#LMAO #tbh if someone would rather engage with fanon and not touch the source material that's their prerogative I don't understand it but #you do you #but what this fandom phenomenon does tell you is how somewhere down the line #online culture has cultivated this habit where ppl would rather consume info secondhand #and then come up with their own strong opinions or in fandom's case fanon #because they want the quickest way for that dopamine boost #engaging with the source material is a lot more work to some ppl #than say reading fanfic that gets straight to fluff/smut or whatever way they wanna flanderized the characters #also this subsection of fandom is mostly invested in aesthetics over storytelling #see a lotta people get into media cuz the character design or the concept of the media is cool #and that's Fine but unfortunately some ppl for reasons I've stated above don't go beyond that
