The True Impact of Media
From tiny bits to bigger pieces. From news flashes to profound news articles. From humorous satires to serious issue talks.
We live in a society where information is just right around the corner; we just need a mode or a tool to grasp it – media. Media come in many means, whether it be the use of our common senses such as our sight and hearing or the use of more complex tools such as newspapers, televisions and the internet.
It has been with humanity since the time that our species have roamed this very Earth. Without it, humans would not have any means to communicate and interact with each other.  And without communication, it is impossible to create social systems and to work together and establish a functioning community.
Undoubtedly, the power that media holds is massive. They are storehouses of information that can be used in the different aspects of life. From the moment that we wake up to our classes in school, and when walking through the streets until the time that we sleep, we consume information through the various forms of media that is present in our environment.
Media has also helped to advance our civilization. It has helped in our progression through aiding and amplifying our connectivity for us to create things faster, easier, and more efficient. It has helped us in causing change and reform – as seen in the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) Revolution. The EDSA Revolution used various forms of media, such as radios and newspapers, to bring people together and end the tyranny and dynasty of the greedy Marcoses.
With these being said, it can be implied that media is truly influential. It can change the perspective of someone that comes in contact with it, inducing action based on the information that they perceive through it. However, due to its influence, it can also be abused by perpetrators of crimes and be used to exploit misinformation and misguide the people.
The prevalence of fake news is one concrete proof on how media is being used to fuel evil deeds. creators of fake news publish falsified articles and disguise them as a legitimate information in order to deceive people and affect their decisions. Specifically, this fake news is being used in politics by political figures to gain an upper hand during elections by creating black propaganda against their rivals, more so to create false achievements in order to get the sympathy of the voters.
Because of this, as consumers of information, we must practice responsibility while using these various media forms. We must always observe due diligence in checking if the information that we have collected is the truth or not. Moreover, we must always be mindful of the acts that we do while using them because even the smallest deeds can have larger consequences.
Responsibility must always be our priority. In this way, we can assure that we are treading the right path of progress – not the other way around.

How Technology Changed Us
All your worries, gone with a click.
It’s a great thing—with today’s innovations and technology fast rising, everything and anything can easily be done in a click, one tap sending millions of bytes throughout the cybersphere. Looking back into the years of the past, our technology felt like it already reached its peak, but little did we know, there was more to come.
114ps turned into 4Ks and 1080p HDs, walkmans, mp3 players, gameboys, merged into smartphones as one. If you were someone from 10 years ago, it would be a huge shock if you suddenly decide to travel to our present now.
It might not be flying cars and mind controlling devices yet, but technology ever since has improved drastically, not just in the field of entertainment and lifestyle, but also technlology in the field of medicine, business, and economical purposes.
Since technology has changed and improved a lot through the years, how has technology changed us?
Ever since technology was created, us humans have been utilizing it for our benefit: from medicine to industrial and for our entertainment, technology has given us a huge amount of help and caused great improvement for our daily lives, making daily tasks and doing heavyweight work a lot easier.
Everything has a fair share of their pros and cons; just like everything else. Technology has its downfalls and advantages, too! Our technological advancements throughout the years have both been beneficial and other deleterious. Our technological advancements have resulted to the huge internet we have today, advanced machinery and even robots that can make decisions on their own.
However, our modern technological innovations have also caused harm onto the society. Threats have become more horrifying as of now, the digital age, where almost everything in the world can be accessible when you have the sufficient knowledge and resources. There are many crimes that can be committed through the use of the internet, and various malwares and viruses, identity thieves, fraudulent people and phishers are scattered all around the internet.
Fake news, hoaxes and scams can also be found throughout the entire internet. Due to advanced technological tools, it is now also possible to commit real life crimes easier by using technology, advanced and automatic lock picks, signal blocking devices, and advanced bombs or explosives can make robberies, homcide and murder, even felony, a lot easier for criminals.
Even though there are these disadvantages, we should still take note and consider that the advantages of our modern technological tools outweigh the disadvantages. There always will be disadvantages, a negative side to everything and what matters is we know how to properly utilise our technological tools and not use them as a catalyst for our wrongdoings in order for us and our world to progress.
With today’s technological advancements, it would be a shame to put a stop to all of this all of a sudden. Change is indeed inevitable, and not every moment of change has to be taken negatively. Our modern technological tools are helping us slowly unlock and identify further the mysteries of the universe and the secrets of the world, so why should we stop it? With the technology fast rising nowadays, it’s just going to make all of our lives even better. With these modern innovations, we will have a better future.
With the power we hold in our hands through the use of our modern technological tools, are you sure you want to stop now?
