i think someone already talked about this, but a thing people still often get wrong about aushun is hungary being the only one in the relationship openly showing affection/being in love (while austria supposedly barely shows interest in her/being indifferent)!

like…. have u seen him?? this dork canonically

- is said to be extremely stingy and dislikes spending money, yet does not hesitate A SECOND to buy hungary that cute hat when she remarks that she finds them pretty

- puts a lot of effort into his valentine’s day gift for her!!

- is generally super lazy when it comes to doing anything for others (such as telling germany to get food and draw him a bath himself while living with him) but for his wifey???? he’ll bake cakes and serve and decorate them for her and even help with mundane tasks such as doing DISHES (i repeat…roderich doing DISHES)

- greatly dislikes any sort of dressing up (even santa hats for christmas) but still participates in every matching costume concept hungary comes up with because it makes her happy

- very protective of her even though he knows she’s ten times tougher than him but still WHAT IF SHE GETS HURT

- literally does not care if she decides to express herself in a more masculine or feminine manner and supports her either way (also something people often get wrong for some reason) 

- HATES getting pictures taken of him and is generally very self conscious about his appearance, but doesn’t mind showing her his embarassing photo from april fool’s day i’ve literally been headcanonning that it was a pic of them cuddling but that’s another story hjdksskfjf

- COUNTS SHEEP FOR HER UNTIL SHE SLEEPS BC SHE SEEMS EXHAUSTED

tl;dr: He’s (like some other germanic nations as well) just a character quite uncomfortable and restricted with expressing personal emotions and affection (esp in public), so in the context of how his character is written actions are worth a lot more than words! thank you for coming to my ted talk <3

At the beginning of the relationship he was kind nervous, intimidated even, by this

Kiku despite entering a relationship with you was still not be quite ready for a lot of unprecedented skinship

So he would pry you off of him after a few minutes and opt for holding your hand

Or he would look at you apologetically and stop all skinship entirely

As time goes on he slowly gets more and more used to it

Now he wouldn’t push you away or try to escape your grasp, but he still looks sort of awkward

Not like he doesn’t enjoy it awkward, but just not right?

He’s still too stiff, hover hands you unless instructed

overall still not quite used to showing his affection as well as receiving it

It would take a while before Kiku starts to enjoy the cuddles and skinship and really takes part in it

But when he’s finally broken in to the cuddles both in private and maybe even in public he ends up becoming like dependent on them

I don’t think he’d ever initiate them unless he was super down in the dumps

But he’d look at you expectantly until you latch onto him

It’s just a part of his day now and he feels like something isn’t right unless you’ve cuddled him at least once that day

Kiku would definitely get moody if you teased him or genuinely didn’t notice that he wanted to cuddle with you

Since he’s not going to initiate it he’s just going to look at you and act all tsundere until you figure it out/stop laughing at him

When you finally do cuddle him he looks so happy and relaxed

Like he looks a century younger and the tension in his body releases

And if you were to cuddle under the kotatsu?

Y’all are sleeping there that night 100%

He’s not moving, he’s not letting you move, and eventually you both are passing out

His friends and family are so confused and shocked

Like they watch him openly accept your hugs and maybe kisses without hesitation or annoyance

And Kiku smiles when it happens and hugs you back?!?

They don’t even recognize him anymore, he’s a whole different person now
