left her alone while he went back home.” Shelagh felt the tears starting to fall again. “Do you know where he lives?” Peter knew these questions where tough to answer right now; he needed as much information as he can get. “He lives with his parents a few blocks over in a town house; his parents are never home they are doctors at the London.” Shelagh shook her head. “I’m sorry Shelagh we will find and bring her home I promise and I’ll make sure this Jason kid takes full responsibly for this.” Peter said trying to confront his friend. Patrick and Timothy came home out of breath from running all over town. “Hello Peter.” Patrick said. Timothy smiled and nodded. “Hello Patrick. Tim. Shelagh gave me as much information as she could, do you two know anything that might help?” Peter asked as the guys walked over to the two lounge chairs that faced the couch. “I know she was crazy about Jason Miller and how they would talk on the phone for hours about wanting to run away together at some point..I never thought anything of it I thought it was all talk.” Timmy said in a nervous tone. “You’re not in trouble Tim. No one knew she was the type of girl to even consider running away.” Peter said. “I feel like it’s my fault.” Patrick said looking down. “I was always pushing her to follow in mine and Shelagh’s foot steps, I never asked her once how she wanted to deal with her life. I should have kept a better eye on her, I should have loved her more.” “Patrick this isn’t your fault,You love her more then anything. I don’t wanna hear you blame yourself for this!” Shelagh yelled as tears fell from her eyes. Tim got up and hugged his mother tighter then ever. “I’ll take this information to the station and start paroling around. Do you know any place where she might have gone?” Peter asked as he stood up. “She loved hanging out by the docks, that’s were she would write most of her music.” Timothy answered. Peter nodded. “Thank you Peter.” Patrick said as he stood up to let Peter out. “You’re welcome. I’ll make sure to keep you posted if anything comes up, We’ll find her.” Peter said as he left. Patrick kept beating himself up for Angela leaving. He to keeps playing back the fight in his head thinking about what he could’ve said or done that maybe wouldn’t have caused this from happening but sadly everything he thought about just let him right back to her leaving. Shelagh felt broken she didn’t know how to comfort her husband as well as herself. Timothy trying to be the rock for his parents was hurting as well he missed his little sister and wished she would’ve spoken to him about any troubles she was facing. As he hugged his parents telling them she’s gonna come home he could feel them holding him tight as if they thought he was gonna be the next one to take off even though that wasn’t the case.
Meanwhile in the far part of Populr, Jason and Angela were making there way to bus station carrying there nap sacks filled with clothes and Angela’s guitar case in hand. “So where are we going?” She asked holding onto Jason’s hand as they walked. “Well, how does Paris sound to you?” Jason asked smiling. “The city of love, really?” Angela said all excited. “We can go anywhere you wish to be.” Jason kissed the top of her head. “Paris sounds delightful, how are we going to pay for this adventure?” She asked. “I managed to grab some money from my parents safe we have enough to last us for a while.” Jason answered. The Young couple seemed to think they had a well thought of plan and that they will never get caught. Little do they know Sargent Nox sent out a search party on them. Angela knew she had made a mistake but to her is was the right mistake. She wasn’t going to let herself regret it and turn back this is what she needed to do. “The bus stop is just a few blocks over.” Jason said pointing ahead. “I can’t wait to finally start playing my songs” Angela said smiling bright just at the idea of maybe one day playing her music in front a huge crowd on a stage. “Once we get to Paris and you start playing I guarantee someone important is gonna hear you and want you.” Jason said optimistically. Of course Angela believed him even though it sounded a little far fetched. They made it to the bus stop where the bus was waiting to take them away from London and straight to Paris; The couple climbed aboard, took their seats and got ready for the long ride.
