BRIEF:
When I started this project I had many different ideas for my brief but I knew I wanted to create a stylised video. As I felt like this would be too easy to just create a video and leave it at that, I wanted it to have specific elements to such as a VHS vintage style to it as if the video was homemade. I chose this, as it would look more unique and different from a regular stylised video. I wanted my brief to still be personal so I left the fashion theme to the video open ended. I must direct, produce and edit when creating the final piece. I will be gaining and improving my skills from this. To go alongside the video I will create a psychical piece, which will promote my blog and this project. This could be in the form of a business card or a lookbook. I needed to consider my budget and I felt like £25 would be a good amount as I didn’t need to buy a lot of extras for my project, just props and my professionally printed piece. A constraint that I knew could occur straight away any copyright issues with music that I might use in my video. Also any outfits that I choose to wear being too inappropriate for my target audience as I have a wide age range to work with. For this project I will be using many techniques and process such as cinematography, editing, producing, directing, storyboard making and styling. I created a schedule for all of my work planned out of the next seven weeks, as I want to improve my time management skills. I also wrote next to each week if I had completed what I planned to do so I could keep reviewing my process.
Research:
To begin my research I began my looking into existing lookbook videos from sources like YouTube. I found a video that I liked the style of by a Youtuber called ‘ToThe9s”. I found many elements that I liked the look of from this video such as the lighting, the text and the music.
I then looked at online lookbooks by clothing company’s such as Lazy Oaf. I discussed elements that I wanted to use in my work such as the colour scheme on their shoot and the hair and makeup.
Similarly, I researched a Vivienne Westwood lookbook as I know that this is a very professional, high end company so their lookbooks should be beneficial to my research. I really liked how professional their work looked and how simple it it.
Finally, I looked at a video lookbook by a clothing company called Jack Wills. Again as they are a big company I wanted to see what type of work they created. I found this video very inspirational as it’s very fun and I can tell it was created to suit their young audience. I also liked the way they credited their music at the end of the video. This is important for me to do to avoid any copyright problems as this is a constraint of mine.
I later found another online lookbook which was created to promote a shop called Amelia Jane London. I really liked the bright colours used in their images especially in the summer collection lookbook. I also liked the creativity to the extra graphic elements layered over the imagery.
Target audience:
As my video will be displayed onto my blog, I needed to do some research into my target audience. Specifically what time of person goes onto my blog. So i looked at my blogs analytics which unfortunately didn't give me a lot of information. But it did tell me that the majority of my audience is from an English speaking country and so i wouldn't need to worry about language barriers. I realised that my target audience for my final piece is anyone of any age and gender who like fashion and follow the latest trends. More specifically, i think my blog is more suitable for women as I most often write about women's culture. Also I think my blog is more suitable for a younger audience for example someone between the age of 13 to 30. As the age range starts quite low this creates a constraint that i don't want any of my work to be too inappropriate for the audience. I will need to consider my outfit designs carefully so they aren't too explicit. After realising my target audience i had to make sure to keep considering my target audience to throughout the rest of my work. This is so it is relevant to them.
Mind map:
I decided to create a mind map to help me come up with some video ideas for my final piece. I had multiple ideas such as a ‘how to’ type video, a personal video, a trend video or a specific brand of clothing video. I really like create mind maps when I’m struggling with ideas as it helps me layout my potential ideas in front of me to see what my options are. It also helps me to create more ideas from these. I could refer back to this mind map when the time comes to choose my video idea.
Trends:
As I had a potential idea to create a summer trends video, I decided to research into this. I found doing this very useful as I could see what trends were going to popular in the summer. Even though this research was very specific to catwalk trends and so I would struggle for this to suit my target audience, I could make the trends more wearable.
Trendsetter:
After researching trends, I felt like my sources werent very reliable as they were from fashion and magazine websites. After doing some styling research, i found out about a website called FashionTrendSetter which has articles about trend forecasting. This website is where many of the sources I gathered research from previously, get their fashion information. So I decided to use this website to find more information about forecasting. I specifically looked at summer 2017 trend forecasting as at the time of this research i knew my chosen idea. I had to search for a while to find relevant articles as they were released in 2016 for the future. I found Porsche’s summer accessory design for 2017 and Maredamare’s 2017 beachwear collection. I found quite a bit of information specifically about colours and patterns. Most importantly i learnt about the colour of the year which is green. I did find this useful and it was good to have look into how the fashion industry works.
Interview:
I wanted to gain some research and knowledge from a source that works in this area of the fashion industry, someone who creates lookbooks regularly. As this was my first time so I had many questions about creating a lookbook which I couldn’t find answers to. So I decided to ask many five different content creators such as bloggers and Youtubers to interview them. I tried to get a variety of creators such as people with a big following and a smaller following. Unfortunately none of them replied so I asked my peers if they knew any small bloggers that I could contact. Fortunately I found a blogger called Katie Peake who I contact and she replied. I luckily got to interview her via email and she answered the questions that I needed answers to. It was also useful to hear her personal opinion about topics such as trends for the summer. I found it beneficial to hear opinions from a real person and not just an online source.
Book research:
As I had to use a range of contextual sources when gaining my research, I decided to use books to help me. These books were Fashion Styling by Jo Dingemans, Basic Studio Directing by Rod Fairweather, The Guerilla Film Makers Handbook by Chris Jones and Genevieve Jolliffe, Production Management For Film & Video by Richard Gates and Fashion Promotion Gwyneth Moore. As I had no knowledge about the subject I needed to research for my brief, I felt like books would be a more reliable source than the internet for example. I found these books very helpful for my research as I found information from people who hand worked in these specific areas. However, some of the books were outdated and so I found it hard to find information that related to my work. The most useful books were Basic Studio Directing taught me about many different camera shots and Fashion Styling which gave me lots of tips about budgeting and locations when shooting.
