remi held back his laughter, instead handing a bottle of apple juice to the boy. “i also have a present for you from sungwoo.” remi told the boy as he showed him the plushie. hyunsu seemed to light up with the plushie. it was hard to believe that he looked so sick last night. “tiny bear, give him some space.” remi said, noticing the akita was trying to jump on the boy’s lap and remi couldn’t be sure if it was for cuddles or to steal rice. akechi had tricked remi many times thinking the dog wanted to be on his lap but really he wanted remi’s food. he pulled the dog away from the bed and sat down, cuddling the dog, while akechi accepted it. “finish your rice and then you can have tiny bear cuddles.” remi said, noticing the boy had a sad look after he pulled akecki back.

Looking over to the door to find Remi, he would express his delight as he saw the food to excite the little boy. “Woooow. So much food, so much juice.” He said as he would move his fingers to help the boy sit up very slowly, though the other could hardly contain his excitement. “Be calm, and eat it slowly, ok?” He reminded the other when looking from him to Remi once again then scrunched his nose at the nickname. “Just fine, cutie pie.” He tried to shot back, but it only made him cringe even more due to the cutsie nickname. “So many juice, which one do you one?” He asked Hyunsu, who replied that he would like apple juice if there is any.

it didn’t take long for remi to get breakfast and check up on akechi, but he played tag with sungwoo anyway to give minjin time to hang out with hyunsu since he was worried about not being able to bond. after half an hour and remi pretty tired from running around almost the entire settlement, he and akechi went back to the clinic with sungwoo having chores to do. except sungwoo also gave remi a plushie to give to hyunsu since the boy had heard about the other. 

remi knocked on the door before entering. “hello hello, remi and tiny bear are back with food. oh! and i got you some juice. don’t know what kind you like, so i got all of them.” he said setting the bottles next to hyunsu to pick, then giving a dog treat to hyunsu so he could feed one to tiny bear. while he was distracted by akechi, remi jumped on minjin’s back. “hey, honeyboo. did you miss me?” he asked with a laugh. 

Minjin glanced to Remi with an slight glare then looking to Hyunsu while his nose would scrunch at the nickname. “Ahh.. Don’t listen to him, don’t listen to him.” He tried with waving his hand as he stood up to walk from the two. He would wash the rag then ring it once again before moving over to Remi and Hyunsu while sending the other an sharp glare. “He-yah…. He irritates me at times, Hyunnie.” He admitted with hearing the laughter from the other as an soft smile appear. “Alright, let’s get you cleaned up.” He mentioned with moving the rag to make sure on working his best to clean the other up. He planned to get soap later on to use on the other since all he had now was an wet rag to use for getting the dirt off of him. “It doesn’t hurt, right?” He checked while continuing after the other had shook their head. “Hyunnie…. Your hair is so dirty.” He decided to tease with an small laugh escaping his lips. “You will need a better bath soon. I’m sorry this is all I can give you for now. When you can move around a little bit, we’ll give you a warm bath.” He promised, sealing it after their pinkies curled around each other.

“hey, hyunnie. call him old minnie jinnie.” he said with a wink, causing the kid to laugh and repeat it to minjin. “while you two get to know each other and get cleaned up, i’ll grab breakfast for us and see how sungwoo is doing with tiny bear.” remi said to minjin and then looked back to hyunsu. “no matter what he says, remember to call him old minnie jinnie for me.” he held his own pinky out to hyunsu and smiled as they interlocked fingers. “alright, see ya. don’t miss me too much, honeyboo.” remi winked at minjin and ran out of the clinic quickly after that. 

Minjin would look to Remi with an soft smile, because how does this kid know all the answers in this world to make Minjin calm down? Remi was full of magic to say the least. “Hyunsu-ah… You heard the doctor give us the instructions? We’re going to keep you on the iv a little longer and he will come back to check up on you. When you feel a bit better and hungry again, we will feed you some rice if that’s ok.” He mentioned in an soft tone. “I’m Minjin, but you can call me Minnie or Jin if it’s easier.” He explained with an soft smile. “Hyunsu-ah.. You’re so brave for lasting this long all alone. I just wish you could’ve found some stuff to eat.” He admitted in an soft tone once again with pitiful eyes. “When you can eat better, I’ll make sure to go out when we need more food and find your favorite things to eat.” He held up his pinky then smiled softly to when their’s curled around his before sealing it with their thumb pads. “You’re quite stinky, Hyunsu-ah.” He decided to tease with an soft scrunch of his nose. “Is it okay if I take a wet rag to clean you up a bit? You’re really dirty.” He admitted with holding up their arm gently for them to see the dirt that stuck to their skin.

“you’re worrying too much.” remi bumped his hip against minjin’s. “he’ll love you. one winter isn’t going to destroy a bond as long as you make sure he knows you want to be around. my dads were always working, but they made sure i knew they’d be there for me when they had time and look how i turned out.” remi winked and then his attention went back to the kid. 

when the doctor was done with the checkup and left a list of instructions with remi, he walked over to hyunsu. “so can i bribe you into staying with minmin and me when you’re better with some sweet kitten and monkey bandaids?” remi joked, but a bright smile quickly appeared on his lips as the kid nodded.