After the long ride, the couple finally arrived in Paris. Angela couldn’t wait to jump off the bus and explore the city of love. “Come on Jason!” Jason laughed as she saw Angela run off the bus. “Hold on let me get our bags!” Jason smiled as he struggled to grab both their bags off the bus. Paris seemed unreal, the sun shined showing all the colors of the flowers and trees. The city was clean, the buildings were made mainly of brick painted white almost like Poplar expect these were nicer. The Eiffel tower could be seen for miles standing tall and proud. “Okay the hotel is just up the road.” Jason said as he swung the bags over his shoulders. Angela followed Jason to this beautiful hotel, it was a few stories high. The outside brick was painted an off white that had a hit of brown in it, the windows had a gold trim around them; each room had a small balcony with a black iron rod railing. Angela had never seen such a building she stood there in awe. “Are we really staying here?” Jason looked back at his girlfriend. “Only the best for you.” They walked up the gold trimmed doors, the door man opened them sending the couple into the main lobby that looked just as beautiful as the outside. An older man in what looked like a designer suit walked up to Jason. “Bonjor mister Jason. Usual room?” He said in his french accent. Jason nodded. “Yes Leo, the parents won’t be joining me this time it’s just me and the young lady.” Leo nodded back and handed Jason a key to the master suite and walked away, no questions asked. “I’m guessing you’ve been here before?” Angela said knowing the answer. “My parents stay here when doing business in Paris. Leo is the owner and very good friends with my father.” Jason said. “Is he gonna rat us out?” Angela asked worried. “Don’t worry about I slipped him a 100 he’s not gonna say a word. Far too greedy to tell my parents. Now quit worrying and enjoy your time here. Our suite is the last floor.” Jason said as he got into the elevator; Angela followed. “If you say so.” “I do say so.” Jason said giving Angela a soft kiss on her cheek. The elevator took them all the way to the top of the hotel and opened right up into the master suite. “Here you go my lady our very own private room.” Jason said as he watch for her reaction. Angela found herself in awe once again as she stepped out of the elevator. The room looked like something out of a fairy tale. It was massive, the floors where a white marble that turned into a white carpet in the bedroom and sitting area. French doors hid the queen sized bed dressed with the fluffiest blanket and pillows ever. The sitting area had a small sliver coffee table with a large sofa one side and a love seat on the other. Every inch on this room had a bit of gold in it along with red roses in crystal vases on every usable surface. Angela opened the door leading to the their own balcony looking out into the city, “This place is beyond perfect!” Jason just leaned up against the door way smiling at Angela. “I’m happy you like it. Now how about you get writing some more songs and I’ll order us some dinner?” Jason suggested. “Sounds wonderful.” Angela said as she went back into the room closing the door. She grabbed her guitar case, taking it to the couch, opening it up to take out the guitar and her notebook that was filled with all her songs. As she flipped through her book she came across the photo of her with her parents that she used as a bookmark. They looked so happy. Angela just shook her head and tossed it back in the case. Closed it before she began strumming her guitar letting the sound fill the room.

Runaway Dreamer By SVUNerd99
It was past midnight, the Turner family had gone to sleep after a very long day at the clinic.
