the way my post is about how any critical analysis of a female artist is taken as either an attack on her morals or her agency and you've responded to it by claiming i'm attacking her morals and her agency. i'm sure she is making her own choices. i'm not “bashing” her i did actually call her an objectively talented songwriter and performer. what i said in my original post is that her actions do not follow the feminist principles i agree with, and that this does not make her or her fans bad people, but i find it frustrating when people try to twist ideology to accommodate her because it's uncomfortable for them otherwise.
all i've said and all you've continuously insulted me for is that she doesn't adhere to radical feminist principles and that i'm confused by the radical feminist-leaning women who try to pretend she does. you do not appear to be a radical feminist, so i'm not sure why you're taking this sentiment personally. i imagine you just have problems with radical feminism as an ideology, but it's really odd to bring that onto posts where i'm criticising ostensible radical feminists just because you've skimmed my words and decided i'm insulting sabrina carpenter.
like in 2005 no self-proclaimed feminist would look at a female pop star performing in lingerie and miming blowjobs and defend her lol. think we've lost the ability to admit we can like things that we don't agree with -- especially if someone's an objectively talented performer and songwriter -- so we're left with the choice between a) dropping anything that's not ideologically pure or b) shifting the goalposts so it is ideologically pure. which is not a new phenomenon it's how choice feminism started but i feel like sabrina specifically is bringing it out in otherwise pretty radical women which is deranged lol

why are you going through her tag and reblogging every vaguely critical post about her with rude comments? her actions objectively do not fit any feminist ideology that i subscribe to and i find it frustrating when people claim otherwise. is that okay with you? if not, could you take it up with her?
i kind of don't get why whenever sabrina carpenter discourse comes up on here all the self-proclaimed feminists are like 'well xyz female artists also wear bodysuits/do sexual poses'... what on earth does that prove. are they all fine or are they all oversexualised? if they're all fine are there comparable male performances? lol, i can answer that for you, so why aren't there? why are you comparing her to other women in the same industry under the same expectations and acting like it doesn't just highlight an industry problem? why are we back at choice feminism? why are we afraid to be mean?

also i recently realised that for all that booktok women probably are frying their brains with porn (that's their prerogative), they're a demographic of largely 25-35+ married mothers and their kids are seeing them read. if we assume that these specific women wouldn't really be reading otherwise, there's a massive number of kids seeing their mothers read in their free time instead of sitting on their phones. modelling reading is the by leagues the best way to get your kids to read. i literally think this is huge. objectively a net positive, regardless.

i really don't think booktok is destroying the book industry. the people who read fantasy romance were not reading literary fiction five years ago – and almost certainly would not have been reading it in five years' time, but now that they're reading fiction at all they might! five years ago the ‘booktok tables’ in bookshops were self-help books. literary fiction and worthwhile nonfiction are not keeping bookshops afloat or publishers in business; they've always needed the pulp, the trends, something that sells in volume so they can afford to sell the first 200-copy run of the next booker prize winner. dare i say that nothing has materially changed?