VHS research:
In my brief it states that my video has to have a VHS style to it. So I started researching into the history of VHS. I found a lot of information about how the VHS was created in Japan and spread across to America and then the world. I also looked at the look of VHS videos on Youtube to understand what it looks like and so I can recreate this in my video to make it look realistic. I’m glad I did this as I would be more unsure about what to create if I didn’t research this.
Electra heart + Lolita research:
At this stage I knew roughly what style my final outcome will be, I began to gain inspiration from different areas of art such as music and film. For example, I was inspired by Electra Heart who features in the singer Marina and the Diamonds music videos. She is an alter ego created to look like a 50s housewife. I decided to research into why the ego was created and what her different styles mean which I found really interesting. I really loved the way she is styled such as her clothes, makeup and hair. I also loved the way she is shot with props and the types of props that have been used such as an old telephone and camera. I felt very inspired by the makeup design and props. I also began to gain inspiration from films. Such as the movie called ‘Lolita’. I began to recognise clothes that the main character wears in today's fashion trends from my trend research. Such as, the off the shoulder flounce designs and gingham patterns. I decided to research more into the film and I gained inspiration from this, such as, I really like her heart shaped sunglasses and her plaited bun hair style.
Exhibition research:
I decided to go to Birmingham Art Gallery to go and visit the exhibition called ‘I Want! I Want!’. This exhibition featured the work of 27 artists that have been influenced by the rapid development of technology. I felt like going to this exhibition would benefit me as my work is about technology. I really enjoyed seeing the many different videos they had at the exhibition as I could see how they present their work at the exhibition and how the audience can't interact with them. I really loved the video by Rachel Maclean called ‘Feed Me!’. This video was about the sexualisation of childhood and it featured a lot of pastel blue, pink and yellow colours. I’m glad I went to this exhibition as I got to see pieces in person and gain inspiration from them.
Moodboards:
I then created moodboards to help gather my ideas and inspiration together from my research. I created a general mood board as well as a clothes, makeup and hair moodboard. I added these to my folder so I could refer back to these when I start to create my designs to gain ideas. I also created a had rendered general mood board using magazine clippings. I felt like this would be more organic as I have to work with what I like in the magazine, instead of finding a specific image online. I’m glad I created these mood boards as they are extremely useful to refer back to and to relate my work to my research. I later decided to create more moodboards as my work became more detailed. So I created moodboards about lighting whcih I had lesrnt from my directing book research, accesories, poses and props which wa sinspired by Electra Heart. I found images online of different styles that I liked and complied them toghetehr before disscussing in annotation what I liked and didn't like about the images. I learnt about techniques such as the golden hour and how to pose stragetically with an accesory. This was useufl as I could see exactrly what I wanted from my video coming togetehr. I added these to my folder as I could refer back to them on shoot for inspiration on elemetns such as poses. I could alos show these to my camerman to show him what type of light I would like form the shot.
Primary research, shop images, promotional work:
I also gathered promotional material from shops to see how they are styling their models and what they’re selling for the season to see what in trend. I gathered booklets and promotional postcards. As well as other pieces not relating to fashion or beauty but because I wanted a variety of research and I liked the way they layout their work. I also looked around shop's at their imagery inside and the window display. This was to again see what clothes they felt were appropriate for the upcoming seasons trends and to see the style of the imagery. I also placed this in my folder so I can refer back to it when creating my outfit designs and for layout inspiration when I’m creating my promotional material designs.
Pastel research:
At this point I knew specifically what my videos theme would be - a pastel summer, and so I decided to research into the pastel colour scheme. I first found out about what the colours meant and how they are created. I used a book called Pantone: The 20th Century In Color by Leatrice Eiseman and Keith Recker to gain research about pastel colours in the 1950s and how they were used for objects and in Hollywood. I also researched about the art movement Art Nouveau which used a lot of pastel colours in their work such as in glass work, interior design and jewellery as well as design, painting and sculpture. I finally researched different ways that pastel colours can be worn in fashion. I’m happy I did this research as I learnt a lot about the topic of my video such as its history and how to style the colours which will useful for my outfit designs.
Props, spray paint and budgeting:
As I had budgeted at the start of my project £25 I needed to stick to this and so I created a budgeting diary which listed everything that I spent money on. This is so I could keep track and not go over my planned budget. From my research of Electra Heart and the props moodboards, I knew i wanted some props and so I went to charity shop's to find cheap items such as a tennis racket, telephone and a camera. I later decided to spray paint these props and so i had to budget for the pink spray paint. I decided to do this as the original colours of some of the props were quite harsh and my videos theme is pastel. So I chose the colour pink as pastel colours mean femininity and so i thought this would relate well. It is also a very fun, bright colour which relates to summer. A problem I faced was at the end of my work I had to get my promotional material professional printed. As I only had £11 of my budget left this meant I had to shop around and find the most cost effective option and place. Luckily enough, I found a place and I was left at the end of my project with 9p left in my budget. I’m very happy with myself that I managed to keep track of my spendings throughout this project and manage my spendings effectively.
Outfit designing:
After uch research, I finally began designing my outfits for my video. I created these outfits using clothes that I have at home so i wouldn't have to spend any of my budget buying new clothes. A constraint I had whilst creating my outfits was keeping my target audience in mind. As my target audience is suhc a wide age range, I didn't want the outfits to be too explicit for the younger audience. At first I didn't realise this until I reflected back on my research. I began to stop designing outfits with very short skirt or shorts and outfits with a lot of skin. I began to create outfits that still showed some skin so my audience to recreate the outfits in the summer and to fit the theme whilst keeping them appaorpriate. I also hand to make sure that the outfits featured a lot of pastel colour whilst also being wearable and suitable enoug for my target audience to want to recreate. After much expiermetation and consideration, I chose four final designs. I felt like four was a good number of choices as it's even and won't make the video too long.

