“I just don’t like you.” He quipped back as she encroached on his personal space. Muscles tensed underneath the fabric of his shirt as she concurred that she developed no remorse for the things she had done. Damon hadn’t expected any differently but hearing the words spilling from her mouth fueled a new sense of rage within him. He kept his mouth shut, jaw clenched. He chose to hold his tongue at the risk of being called a hypocrite. He was aware of the havoc he so frequently caused, how often he himself put on the facade of difference when he had claimed so many lives and kicked people down who got in the way of his end goal.  Damon scoffed, icy hues fixating on her finger that trailed down his chest before she returned her hand to her side. “Katherine, there is no starting over for us. I don’t even want to be in the same zip code as you.”

    “You were never good at lying to me. It’s nice to see some things never change.”If she were forced to ally with them out of fear of Klaus she could at least have some fun while she was at it. This new Damon intrigued her, he was colder, meaner. He showed no emotion other than distaste for her and she always loved a challenge. Katherine took a small step forward, intent on pushing his buttons to see how far she could bend him before he snapped.  Her head tilted to the side and curled locks cascading over her shoulder as she traced his jawline with her fingertips. “It’s okay that you still love me, I won’t tell anyone.” Her voice was a hushed whisper, chocolate irises glancing down towards his mouth. She moved closer still, her hand now lazily draped over his shoulder. Her gaze shifted from his lips to his eyes, a small smile plastered on her lips as she looked up at him through thick lashes. “No one has to know...” she added softly before her lips were pressed against his.

     The slight acceleration of his heart caused her to pull her hand back away from the scar, her eyes still glazing over the once wounded flesh. She hummed softly in response to the answer he provided before she could question him. Blue eyes finally left the scar to look back up at him, her expression stern. “Your dad should have known better than to have a kid need to know the correct way to hold a knife,” she mused back, biting her bottom lip once the words had already left her mouth.  From the small tidbits he had given her and what she had managed to piece together on her own she had already come to the conclusion that she didn’t like his father. Not that she’d ever let him know that. Hearing about his father resurfaced memories of her own - and even though Bill Forbes had done questionable things as a dad he was still her dad. It wasn’t her place to belittle anyone’s parenting when her own were barely parents.  Caroline rolled onto her back, eyes trailing across the ceiling. “What even is a shapeshifter?” she finally asked, checking his reaction from the corner of her eye. “Like, I knew there were witches and werewolves and vampires but now you’re telling me there are...shapeshifters and whatever else.  How do you even keep all of that straight?”

      Caroline shied away from prodding fingers, her hand instinctively rose to cover the healing bite mark on her neck. “Nothing Gwen!” She insisted, blue eyes going wide. “It’s nothing, really. I’m…I’m fine.” Her voice rose slightly with urgency as she tried to convince the woman in front of her of her wellbeing. She dropped her hand from her neck before covering up the bite with her hair. “Damon just likes to get a little rough sometimes, it’s nothing.” As the words left her lips she shook her head, plastering a wide grin on her lips. “Don’t look at me like that! who texts/rings to check how their day is going? Damon will call or text. Katherine pretends she doesn’t care what he’s up to but she’ll subtlely pop in on him.

who’s the most creative when it comes to gifts? Damon. He always brings home something that caught Katherine’s eye. She’s always surprised.

who gets up first in the morning? Katherine.

who suggests new things in bed? Both of them! They’re both vampires and constantly horny so it happens.

who cries at movies? Katherine but she’ll pretend she isn’t.

who gives unprompted massages? When she knows Damon’s had a long day she will. Otherwise, she’ll insist he gives her one.

who fusses over the other when they’re sick? Neither of them really get sick.

who gets jealous easiest? Both! But Katherine hides it better unless she truely feels threatened.

who has the most embarrassing taste in music? Damon. Katherine teases him unmercifully for it.

“Of course there is,” Sam said smoothly, keeping her in his eyesight at all times as he began unpacking his things.  “But I’m not stupid enough to let you in on those fears or let them consume my life, unlike you.”  Quickly the hunter reached out and grabbed the item the vampire was toying with, shooting her a glare of disapproval before continuing.  

Green eyes rolled, before throwing his bag to the floor.  “And by coming to their senses you mean finally forcing a stake through your heart like they should have done over a decade ago?  Yeah I’m waiting for that too- look Katherine is there a reason you’re here other than to try to test every nerve I have?  What do you want?”

Katherine huffed as the item was removed from her hand, doe-like eyes shooting daggers up at him before she dropped her hand into her lap. “I’m sure you’re scared of a lot of things,” she persisted, ignoring his snide comment about her intelligence level. “More things than you’d probably admit to yourself.” It was an assumption, one that didn’t carry much weight but that didn’t stop her from believing her own words carried some form of truth.  His words were met with an eye roll of her own, amber orbs looking off to the corner of the room. “Is it working?” She crooned, angling her body towards him as she leaned forward on the mattress. A look of personal offense claimed her features, “why do you assume I want something? Because the Salvatores have ingrained it in your brain that I’m the bad guy? I thought you would have learned that there are always two sides to a story by now.”  Katherine shrugged, leaning back on her hands as she eyed the hunter.  “How unfortunate,” she drawled.
