Archie fell silent for a moment, he himself wasn’t exactly proud of how he ended up in this place… Would rather not think about it at all. Not expecting her to turn around, he stumbled back a bit into the door and chuckled.
❝ —— If it’s a touchy subject, I’ll be sure not
to bring it up again. My name is Archie.
I’m surprised you haven’t seen me,
though, I’ve been here give or take
twenty-six years.❞
He put his hands in his pockets and smiled at her. Dwelling on his negativity will just make him retreat back into himself, for the sake of conversation he promised himself to hold it back for another time.
Vivian managed a small giggle as the man stumbled back, it was nice to know she wasn’t the only nervous one around here. Her hands were clasped tightly together in front of her, if she had blood circulation her knuckles would have turned white. For a moment she wondered what happened that got him here.
❝ Maybe i’ll tell one day. ❞ she gave the man a genuine smile, but she wasn’t sure of her answer. ❝ Really? It’s been thirty-nine for me. Feels longer though. I’m just surprised too.❞ maybe he kept to himself like she did. She took a step a closer closing off some space between them, hoping she wouldn’t fumble over her words in an anxious fit. Although she was a bit frightened she still spoke. ❝ I’m Vivian.❞

Archie nodded and listened to the bickering of teenagers downstairs. It had been so long since he was that age, always angry and looking for something to hate just to find some new complaint.
❝ —— Don’t be too rough on yourself. We
were all young and stupid when we
found ourselves trapped in this house.❞
Vivian shook her head at the teens. So trivial. Vivian stood up and faced the man when he spoke again, meeting his piercing gaze. This was the first time she spoke to another ghost of her free will. He spoke as he’d been here for years, but she had never seen him. Keeping a safe distance, she continued.
❝ It’s hard not to be, if you knew how i got here... ❞
her voice trailed off. ❝ Who are you? I’ve never seen you before. ❞

it was a usual day for Vivian avoiding the humans and ghost, who roamed there as well. She liked to keep to herself and stay within the shadows. She crept along the floorboards hoping no one would spot her, but cringing when she heard an unfamiliar voice. shit. She paused and huffed. ‘ You’re not the only one. Who are you? I’ve never seen you.‘ she asked bluntly. Vivian was an observer, she knew everyone here, even if they hadn’t known her.
charlotte was bored. extremely bored. it wasn’t often the living within the house gave her entertainment that lasted long. she was an impeccably hard girl to please. ‘ i’m d e a d not fucking deaf. if you were attempting to sneak around me, you’re complete shit at it, ‘ she hissed, peering over her shoulder. ‘ now scram. i’ve got no patience for losers like you. ‘

Archie quietly rapped his fingers along the door frame, watching the girl stare down at some clueless humans that wandered into the house.
❝ —— They really are fascinating creatures.
So absent minded and innocent, too
young to realize they’ve signed their
contract with death.❞
Vivian narrowed her eyes at the teens as they began to argue about their relationship. The humans were always causing some sort of drama, at least they were entertaining.
Viv heard and unfamiliar voice behind her, it was definitely a male voice. Although she became anxious, her outside remained cool. With a soft voice she replied to the stranger from behind her, still glaring down at the teens.
❝They are. I forget sometimes i was once that foolish too,
so many years ago. They will find out in due time. They should have never stepped foot in this godforsaken house❞

Vivian was quietly watching a human affair below her from the banister,
staying within the shadows. The teens were squabbling about some event.
The living was always so interesting to watch. Although she would never interact with them. She’d rather sit and listen.
Viv was so focused on the conversation of the two downstairs,
she hadn’t noticed the stranger who had approached her little hiding spot.