Music:
Even though adding music to my video is a preproduction job, I chose to do this during my research. I did this as I wanted to handle my time management skills effectively and I knew the video editing stage would be hectic. So I did some research on websites like Youtube and Soundcloud to find some copyright free music as I didn't want to face with the constraint of having copyright music in my video. I found a variety of music that I liked which hand lyrics and alos didn't have lyrics. I wanted to pick both possiblities as I felt like music wihtout lyrics might be quite boring and simple. Many lookbook video sthat I hand researched often hand msuci with lyrics. I decided to leave these chopices until later when i hand to begin editing my video. As the footage has to go along to the beat of the music I hand to relisten to the music and choose my choice. I managed to narrow it down to three songs before asking mypeers who fit into my target audience whta they would expect from a lookbook video. I chose the song ‘BLOWSOM - Pantoufle’ by Majestic Color on Soundclod which has lyrics in it and is alos copyrigth free. I’m glad I gathered songs earlier on in my project as it really helped my time managment later on and meant i could quickly ebgin editing my video as soon as it was shot.

After the shoots hand finished completely I straight away started editing my video. I watched some Youtube videos beforehand to practise, as I’m not very familiar with this skill. To begin, I imported the footage from the SD card, which I had used for filming. I then created a new project in Adobe Premier Pro and dragged all of the clips onto the timeline. I began sorting through the clips trying to find the best pieces of footage and separating them from the not very good parts. When I hand finished this I assembled the footage into a rough timeline and kept the rest of the footage in case I needed any extra clips. I hand two ideas drawn out on a storyboard for the intro of my video, one option was all of the outfits on one clip next to each other and the other was the outfits displaying one after the other. I tried the first idea by creating a white line in Photoshop, saving it as a PNG file and inserting it as a reference. I then cut the chosen clip, which were long shots of the full outfits so they would fit in the border. I also made the second intro, which was just the outfit clips one after the other on the timeline. After I had done this I played it to see what I thought, I also asked my peers what they thought about it. After consideration I think I liked the second intro better, it went along to the beat of the music and as my video is a VHS style it should look sort of home-made and rough. Having the borders makes it look too edited and unnatural. Even though my peers felt like the first intro looked more interesting, they agreed that it doesn’t fit my video style. As I had already chosen my music I didn't need to find any then so I just downloaded the song and inserted it onto the timeline. The music is a very important element to the video, as it has to flow to the beat of the song. So I made fine edits of my video by clipping and placing the footage together so that it went in time to the song. When I had finished this I started colour correcting and grading the footage. As my video has a summer theme to it, I wanted the sky to look bluer as it sometimes wasn’t very on the days of the shoots. So I edited the colour selection so the blue was a higher value. As I had already edited the photos using a filter in Adobe Lightroom, I wanted to base my video off of this so my work flows and links together. I copy and pasted the same filter from Lightroom into the video and I also adjusted the brightness, highlights, saturation and contrast within the software. Throughout this editing process I constantly revised and reviewed my video to make sure it fits my theme and is going the way I planned. I then added the VHS effect. As I had no idea how to do this I followed a tutorial I found online which showed me how to create a VHS look. The tutorial told me to download different elements, which I added to certain clips throughout the video. This was called wave effects and wave warps. I also added noise, sharpened the image and gaussian blur to every clip by copy and pasting to make the video look more realistic. I looked online on a website called Freesound which has copyright free sound effects that anyone can download. I felt like this would add an extra element to the video and I found sounds such as a tennis ball bouncing. I imported the sound effects and dragged them onto the timeline and matched them to the clips. I then watched the whole video through to see how it looked. I realised that I didn’t really like the sound effects as it sounded quite odd, as you can't hear any other noises only the music and the specific sound effects. I again asked my peers how they felt and they said it didn’t sound natural and didn’t really fit. So I got rid of them. I created text elements on Adobe Illustrator such as the play symbol and the date to make it look like a VHS video and also end credits and special thanks. I used a font called ‘VCR’ and ‘Champagne & Limousines’ which I had downloaded from Dafont.com. I saved these as a PNG file and dragged them onto the timeline and added them to the appropriate parts. I used the date the 21st of June on the screen as this is the first day of summer and my video has a summer theme. Finally, I decided to create an intro before the video begins using a storyboard. I wanted this to look like a desktop of a computer and someone is clicking on the video. I feel like this will make the video look even more home-made and personal. It also adds an extra element to the video to make it unique and stand out from other stylised videos available. I created this by using a screen recording programme called QuickTime. I also followed instructions which I found online about how to change desktop icons to different images to continue the style of the video and make the desktop look cute. I then started recording the desktop screen and I moved the mouse towards the VHS tape icon called ‘Pastel Summer Lookbook’. I then added this recorded clip to the timeline at the start of the video. I added sound effects such as a slight computer whirring noise and a click noise to make it seem more realistic. Next I had to make the start of the video look like it had been actually clicked on, I animated the scale and position keyframes to make the video fill the whole screen. I’m really happy with the way my video has turned out. I used my research and inspiration throughout the video so that it looks exactly how I planned it to. I made sure to consider my constraints such as by not making it it explicit or inappropriate for my younger audience. I also made sure my target audience would also enjoy the video. As my target audience age range is quite large I didn't want to make the video too childish or serious and I think I found a good balance of this in my video. Overall, I’m so happy with the outcome.

