I am OVERJOYED about this episode. I really am.

I loved how Barbara supported Janine. I love how the whole time Barbara was talking to Vanetta, she was thinking about what JANINE needed, to the point where she was actually willing to spend her own money so that Janine wouldn’t be hurt or be set back. And I really, really loved that it turned out that Barbara was trying to protect Janine more than she needed to be protected. That Janine has gotten to the point where she can set a boundary, where she can look at the situation and say “this is my mother, and she is not a good mother, but I love her, so I’ll help her, because that’s what I feel is right for me, but I will not let her keep me from helping myself.”

And I am sure that being able to see that Barbara really, genuinely cares about her, and being in an environment with people who support her, helped with that too. From the very beginning of the episode with everyone being proud of Janine going on her trip, knowing what a big step it is for her to do that, it’s set that Janine is in an environment where she’s been able to grow and where she’s still growing and thriving. I’m happy for her!
