Swinub chocolate cake truffles, revisited! 🐽💢

I first made these little piggies for its Community Day in 2019, and while I paid more attention to details like adding the proper number of racing stripes and spiky bum this time, honestly I feel like they don't matter much, he's already perfectly chocolate-shaped! I did enjoy making tiny versions too this time though 🥹

Cinnamon Apple Crisp 🍏🍎

Ingredients:

For the Apple Filling:

6 cups sliced apples (about 6 medium apples, peeled and cored)

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar

2 tbsp all-purpose flour

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp nutmeg

1 tbsp lemon juice

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

For the Topping:

1 cup old-fashioned oats

3/4 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp salt

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Mix well until the apples are evenly coated.

Transfer the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.

In a separate bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon, and salt. Stir until the mixture forms a crumbly texture.

Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apple mixture.

Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the apples are tender.

Allow the apple crisp to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.

I played around with a few different scenes before I went with the fossil background. It's inspired by the mysterious fossil card, and the limestone beds of southern Ontario. (there are islands in the great lakes made entirely of fossils. Mostly crinoid rings tho, with the occasional small shell.)