Inspired by my lookbook research and the mood boards I created I started designing my lookbook using a template I made on Adobe illustrator. At first I considered having three pages per outfit, however, after consideration I realised that having three pages per outfit would be too uneven. So I created a lookbook with 26 pages, four pages per outfit and a back and front cover. But after doing some online research of printing company this would be over my budget. So I narrowed it down to thirteen pages for images, two for blank pages and two for the front and back. This would be a lot cheaper to print. I used my lookbook research from the beginning of my project as inspiration and the mood boards, which I had, wrote about to create my ideas. I considered many different ideas such as creating a systematic lookbook were each page looks the same, images and text next to each other on spreads and spreads with graphics on them. I recreated a few designs on Adobe InDesign. I really like the idea two which is a combination of images and text. The images and text are placed in different places for each spread and so each one is unique. This means that the audience won't get bored as they’re looking through it. I also really like idea 5, which is inspired by my research of a video lookbook by the Youtuber’s called TwoThe9s. This incorporated graphics of tropical leaves into the spreads next to the images so they fill the negative space. But this would take quite a while to create as I’d have to draw the leaves myself and I’m unfortunately short on time.
I then moved on to creating promotional postcard designs. During my research of different promotional material I really liked postcards as they’re small, can easily be given out and can hold a lot of information. I created a moodboard for promotional postcards before I started designing. I created many designs that were inspired by my moodboard, promotional material that I hand gathered or of my research. I really liked designing these postcards as they have a front and back so I can choose to use the backside or I could experiment with making a single sided postcard. From this I chose my favourite design, first a very simple design with two images on one side, another simple design with one image and a busy brightly coloured double sided design. I really liked these designs, as they are all very different and unique in their own way. I could really play around and consider carefully the images that I would choose on the postcard, as this has to draw the audience in. I pushed my final favourite ideas to see if I could make them even better. I decided to create some more of my designs on Illustrator by inserting the images from the shoot and adding any necessary text or other elements. I did this so I could get a fair judgement of which idea I liked the best as I couldn’t really tell from the small sketches I drew.
From the research and the design I have created I have come to the conclusion that I want to create postcards to go alongside my video. I really like the idea of having postcards as people can pick them up and keep them for themselves. They are simple and I can print a lot of them whilst still staying without my budget. Unlike for a lookbook where I could only print one to fit within my budget. Therefore as I can print more postcards people can take them home and this promotes my blog. My favourite design from my final three is the design with the 80s inspired graphic background. I really love the bright coloured background and the geometric shapes. I think it looks very fun and playful which perfectly fits my lookbook video. It has information on the back of the postcard without looking too crowded. I decided to look into were the cheapest place to get my postcards printed; I looked at printing websites such as DoxDirect, VistaPrint, Moo.com, Printed.com and DigitalPrinting. From my research I found that Moo.com and Printed.com are both too expensive. I liked Vistaprints prices however; they have quite expensive delivery, which isn’t very fast. This was similar for DigitalPrinting as they had a cheap set price for a lot of orders; however, the delivery is £5, which takes me over my budget. So I have decided to go with DoxDirect as I have used them three times now and I have always been happy with their service. They print very cheaply and the delivery is free over £2.50. I’m really happy with the quality and size of my postcard. I feel like it’s small enough that it won't be heavy at all unlike a book, or be too big for people to carry if they take one. It’s also big enough that they won't lose it and they can clearly see all of the text and imagery. I’m glad I chose a postcard over a book as it was definitely a better option to promote my blog and my project.

