A girl and her frog (WIP, sketched on Adobe Fresco). Drew this yesterday on LiveStream! . I’ve had this idea floating in my head for some time. I started earlier in 2021 just looking for references, thought of painting a girl with frogs, or a frog hat, or something else? I wasn’t quite sure what but as the idea has developed I realized I wanted to do a portrait of my daughter kaity, her personality, and to do it in a fun and whimsical way. . This is the second sketch of this version, done back to back (swipe to see the first one). Got some incredible feedback and critiques on it and I had to redraw it, I have so much more to learn! I’m eager to begin painting this but I know there’s more to tweak and adjust. I know I’ve matured as an artist just because of how much longer it’s taken me to complete something. I don’t rush through anymore and have a much easier time planning and evaluating what I do, and correcting what I can. Top 10 pieces of 2021! ✨ These are in no particular order as I looked through all the options Instagram gives for sorting and I picked the ones that consistently came out on top. A mix of likes, comments, impressions, etc. I feel like I’ve improved so much in the last 12-18 months and looking at these shows that. I feel incredibly lucky to have had the time and energy to be able to work on my art as much as I did this year, but I know I wouldn’t have gotten far without friends who’ve helped pave the way for me and who have provided invaluable critiques and guidance. I hate moving… I’ve been quiet for some time as we just moved. This has been one of the most hellish moves so far, and while I love my new place, the process has been -3/5 stars 💩 That said, I have an office now (hype) and will be working on setting it up as a digital/traditional art studio (hype x2), with a little bit of home mail-salon thrown in (#ultrahype) Streaming will officially start again next week but later today I’ll be doing a test to make sure everything functions correctly 👌🏼✔️ I haven’t worked on much art this month, only an entire wall 😜, but I’ll be posting updates soon. I know you’re probably tired to hear about COVID, about the cases rising, about the political craziness over masks, and schools opening. I’m sure you’re just ready for it to be over. Because of my job, I don’t have the need to go in, I get to work completely from home and enjoy this insanity from the comfort of my living room, but not everyone has a WFH job. What did you trade as a kid? Did you collect anything? Growing up in Chile, my friends and I collected marbles, and stationary sheets (the cute ones with drawings on them). Then as cartoons became hits we collected and traded sticker albums. These were so much fun, I loved getting money (either from chores or gifts) and running to the store to buy a few packs of stickers. My favorite was my Sailor Moon sticker album 🥰 Childhood Week - Summer 2021 🌞 Prompt 4 - Trade This piece… I was so upset, after devoting so much time to it, procreate crashed and erased the most detail intense layer (the one I had hand-drawn all the card designs on). I had to redraw them! This is after redoing the sketch, which if you joined me two weeks ago, I had originally done during my stream. I remember being grounded a lot as a kid 😅 I was pretty mischievous and if it wasn’t for what I did, it was for what I let my little siblings do (1st born problems, am I right?)⠀ ⠀ I’m officially late.