16 year old Angela was up in her bedroom listening to the latest Fleetwood Mac record and studying for a big test she had on Monday. Unlike her older brother Tim; she always waited till the last second to study. Angela is the adopted daughter to Patrick and Shelagh;she knows shes was adopted and doesn’t mind, she loves her parents more then anything. The only thing that rubs her the wrong way is how badly they both want her to be just like her brother smart, get into great schools, have a plan set for the future. While Angela just wants to see where life takes her; shes in love with music and hopes to take that on as a career. She plays the acoustic guitar like it was made just for her, Shelagh taught her how to sing and write music. She can only imagine telling her parents that she doesn’t wanna go to collage instead she wants to join a band and travel the world. It would be world war 3 in the Turner house. Angela rolled her eyes at the math textbook that has consumed her for the past hour she shut the book and tossed it the side before grabbing a large history book, flipping it open and began letting it take over her mind. Angela let her mind go into a space quickly and looked around her room which had posters of Elvis, the Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and others covering her walls. Her beat up old acoustic guitar sat in the far corner of her room. On her bed was the mountain of textbooks that she wished she could just toss out the window, her sky blue record player was keeping her sane as she continued to listen imagining herself playing for a large crowd. Angela finally had enough of studying and was about to call it a night before she heard tapping at her window. Knowing what that noise meant she walked over to her window raising it up only to see a tall ,handsome, light skinned, black haired, blue eyed boy standing in the yard smiling up at her. He wore tan trousers,a black callored shirt and black dress shoes. “My parents better not see you” Angela said whispering down. “Oh what’s the worse that can happen?” The boy said smiling. “I wouldn’t worry too much about mother she’s pretty out going but father on the other hand will chase you away..with a bat.” Angela laughed quietly
“Wouldn’t be the first time. Are you gonna come down?” The boy asked. “Okay Jason, I’m coming you American boys are too funny.” Angela said as she went back into her room grabbing her white knitted sweater which she slipped on over her pink sleeveless sundress; She also grabbed her white tennis shoes. She tied her long blonde curly hair up in a pony tail before climbing out her bedroom window and onto the roof and down the flower trestle before landing feet first on the ground. “Hello” She said giving Jason a hug. “Hello” Jason said with a smile. The two teens sneak out together about twice a week. Their parents don’t know they are dating they. Patrick and Shelagh don’t approve of Angela dating so young; They both see so many young girls giving birth at 16 and not knowing what to do they don’t wanna see that for their daughter just yet. Angela obliviously doesn’t listen to the rules. “So what are we gonna do tonight?” Angela asked as the young couple walked away hand in hand. “Well I thought we would take a walk around and enjoy each others company.” Jason answered. “Sounds swell.” Angela never thought she would meet Jason they live such different lives. His parents are doctors, moved to Poplar from New York City to help out in a hospital in the city of London and are gone for a few days at time while Jason takes care of himself until they come home at the end of the week. Angela is watched like a hawk and told how to live her life. The only way she manages to sneak out is she plans it out; she knows when her parents go to bed and what time they wake up. She makes sure shes back in bed by the time they wake up and check in on her. On Sundays Shelagh wakes up at 5 am to go to church with the nuns at Nonnatus House she always wakes Angela up to go with her. Luckily on a normal day no one wakes up till 8 am. The night was warm being spring in all. The sky was clear you could see every star in the galaxy. It was quite walking through Poplar they could hear their own footsteps hitting the cobbled stone road. Angela loved roaming Poplar at night it seemed different at night almost abandoned looking no one was around, the only lights on were the street lamps and the moon of course. “This night is perfect!” Angela said smiling at Jason. “I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself. So write any songs lately?” He asked. Angela nodded. “A few, too bad I can’t play them.” “I can’t believe your parents won’t approve of your songs.” Jason shook his head. “It’s not that they won’t approve of my songs they won’t approve of me wanting to leave Poplar, join a band and travel the world.” Angela smiled. “Well, they should approve. Don’t they know that you aren’t Tim. He’s studying to follow in your father’s footsteps and become a doctor. What do they expect you do to become a nun and midwife like your mother.” Angela looked at Jason. “Mother isn’t a nun anymore Jason if she was I would’ve never been adopted.” They both laughed. “Why don’t you just pack a bag and runaway?” Jason asked. “I happen like being