I am now beginning to research different lookbooks to use as inspiration for my lookbook template and design. I have found different lookbooks and promotional material with relevant images to my project’s theme. I have also tried to find different layouts of work such as lookbooks, postcards and promotional books to gain a variety of research and help me decided on what I’d like to create.
The first lookbook I looked at is by the fashion brand Ted Baker. This book features their 2012 Autumn/Winter collection called ‘Survival of the Fittest’. The cover is very simple made of beige textured card. In the centre of the cover, on a white triangle vector, is the name of the collection, this is in a thin and long sans serif font which is the same as the font on the rest of the cover. However, for the word ‘Fittest’ they have used a calligraphic style font. They have also added imagery of a needle and thread to create the lines going across the ‘T’s. I think this is very clever and shows to people who wouldn't know that this book is related to fashion. Inside of the book features lots of flood filled imagery, no of the imagery doesn’t fill the entire page. On all of the spreads the mages even stretch onto both pages. Throughout the book they have kept a continuity of the images of the models being on the left hand page and any text is on the right hand side. The text or sometimes imagery on the right hand side is about the collection or is related to their ‘Survival of the Fittest’ theme. Such as there is imagery instructing the audience on how to hunt or how to style a sword. I think this is very unique and stops the lookbook from seeming to repetitive and boring. It makes the lookbook seem more interesting and makes the audience want to look through it more. I think this is very clever and I would like to experiment with this type of thing in my designs for my lookbook. Throughout the book there is a consistent theme of the photos being green as they are shot in the woods. The models are either on their own or with another model. The shots are always a wide shot as you can see above their heads and the ground beneath them. I think this looks very consistent and flows well, however, I don't want my lookbook to be this consistent as I feel it looks very repetitive. I would like to differ the style of shots throughout my lookbook . I really like the colour scheme in their lookbook. I like how the photos are predominantly green and any text or imagery features the colours from the cover of the book such as white and orange. They have also used a dark complimentary coloured green for some text so it doesn't contrast too harshly with the background image but the audience can still see it. The body of text on the right has a central alignment in a border surrounding the text so it doesn't get lost on the page. Overall, I really like the look of this lookbook, I love how professional and high quality it is. The cover is nicely textured and the images are glossy. Even though I don't have the equipment, the budget or that many photos to make a lookbook on the same level to this. I will still try in my own way to make it as professional as theirs.
I have found two promotional postcards, one from a graphic designer and another from a fashion brand called Anphropologie. The first post card is promoting their skills to anyone who would like to contact them. On one side of the postcard is imagery of the graphic designers work which is black and white monochrome. On the other side they have kept the black and white theme. There is text in the bottom left corner, their name is in a heavily weighted sans serif font. The rest of the text which include information about how to contact the graphic design, is in the same font family, however, this has a lighter weight to it. This postcard design is very simple but it is also effective. There is no unnecessary imagery or colours on the back of the postcard which could distract the target audience away from what is important which is their contact details. These postcards are obviously supposed to be next to someone's work for people to pick up if they would like to. I really like this idea as it promotes their work well. I’m interested in creating an idea like this for my final piece. On the other hand, the other postcard that I have is quite different. On one side is a flood filled image of a women also in black and white, staring directly into the camera. This shot is called a mid shot. On the other side of the card, instead of continuing the monochrome theme like the other postcard decided did, this one features a light pink paint brush strokes. The light pink is very classy and feminine and I think it works well for this brand as they tend to use very pale colours. If they hand used bright fuchsia pink, it would not have suited their brand. On top of the pink is text which is all in the same serif font. However, they have used a different font style such as italics, capital letters or they have altered the size. The body of text which is place slightly higher than middle of the page, has a justified alignment. The text at the bottom of the page has a central alignment. I think this works well as they flow straight down the centre of the page. This postcard is different to the first as it is instead promoting the brands wedding collection to a very different audience. I really like how simple the first postcard is which makes ti effective and straight to the point, I will experiment with this during my designing process. However, I definitely prefer the second postcard just because of how feminine it looks without being too busy. They have included text which they have laid out so it doesn't overwhelm the audience when they look at it. I definitely want to experiment with this style. I feel like a postcard design would be useful to have by my video at the exhibition for people to take if they are interested in my blog.
My next research is of a promotional book by the makeup brand Urban Decay. This book is different and similar to my previous research in many ways. On the front of the book features their signature colours which is purple as the background. On top of that is embossed text in a lighter colour of purple, featuring the brands name in the centre. There is also an elegant swirling design coming off of the text and filling the rest of the cover so it doesn't look plain or boring. The embossed elements gives the text and nice glossy look and added texture. Inside of the book features images of women in a medium close up shot on the left hand side to the page. Similarly to the Ted Baker lookbook they have a similar layout of placing images on the left and writing on the right. However, unlike the lookbook, these images are only on the left and don't carry on onto the rest of the spread. These images show examples of makeup looks which can be created with their products. Unlike any other research I’ve done so far, this promotional material uses shapes to make their images look more interesting. Such as, on the right hand side of the spread, they have used a circle shape with an extreme close up shot of the women’s make up inside of it. So the target audience can clearly see how to wear and style the makeup that the brand sells. The circle also features the same elegant details as on the front cover to make the page look less boring. Underneath the shape is a sans serif font in a different font family. The title is on a separate line in a bigger size and with a heavier weight to it. The body of text has a lighter weight to it. Both text elements have a right alignment which is unlike my other research and is very unique as it’s not often seen. I really like how they have continued the elegant details throughout the promotional material. I will experiment with using different shapes for my images, similarly to their style as it’s very unique and will be remembered by my target audience.
My final research is a promotional leaflet which folds up and can be stood up. The leaflet is for the brand Hard Rock Cafe. It features eight images, four on either side of the leaflet when unfolded. Each photo has a white border framing the images. All of the images are mid shots but they all differ slightly. Two images of men are in the middle of the leaflet, these were both taken in a studio setting. In both images the audience can clearly see that the men are wearing the Hard Rock Cafe merchandise which promotes their products. Two images on the edges of the leaflet are of women which were taken on location. On these two images they feature text about the company such as a rewards systems and the shop’s menu. A lot of the text is the same, a bold sans serif but in different sizes, colours and laid out differently. On one image the text is at the bottom of the image with a blue rectangle behind it. As the text is at the bottom of the image, the audience can clearly still see the image. The font is white with central alignment so it stands out. However, on the other image it is a lot busier. The text has left alignment in a bigger size which takes up quite a lot of the image. This image also features the colours red and black which shows that the reward system relates to wealth and prestigious. As this format is a leaflet it is very unique from my other research. I think this could be an interesting design as it is small yet it shows a lot of images unlike a postcard design. However, I don’t think my images would suit the style of a leaflet design so I will therefore not be using this format.
From this research, i have concluded that I would like to create either a book design or a postcard design to go alongside my video final piece. I think these design will work well and my audience will be able to take them if they wish. This will promote my work, myself and my blog. It will also make my project more memorable. I will now begin to create designs inspired by my research and a mood board which I will create.

Now that I have finished my video, I have realised that I would like to make a psychical lookbook along side my stylised video. At the exhibition problems such as power cuts could occur and so if this happens I would have nothing to show from this project. Have a physical piece such as a postcard, as well could also promote people to pick it up and keep it if I make multiple copies. This could promote my work to anyone who is interested. I will have to research existing promotional materials. At the moment, potential design ideas are postcards, a lookbook or a brochure type piece. These designs will feature the photography me and the cameraman took on the days of shooting and also stills from the footage we shot. I will need to consider my budget when printing my lookbook as I only have £11 left. I will need to look on a variety of websites to find the best price and I may to cut down on pages or change my design style if it’s too expensive.

As I have finished shooting my lookbook, I now have to begin editing. However, before this I need to confirm my choice of music. I looked back at my music research which I’m glad I did beforehand as it saved me a lot of time. I now know more about my videos themes and can imagine it more clearly of how it will look. So I narrowed my choices down to Elijah Who’s ‘Something Cute and Happy’ and Majestic Color’s ‘BLOWSOM - Pantoufle’. However, for Elijah Who’s music I had to ask permission via email which I did in case it would take him a while to reply. He did get back to me and said I can use his song. I also decided to look for more music to see if I could find anything better than these now that I have my video in mind. The song hand to be at least three minutes long and it had to sound happy with a upbeat sound. I looked on Youtube for copyright free music and I found a girl called Sophie Meier. She’s a singer who collaborates with other artists and producers. I really liked her song ‘Don’t Be Scared’ which was also free to download. I hand now narrowed down my option to these three songs. I asked my peers which song they felt the best as my target audience is around their age. From their opinions and my consideration I came to the conclusion that I want to use Majestic Color’s song. As it’s copyright free, I wouldn't have to worry about that. I really like how it’s upbeat and there is lyrics in the song which makes it less boring and will make my video seem less plain. Now that I have decided on my music choice I can now begin to edit the footage that was shot.

