I scarcely know how to describe that room. It became, in a way, every room I had ever been in and every room I find myself in hereafter will remind me of Giovanni’s room.
James Baldwin's writing is exceptional, so genius in capturing the depths of human emotion. It's inconceivable how someone is able to create a story packed with such intensity, grief, and anguish that transcends time and place. Giovanni's Room unveils the truths we unknowingly bury within ourselves in the process of disassembling ourselves in this rapacious world. How my heart aches with suffocating discomfort for every character found in the corners of James Baldwin's world.
happy february
