when you tell someone that their being “too sensitive” or that they’re “overreacting” you are telling them that their feelings are not valid. you are telling them it’s wrong to feel that way and that they should not feel the way they are feeling. if someone gets upset by something you have done or said, you shouldn’t invalidate their feelings. you shouldn’t tell them to stop overreacting. all that does is make them feel worse.