On Sunday the 14th of May, I began the creation of my lookbook. I decided on the first day, as I wasn’t sure if the weather was going to stay nice, to go to the field as it’s nearest to my house. Me and the cameraman can quickly go back if the weather does turn bad. I got dressed into my chosen outfit, which was a white dress and did a gold and brown makeup look, which I had designed. With us I took my folder, which included the risk assessment sheets and storyboards, powder to fix my makeup, an umbrella in case it starts raining and wipes in case my shoes or clothes got dirty. I asked my cameraman to take a Polaroid of me on my Polaroid camera to not only document the filming but from my research, I learnt that this is what photographers and cameraman do to make sure the lighting is correct. We looked at my storyboards and began shooting. At first it takes a while to get used to being in front of a camera but after practise it became more natural. We took many medium and long shots, which I had also learnt about from my research. We followed the storyboards and also did extra scenes that I came up with as we were there. I was unable to do a shot of me lying down on the grass as I originally planned because the grass was too dirty. But we did do some spinning shots and shots of me by the tree and close up of my shoes, accessories and makeup. We spread the shooting out to Monday as well as I knew that it would be quieter then as there was lots of people walking around on Sunday. On Monday we got lots of B-roll such as shots of the sky, flowers and trees to add in. Overall, I think this was a good shoot and it was very successful.
On Tuesday the 16th of May, we went to the trail location. I dressed in my blue outfit and I bought my folder and other object with me. However, I unfortunately forgot my camera, which I had originally planned on my storyboard to use a prop. Instead we just carried on without it and followed the rest of the storyboard as well as improvising some scenes so the footage looked natural. We took many long shots of me walking away from the camera down the trail and also some long up shots of things like my nails. On the next day, the weather was too bad to go back and film anymore, so instead I worked on editing the pictures we hand taken from the previous days in Adobe Lightroom. As I was doing this extra work now, this meant that at the end of shooting I wouldn't feel too overwhelmed with work.
On Thursday the 18th of May, we went to the park location. I wore my pink babydoll outfit and as it was a weekday I was hoping it would be quiet. However, unfortunately it was still busy with parents and children but we carried on nevertheless trying to avoid filming them. We took the slider, which I had hired from my college to use at the park. With it we took panning shots of the flowers in the flowerbeds. I also used a blanket on the grown and created the lying down scene, which I originally wanted in my field location. We combined this with the panning technique of the slider which turned out amazing. I used the telephone prop which I hand spray-painted and placed it with my other accessories for the outfit and I think it worked really well. As we couldn't film on the play area like I wanted to in my storyboard because of the children there, we improvised and took shots of me by the flowers and sitting on benches.
On Sunday my cameraman had to work so we couldn't shoot again till Monday the 22nd and Tuesday the 23rd of May. On these days we shot at the tennis courts. There was no one there thankfully as it was a weekday so we hand the courts to ourselves. I’m really glad of this as we got to complete all of the shots i wanted to do on my storyboard and I would have felt quite embarrassed filming with people near. I brought along my tennis racket which I hand spray-painted, my tennis ball and camera which I had forgotten from the trail shoot. On Tuesday we again came back to the location and took more B-roll and extra shots. This was probably my favourite shoot and location as the weather was very nice and the shots that we took looked amazing.
Whilst filming I made sure to ask my cameraman to play me back the footage to make sure it is up to a high enough standard for me and that the understood what I wanted from the shot. I was able to finish filming earlier than I expected. I originally planned on finishing on the 24th of May. Now that I have finally completed the filming portion of my stylised video and I now need to begin confirming my music and editing the footage. For editing I will use Adobe Premiere Pro and I will take screenshots throughout to document from progress. I am currently on track to finishing editing the video by the 31st of May and if I finish earlier than that then I can begin working on creating a small lookbook booklet or zine to go alongside my video.

I’ve decided to research more into trends as I feel like the sources from my original trend research aren’t very authentic. I have recently discovered a website all about catwalk trends with fashion predictions up to two years into the future called Fashion Trendsetter. I think this website will provide me with useful research that I can put forward into my work before shooting begins. There are more sites similar to this one; however, you can only access the information through a subscription service.
The first thing that i discovered from looking through this website was about the colour of the year for 2017 which is the called ‘Greenery’. This colour is yellow-green shade, which means to revive and renew. This colour gives us hope for 2017 that we will rejuvenate and unite. The colour green is not only linked to nature but it is now also connected to technology as lots of logos are embracing green. In fashion the green colour could provide a pop of colour for accessories and footwear or in bold accent patterns. This colour has been scene in recent collections for men, women and children by Kenzo and Michael Kors. I think this is interesting and a good coincidence that the colour of the year is green as my lookbook video is going to be based around nature. As it has a summer theme, the green from nature will be flourishing in the background of a lot of the scenes.
Next, I found out about Porsche's spring and summer designs for 2017. They have created some contemporary pieces for a ladies accessories collection. The first piece is the MetricClutch, which is made from very with metal elements. The clutch has a clean striped design on it. The next piece is called the VisorBag. This bag is round and has curves on it, which relate to femininity. It also has bold metal pieces on it, which are similar to a car design. These bags are very simple but you can tell that a lot of thought was put into each one. I like how the bag is related to women and it also links back to the company's heritage, which are cars. The colours of the bags are very sleek and modern such as completely white and navy. I really like how on some designs they’ve added a bright accent colour to stand out.
The final article i found was about Maredamare’s 2017 beachwear collection. To create this collection in 2016 they worked with trend researchers who gathered information for a worldwide audience. There are four main themes to this collection. The first one is the Bourgeoisie, which will give the collection a sexy and feminine edge to it combined with relaxation. It was inspired by French high-society's and the 60s to the 90s. The next theme is Flamboyant. This theme links to spontaneity and having fun through colours and prints inspired by the energy of the countries in the southern hemisphere. The styles look handmade and using techniques and methods from the past. The third theme is called Impression. This theme is inspired by psychology and feeling peace at mind for a modern and active lifestyle. They wanted to create a hybrid between underwear and swimwear. The final theme is Survivalist. This theme is very futuristic and was inspired by water with its aesthetics being the army.
I feel like this research was quite useful to me as I got to learn about how fashion companies think about colours and inspiration and how they combine this to create a collection. It was very interesting to learn about the colour of the year and how it has already shown up in areas such as technology, graphic design and fashion. I really liked the visuals for Maredamare’s beachwear collection. I liked how they combined images for inspiration as well as colour selection from these images that they will use in their collection. However, I found the information on this page quite hard to understand. Overall, even though i struggled to find trends forecasting’s that were relevant to my work and were free, i think this research was beneficial to me as i got an insight into the fashion industry.