alive.” Angela laughed again at just the thought. “I’m serious. We can just pack up and leave this place travel the world together. Make your dream come true.” Jason said stopping in his tracks. Angela stopped and looked at him like he was crazy. “Jason, we just can’t runaway we have our families and school.” “My parents are never around and yours don’t seem care about your dreams same with school.” Jason said. “This is crazy! Your parents love you and you know that mine love me, school is rubbish but we still have to go! My dream is just that a dream most likely I’m gonna be a midwife like my mother.” Angela said really letting out her British accent. “Being a midwife isn’t the life you want you’re going to be miserable. You belong on stage with you guitar in hand singing your heart out not delivering babies!” Jason said in his American accent. Angela knew he was right. She nodded. “You’re right. But we still shouldn’t just run away.” Jason’s smile turned into a frown. “One day I’ll take you out of here.” Angela smiled kissing his cheek as Jason checked his watch. “Damn! It’s almost 5 I have to get you home!” Jason said freaked out by the time. “Calm down it’s not Sunday.” Angela said going in for a kiss. Jason backed up. “What are you talking about you must have lost track of the day because it’s Sunday!” Angela thought about it and realized it truly was Sunday. “Oh my god it is!” The couple ran back to Angela’s house as fast as they could they needed to get there before Shelagh found out she was gone. As soon as they got back Angela kissed Jason fast before climbing back up the flower trestle,on the roof and into her bedroom window. “Yes, I made it!” Angela said proud of herself as she shut her window. “Angela Julienne where have you been!?” Angela felt herself sink as she turned around to her mother Shelagh standing in her room already dressed in her nursing uniform. “Mother you’re up early.” Angela said with a bit of fear in her voice. “It’s 5 o clock I was gonna wake you up for church! Now answer me where were you!?” Shelagh yelled. Before she could even come up with a believable lie the truth came out instead. “I was out..with Jason.” Once Shelagh heard she was out with a boy she called for her husband. “Patrick!” Shelagh called. Patrick ran into the room wearing his work suit. “What’s going on in here?” “Angela tell your father!” Shelagh yelled again. Angela looked down. “I snuck out of the house to see Jason.” Patrick’s face went from confusion to upset real quick. “You did what?!” “She climbed out her window to go see that Jason kid. I caught her climbing back inside.” Shelagh said. “I don’t believe this what would make you think that was a smart idea! You are 16 years old you can’t be running around Poplar at night with some boy! Do you have any idea what could’ve happened to you out there?” Patrick yelled. “Jason wouldn’t let anything happen to me he loves me!” Angela yelled back. Patrick rolled his eyes. “Love? You are 16 years old you don’t know what love is and Jason sure doesn’t care about you!” “You’re lying! He loves me he wants to runaway with me!” Angela yelled back louder with tears rolling down turning her pale face. “Jason is no good! Do you know why his parents moved from New York to Poplar?” Patrick asked. Angela nodded. “They got the job at the London hospital.” Patrick shook his head. “Yes, but also they moved cus Jason ran away with some girl and got her pregnant and left her somewhere in New Jersey her parents found her luckily alive!” Angela shook her head. “That’s not true!” Shelagh nodded. “It is true! Don’t you understand we know what’s best for you!” Angela looked at her mother. “You know what’s best for me? So throwing my life away and becoming a midwife and nun is the life you want for me?!” “I did not throw my life away!” Shelagh said still yelling “Oh come on mother! You did throw your life away you told me your mother forced you!” “I chose to become a nun and midwife that was the life I wanted and I don’t regret it!” Shelagh stated. “If that life was so amazing then why did you leave!?” Angela asked. “I met your father that’s what happened!” “So you changed your life for love?” Angela didn’t know the full story. “Yes! Once I met your father I couldn’t bare to live without him in my life and that’s when I knew the order wasn’t for me anymore! I wanted a family!” “That’s how I feel about Jason!” Angela was wearing her parents thin. “My decisions were different. Jason is just gonna do to you what he did to that other girl!” Shelagh said. “What get me pregnant, unlike you? Isn’t that why you adopted me because you can’t ever give birth?!” Angela hasn’t realized the line she crossed. Shelagh was diagnosed with TB back when she was in order. She was able to get treatment which cured her but she found out later she’s unable to give birth. Shelagh couldn’t believe what her daughter just said to her, she left the room in tears. “Why in gods name would speak to your mother like that!? Adopting you was the one thing that made her life complete and this is how you repay her!? Stay in your room and don’t come out until you learn from your mistakes!” Patrick said as he left the room slamming the door shut behind him, leaving Angela standing her room with tears falling faster then ever before.
