hey guyys, how have you been? it’s been a while so i thought i’d give a little update. i wasn’t able to take my exam because i caught covid ✌️🤪✌️that means i’ll have to retake calculus next semester to get my degree… i’m upset in the sense that i wanted to be done with it, but i don’t think i was going to pass anyway.

now that i stopped, though, i’m feeling all the accumulated weariness and exhaustion of the year, so i’ve been sleeping a lot and reading and trying to find some joy in life. it’s good to have time for my hobbies again and to just exist for a bit without all the pressure and expectations, but i’m struggling with being kind and patient and have been getting annoyed pretty easily, which i don’t like. i also feel guilty a lot. just in general. i’m struggling to meet people half way. i guess the expectations didn’t just disappear, but this time i’m increasingly unwilling to play the part and i’m worried i’ll get in trouble for it.

anyways, some stuff i’ve been doing:

-> packed my bags + went to the countryside

-> spent time with my family

-> pharmacy run 🏃🏃

-> finished reading The Stone Sky, by N. K. Jemisin (solid conclusion to the trilogy yay)

-> started reading The Story of a New Name, by Elena Ferrante (idk why, but this story is just so moving to me. i feel it all, from start to finish)

-> have been watching The Summer Hikaru Died (in a few weeks, my queue will give away my obsession and i will not longer be able to pretend to be normal about it haha)

-> have been playing Love and Deep Space (it’s more fun than i expected 🫣🫣)

Spent the day with my friends today :) We went to the botanical garden and we walked so much that even though we didn't get to see the whole thing, I was so tired when we left. There was this lovely little field with the softest grass ever and I was really glad I decided to put on black shorts this morning so I could get down and enjoy it haha. Then we went to this vegan ramen place (I'd never been there before!) where I got these spinach dim sums (is there even a plural form?) and they were absolutely amazing. The yellow dim sum is from my friend who got pumpkin ones - we swapped a dim sum each so we could try what the other one got :))) Hers were just as good.

Bad news yesterday? What bad news :3 I'm full of coffee, dumplings, and happiness 🌟

Worked in the morning, went swimming just now, and later I'll make some spring rolls.

july 18, 2025 // trying not to go crazy while finishing up my master's and planning a move halfway across the world (and a million other things)

🍅 I started growing tomatoes in May even though I'll have to leave the plants behind in a month but they're keeping me grounded. Had the first tomato this night after coming home from the library.

💛 A sticky note I found in the library made me smile.

🌈 While this town does annoy me to no end from time to time, it's important to still notice the small and pretty things here while I still can.

💐 Between both my birthday and my cat dying this month, I got a lot of flowers and I feel so loved and taken care of.

spent a good chunk of the day at the lake yesterday and it was wonderful! we pretended to be mermaids and tried handstands and forward rolls and who can swim farther underwater and i think i swallowed too much lake water while laughing shghs

L slayed the picnic game with fresh fruit and summer rolls!

also I'm getting more confident about being topless and showing off my scars with every swim :)

today I did...

a 4 hour trial volunteer shift at the library of a queer museum so I can do those regularly alongside the café work

sent emails

ordered cat food

tiny grocery run for breakfast foods

i asked one of my professors for advice on my grad school list and it turned into one of the loveliest mentoring conversations i've had. not only did she have good suggestions on programs that might interest me, but i also left feeling better about the whole process than i have in months.

22.07.25 📚 ☕ ☀️ i forced myself to do nothing the first week after the semester ended but now it's time to lock in, sadly. i got three term papers ahead of me and very little motivation.