As I previously mentioned whilst reviewing my original moodboard that I made digitally, I said that I would like to try and make a hand rendered version using magazine cut outs. I decided to do this as I think it’ll turn out well and I won't be able to select the images by searching online, they’ll be random from magazines. I tried to find mainly pink colours as this links to my pastel theme in my stylised video. However, I also looked for images of nature as well as it will be a summer lookbook and so to get across this theme there will be a lot of nature in the video. I found an image from an Essie advert of a hand with pink nail varnish on it, which I felt was very appropriate. I also luckily enough found an image of heart shaped sunglasses which links perfectly to my Lolita research. Also from my research of trends and my interview with a blogger, I knew that gingham will be very popular this summer and so I added an image of that which I found. I also found some nice imagery of makeup, which is from an advert for the brand Nars and also for hair. I really liked the look of the blusher against her pale skin and her red lips with some gloss on them. Finally, I found some text, which involves the word ‘summer’. I felt like this was very appropriate and relevant and I really like the calligraphy and handwritten style font they have used. Overall, I’m really glad I took the time to create this as I feel it really captures the style I’m going for. I can look back on this whilst on location shooting and remember what my theme is. I can also show this to my cameraman who can also easily understand what I want from the shoots.

As I had all of props and spray paint ready, I decided to spray paint them. I decided to spray paint them to have a continuous theme. I was inspired by my research of Electra Heart when choosing my props and I wanted them to relate to my locations. I wanted to spray paint them pink as my lookbook theme is pastel and I wanted the items to look unusual and fun. I think having the props originally would have looked quite boring and by spray painting the props it added more to the video. The original colours of the props also would have clashed with my outfits such as; the tennis racket was a black and orange colour, which would have contrasted harshly. I think pink makes the lookbook look very feminine, fun and childish which links to my research of Lolita. Before spray-painting I considered sanding down some of the items such as the phone as it was made of a shiny material. However, I decided to just go for it and I spray painted all of the items. I followed the instructions on the can and spray painted them and waited fifteen minutes each time. I had to do multiple layers to build up the colour. I’m really happy with the result as they look very bright and stand out a lot better now. I think they will compliment the outfits and will stand out better in the video.

Before the filming begun, I drew out storyboards for each location. During my research of video production I found that storyboards are very beneficial when filming and creates ideas that can be used for the final product. I drew out different shots, angles and B-roll (which is shots between the main point of the video). These also have small explanations about the shots, as the sketches are only quick and quite hard to understand. I also wrote which outfit I will wear with them for these locations, which I can refer back to on the day to see what to wear. I did this so I could refer back to them whilst filming the video so I know the flow of the video and what to do next. I feel like this will be really useful and time saving, as I won't be stood around thinking about what shots to film. I also created risk assessment sheets. These are sheets that list any hazards that could happen on location when filming. It talks about how to avoid these accidents and how to deal with them if they happen. I filled these sheets out for my chosen locations, which are the field, the trial, the park and tennis courts. These sheets are very important and to have on hand in case something does happen. It is also good to acknowledge any dangers that could happen before the day to be aware of them and warn people about them. I’m glad I took the time to create the storyboards and risk assessment sheets as these will benefit me a lot and it made me sit down and thoroughly think about the direction of my video.

I have decided to keep my pieces of paper that have my outfit drawings, make up ideas and storyboards in a lever arch folder. I felt like this would keep my work more together and less messy as I keep creating ideas. I like to have organisation with my work and so keeping it in a folder really helps with this. I have also bought folder dividers so for each section there is a divider that I can easily refer to. I could take this folder on site with me to shoots to check back on the outfits and the storyboards as we’re filming. As I purchased the folder, the plastic wallets and the dividers with my college bursary money, it didn’t cost me anything and so it didn't affect my budget. I’m really happy with my choice and I will still continue to scan in any drawings to put into my online journal to write about.

To organise the video production and scheduling, I had to talk to my cameraman who will be working with me to film the lookbook. I spoke to him and we organised together what days we could both work. On the 14th of May we can begin the filming of the lookbook. We discussed that all of the dates work for both of us, expect for the 21st as my cameraman is working then from 3pm. This is fine; as I have budgeted enough days for filming that missing one day won't affect the outcome that harshly. On this day I could catch up on any more research in preparation to present my development on the 26th or practise my hair and makeup designs. I have talked to the media teacher at college who I am hiring the slider from and I have asked to hire it from the 19th. However, I think it is best to use the slider as soon as possible as to get this section out of the way and give it back to him as quickly as I can. I need to constantly check the weather for the up and coming filming days to make sure that we film on the days that are sunny as this is ideal for my lookbook. When organising the video I had to consider the weather. As my video has a summer theme, the weather needs to be nice to portray this. So when I was talking to my cameraman I was also looking at the weather to make sure that it was sunny on the days of filming. I looked at many different websites to try and get an average of the days. As I had budgeted for enough filming days, it meant that on the days that the weather was too bad to film, it wouldn't affect my final piece. I could do other work such as more research and preparation for the editing on these days.

