A while back I did some illustrations Forestry Commission Scotland’s new interpretation panels at Knapdale, home of the Scottish beaver trial.
Beavers are a lot of fun to draw, and designing a beaver scuba kit was an interesting challenge, especially for someone who can’t even go snorkelling without panicking!

Last week I talked to the BBC about women in the Scottish comic scene as part of a feature on the new Girl in Print exhibition happening at Dundee University.

I was very glad to hear that microbeads are finally to be banned in (most) cosmetics in the UK.
I admit several years ago I used to buy face soaps with microbeads in them, until someone pointed out to me what an ecological disaster they are. I don’t think it had even dawned on me that they were made of plastic. I’ve tripped up a couple of times since, quickly picking up products in the supermarket only to realise later that I’ve just smothered my face in the things. It doesn’t feel good chucking an entire bottle of soap straight in the bin but it seems like the best option. Hopefully very soon it won’t be possible to make this mistake!

New zine! Jesty Pesty: Eco Worrier will be on sale at Small Press Day in Kelvingrove Museum this Saturday. It’s a minicomic based on some of my anxieties around living sustainably, struggling to make the right choices and balancing them with social expectations. All that in just 4 x 4 panel pages!
Presented on recycled card but not printed on recycled paper.

I’ll be performing a comic at the TGC launch party this Wednesday 28 June.
It’s a joint launch between ‘That Girl Comic’, our anthology about growing up, and ‘Bi the Way’, the latest autobio comic by MJ Wallace. All welcome!

My shortlisted entry to Strathclyde University’s ‘Images of Research’ competition, because taking a photo like everyone else would be far too straightforward for me. Here’s the accompanying blurb:
What’s the best way for a chicken to cross the road?
An innovative product is a lot like a funny joke- surprising and satisfying. Companies must continuously innovate to remain competitive, so it’s crucial that design teams find ways to access creative ideas. Using techniques from improvised comedy can help teams work together to generate novel solutions to complex design problems.

Big news! We’re launching a brand new project: THAT GIRL COMIC. A stand-alone anthology in which we take on the theme of ‘growing up’. Featuring stunning cover art by Ren Wednesday.
Why? Well first of all we’ve done a bit of growing up ourselves. We’re now called 'TGC Collective’. We want to continue to bring you women’s stories through the medium of comics, but we want to do better than that.
We believe that paying our contributors is a step in the right direction. By pre-ordering your book on Kickstarter you’ll not only be helping cover our print costs, you’ll be helping support women artists in Scotland.

I’m thrilled to be part of the Cartoon Museum’s Inking Woman exhibition. So many women artists I admire are involved, and I’ve been visiting the Museum for years (fun fact: they were one of the first places to ever sell Team Girl Comic). AND Sandi Toksvig is opening the exhibition tonight!
It’s all so exciting but sadly I doubt I’ll be able to visit London in the next few weeks, especially as I’m planning to visit in August.
So if anyone is able to sneak a few photos of my work on display it would be much appreciated! I’ve submitted a few prints from my climate change comic ‘The Seagull Appreciation Society’.

Just spent a brilliant afternoon volunteering with RSPB Scotland, making green love hearts with kids as part of the #showthelove climate change campaign. Climate change is real, it's happening now and it's already having an effect on people, wildlife and landscapes in Scotland and around the world. The campaign is encouraging everyone to stand up and show some love for the things they care about that they don't want to lose to climate change.
Today one little girl wrote on her heart 'I can't imagine a world without animals'

My attempts to entice students to participate in my research. It was a success! Probably had more to do with the £40 mind.