Watching over the doctor while he would move to stand next to Remi, he would watch the two interact while an soft smile would appear due to the sight. “Hm?” He heard Remi’s whisper then lean down to move his ear closer to hear Remi better while watching the doctor and the little kid still. “You don’t have to ask me, I want to keep him too since I watched him over the night while you were sleeping.” He mentioned in an whisper. “I’m happy that you got some good sleep, but I’m scared that I won’t be around him much because it’s going to get colder and I have to get out there to bring more fire wood in for us.” He reminded Remi with finally looking to him. “What if we can’t bond properly due to that?” His nose scrunched a bit then looking to the little kid once more then giving an soft smile.

remi stayed with the kid, answering all his questions and learning some about him, as well attempting to get the boy to laugh or at least crack a smile. by the time minjin and the doctor were back, remi had done just that through the use of silly faces and voices. remi stepped back as the doctor started their checkup. holding his breath for a second when they looked over the iv and releasing it when they said it was the best choice in this situation. every time hyunsu looked over, remi did something silly and another crack of a smile would appear. “hey, minmin.” he whispered, nudging the other. “i wanna keep him. apparently his parents died awhile ago and he’s been on his own since so, we should keep him.”

Minjin released an soft breath while listening to Remi before noticing the kid was opening their eyes. He leaned up when Remi hopped up to sit upon the bed then moving to stand as he walked toward them. “Hey,” He spoke in an soft tone as he would swat to be at the little kids’ level while looking to him, though giving him some space. “Park Hyunsu?” He heard the kid say his name then gave an soft smile. “Hyunnie, you were out in the forest when I found you.” He mentioned the nickname in an soft tone. “You were so tired that I found you sleeping.” He chuckled an bit then pushed his cheek to one side as his kind eyes would watch over the little one. “I’m going to get the doctor.” He said with leaning up to stand then ruffling Remi’s hair gently as he left as quick as he could get back with an doctor in hand. “Here’s Doctor Ramosas.” He spoke when entering the post in an soft tone then stepping aside to close the door.

“it is. i can tell from over here.” remi reassured taking another look at the kid. “hm, when he wakes up, probably want to keep him on the iv, but you could feed him some rice to start with and work your way up to start. just be careful to not over feed him.” he warned softly, his eyes still on the kid when he saw their eyes opening up. remi hopped up and climbed over minjin, getting closer to the boy, remi softened his tone. “hey, morning sleepyhead. my name’s remi and that minjin over there.” he kept his tone quiet, not wanting to startle the kid. “can you tell me your name?”

Minjin looked down to find Remi waking up, returning the soft kiss while looking down to him. “I think it helps when I wiped his face off. He needs a bath.” He mentioned in an soft tone as he looked abck to the little boy once again. “Doesn’t he? I hope the iv is working, I checked on it throughout the night so that it wasn’t possibly dripping out.” He mentioned then rest his cheek upon Remi’s head. “How long will it take because he could possibly eat? I want to fix him whatever I can to help him fill up and not be so hungry..” He admitted.

“wake me up if he does.” remi replied, curling closer to minjin. with minjin comforting him, it didn’t take long for remi to fall asleep. he didn’t intend to sleep the whole night, but with minjin there it felt safe so remi could always sleep easier. the nights minjin wasn’t around, remi barely slept and just worked with the kids. he was useless with medicine when minjin was away for too long. 

remi woke up the next morning and looked over to the kid, seeing he was still out, remi then turned his attention to minjin. seeing he was still awake remi moved over and pressed his lips to minjin’s. “good morning. i guess i didn’t miss anything?” he questioned as he settled back next to minjin. “he looks better this morning, not so close to dying.” 

Hearing the door open shortly after Remi’s response, his hand was met with Remi’s cheek as he found out that it was just Sungwoo; laughing along with the other as he pressed an kiss to Remi’s forehead in return. He kept quiet while looking over to Sungwoo then ruffling the little kid’s hair some before scrunching his nose at their bright features. “Thank you, we’ll see tomorrow, ok? Don’t forget that he needs the bathroom too.” He reminded Sungwoo then smiled as he watched the other leave, making sure the door was locked since he knew they weren’t expecting any other visitors tonight. “Hm?” He looked over to Remi once he was tugged to the other patient bed in the clinic then crawling in beside him with an soft sigh leaving his lips. “Mhm.” He wasn’t really tired to begin with since he was still worried for the kid on the other bed across from them. “What should I do if he wakes up?” He mentionedi n an soft tone, his fingers moving to massage Remi’s back with his fingertips while holding him close when they’re laying down. He nodded his head to Remi’s instructions and continued to comfort Remi until he fell asleep, smiling softl while he would listen to Remi’s breathing then focusing on the little boy for the time being.
