Davinci came out with “snake” plastic wires in their new EN-C. It keeps the wing shape and has a fast recovery. This is a big deal if it works; a semi-rigid PG.

Mussel Rock 1hr. Visiting my daughter in SF, so I brought my wing. It was a post frontal sort of, I could see rain wash, or maybe that’s high tide water.
I started alone, then stoked to see Jesse fly overhead.

For Oahu, WindAlert has local stations at Kahana and Makapu’u. It’s a free “pro” trial for 7 days. The Blend model forecast worked well. I like this view because it gives both real time wind, trend and forecast.

I’ve used the Advance Lightbag on several trips. It’s an ultralight backpack.

Makapu’u day 4. Launched Crazies, hugged the right to get established.
Great conditions. Only a 16m wing was up with me.
The other pilot landed near the upper parking lot.
It was a good week in Oahu. The flying community here is very friendly; there are some very good pilots. The day we flew Kahana (SE flow) there was a state record flight.

Kahana is so pretty. There is a new cafe near Crouching Lion trail that is an awesome place to wait for good conditions.

Kahana 1hr. Wind was a bit strong when we arrived so practiced high wind kiting.
We hiked up; Dana and Elle joined
Beautiful day with Ziv and Arnel ... so fun to fly with friends.
We took eFoil lessons in the morning. I may try kite foiling next year.

We started with kiting today … epic park
Another unorganized launch for me (wind was crossing some), this time from Juice.
My friend Arnel did great.

Makapu’u,. I flew with Olivier. Landed when a rain cell, with a rainbow underneath, started threatening. When landing we could feel the rotor from Rabbit Island.

2hrs Sand City - flew the 5 miles to Marina and back. I top landed a dune in the middle.
Played a while at Sand City. The Flow Mullet (a para kite) looks fun, a large range of speed.

30min Sand City. Went at 5pm, wind was 45 degrees cross but me and another pilot on a Peak4 managed to stay up. One weird thing was he didn’t follow ridge rules but let the slow upwind leg take the ridge. I adapted; I’m glad he was a good pilot because I could read him.

Lake Court 3hrs. Flying with Ziv, we stayed under the fog which wasn’t difficult in smooth light wind.
In stronger wind I’ll launch with my glider in a rosette with sand holding down the trailing edge.

1.5hr Marina. Flew local, having fun with my wing. The fog came in, it remained visible but I could see water drops coming from my lines. I landed and carefully put my glider down on ice plant to minimize sand. Another pilot showed up just as I finished (she was really good!)
Tip - the wind can be different at Marina vs Sand City.

Stopped at Goat Rock, Bill and Paul were there. We had short flights, air was crap punching through a thermal block.
Bill keeps a kite in his truck. Good idea, we used it to test the air.
