We recently had the opportunity to canyoneer with @erikweihenmayer and his amazing family and friends. Many of you may have heard about Erik as he was the first blind person to reach the summit of Mount Everest as well as the World’s Seven Summits. We are certainly honored that Erik chose to join Get In The Wild for his first canyoneering adventure. He expressed a keen interest in visiting off-the-beaten-path locations where you can still experience the silence and solitude of the wild. We are certainly humbled and inspired by this incredible man. As the co-founder of the non-profit, @nobarriersusa, he helps facilitate a No Barriers mindset—to face challenges head on, problem solve, build winning teams and serve others. We love his motto—“what’s within you is stronger that what’s in your way”. (at Dirty Devil/robber's Roost Wilderness)

Just dropped in to the Goblin's Lair with my good friend Keith out for a visit from Tennessee. This awe-inspiring 90 ft. free rappel was the first rappelling experience of his life. Way to go Keith! (at Goblin Valley State Park)

"You can't see anything from a car; you've got to get out of the goddamn contraption and walk, better yet crawl, on hands and knees, over the sandstone and through the thornbrush and cactus. When traces of blood begin to mark your trail, you'll see something, maybe. --Edward Abbey (at Robbers Roost)

Join us on Halloween for one of two Special Canyoneering Adventures! We're offering a moonlight rappel into one of our all-time favorite slot canyons--the Chamber of Secrets. We'll take to the canyon as the sun begins to set and the bats come out to greet us. The adventure includes four awe-inspiring rappels, exciting slots and even a semi-keeper pothole. For the youngsters at heart we're also doing a special Goblin-themed adventure at the Goblin's Lair/Chamber of the Basilisk. Dress up in your favorite costume and follow the Goblin tracks to this deep and mysterious labyrinth. Spooktacular snacks and treats are part of this grand canyoneering adventure! Registration link in Bio. (Space is limited). (at Dirty Devil/robber's Roost Wilderness)

Students spend significant time mastering a variety of complex crevasse rescue exercises before venturing into an actual glacier. Here students apply the skills they have learned on an actual glacier. This section of Mount Baker's Squak Glacier is 200 ft deep and large enough to swallow a large semi truck. Subsequent photos show a student being lowered into the crevasse and the final capture of a proud student at the crevasse lip after prussiking his way to the top. (at Mount Baker Wilderness)

Climbing a glaciated mountain requires more than simply tying everyone to a rope and hiking up the mountain. Here, students practice "roped travel skills". They learn how to climb together as a team, keep proper tension in the rope and learn how to make direction changes without getting tangled up in the rope. Sounds pretty easy right? 😉 (at Mount Baker Wilderness)

Considering getting out in the canyons this fall? Two recent rescue's at Zero G Canyon demonstrate one great reason why taking a Technical Canyoneering Class is important. Our next class at the Dirty Devil/Robber's Roost Wilderness area is scheduled for October 13-15, 2017. Check out the link in our profile for more information. (at San Rafael Swell)

It's been an amazing time at the 2017 #orshow in Salt Lake City. We're excited to partner with @msr_gear in the launch of an all new desert/#canyoneering tent. We've been working with the MSR design team for the past few years in an effort to manufacture a bomber tent that can withstand the harsh environment of the southern Utah landscape. This tent will definitely be a game changer. Look for it in early 2018 as the Guideline Pro 2. (at Outdoor Retailer)