When looking for locations I straight away thought about the field, which is a five-minute, walk from my house. It’s very accessible and easy to get to, as it’s not far this means I won't waste anytime having to get to it. I decided to go to the field to check it out and make sure that it’s appropriate. When I went there were buttercups and dandelions covering the grass, which made the field, look summery. There are also trees and benches, which can be used to make the shots look more interesting. However, I know that this field often has cows on the field. So me and my cameraman need to organise our time and make sure that we go on a day where there isn't any cows as this can be distracting and would look odd on my video. I would have to watch out for any mud and cow faeces on the ground as this could ruin an outfit. I also know that a lot of people on their own or with dogs go for walks there. We would need to pick a day and time that wouldn't be so busy as someone walking in the background could ruin a shot. Apart from these small issues, I think this location is perfect for my video. It’s very convenient and on a sunny day the field would fit my videos theme and style perfectly and will compliment the outfits.
I also thought of another interesting location, which is an old telephone box in a village called Oulton, which is about a thirty-minute walk. I felt like this could be interesting when it’s sunny as the box will be a nice bright red on the video. I could also scenes of me in the box on the phone. So I decided to go and check it out. Unfortunately when I went I realised that it doesn’t have a phone in it anymore, instead there is information about the village. I think it would look strange there were shots of me in the telephone box with information on the walls of it behind me. It would still look nice to stand next to in an outfit but it’s quite a far walk for one shot. I will still consider this location if something goes wrong with another option and I need a backup location.
For one my ideas for locations I chose the tennis club courts in Stone. I felt like this would be an interesting location paired with sunny weather, as the light will reflect the blue of the courts. The brightness of the location can be related to summer and also having fun. So I rang up the club and told them what I was doing for my project. I asked if I could use their courts as my location and asked for their permission. They agreed and said the best time to film would be in the weekday as it’ll be very quiet. I was really happy about this as court at night will be busy and I didn't want any nighttime shots in my video. I will go to the courts next week to film shots for my lookbook. I will credit the company at the end of the video.
Another location I am considering is the park near to my house. This park has lots of nature such as grass and many types of flowers. It also has a bowels field, tennis courts, birds in cages and a play area. I think this location will be good because there are lots of places to walk around and film. Such as, the different types of flowers arranged nicely could make for some good shots. Also areas such as the birdcages and the play area could show the fun sides to the videos theme and links to my playful clothing style. The tennis courts could also be used as a backup plan if the tennis club location doesn’t work out. A problem with this location however, if that there is often a lot of parents with small children there. There are often people there at anytime of the day, any day of the week so it will be quite hard to go there when it’s quiet and empty. Also filming around a park can be quite evasive and strange to parents.
I have another idea for a location, which is near my house. This is past the field location, which I’m considering in woods. So it is surrounded by nature, which will fit my lookbooks theme. A lot of nice shots could happen here such as, the sunlight through the tree branches, flowers and walking around paths. As this place is easily accessible, it relates to my theme and is free. I think this location is good as there are lots of different shots that could be taken here. I would have to be careful when walking, as there are lots of uneven paths and slippy surfaces. I would also have to avoid people walking with their dogs as they are often there and they could ruin the shot. Apart from these small problems I would really like to use this location.
Finally, my last location that I am considering is the canal in Stone. This is about a thirteen-minute walk from my house so it’s very easy to get to and not far away. I think there could be some interesting shots here such as, of the water and by it. I think this would create a range of different shots so they wouldn't all be nature but also shots of water away. There are also locks and bridges along the canal, which could be interesting to pose on. The canal barges could create nice shots as they have a lot of bright colours and details on them. I will consider this location and use it if I have time as I already have quite a lot of locations to use.

For the hair styles for my video I referred back to my original mood board and my hair specific mood board for ideas. I then wrote down a list of ideas that I could use. Inspired by my research of Lolita, I knew I wanted to involve plaits somehow into the looks. I straight away felt like the tennis skirt outfit would be the most appropriate as it’s the sportiest. I think having my hair down for this outfit would look quite odd and won’t flow well. So I think two plaits would look the best. I decided to research plait styles and wanted to learnt some techniques as I don't know many. I found a tutorial on Youtube by the Youtuber ClothesEncounters which showed me how to create easy plaits staring from your parting. I practised these and I really liked the way they looked and found them easy to do so I will definitely be creating these in my final piece. For the outfit involving the mum jeans and the jacket, I felt like this has quite an 80s feel to it. I decided to Google ‘80s hair’ to see some styles that were created back then. I found that the half up, half down style was very popular then with a big bow or scrunchy. So for this look I will recreate this style as it will suit the outfit well. For the babydoll dress outfit, I feel like this is the childish looking. As children aren't very good at doing their hair in different styles, I think I’ll just simply leave my hair down. I will scrape back my fringe using a headband as they are popular for children. This will link the whole outfit together and will create a very young and immature style. Finally, for the white dress as my shoulder will be out I think I should have my hair down as it will blow in the wind and look very free. I think I will simply pin my fringe back with bobby pins and I will also pin a few more strands of hair to create a princess look. I will make sure to paint my nails on the days of shooting. For the white dress I’ll use a pale pink colour, for the blue outfit a light blue colour, for the purple outfit a purple colour and for the babydoll outfit a different pink colour. I think this will pull all of the outfits together and make them look complete and professional.

Now that I had chosen my final outfits for my video, I have to think about makeup, hair and nail choices to go with these outfits. I looked at my moodboards and research and began to create design using a face template. I used makeup that I own and wrote down the name of the makeup so I can refer back to them when experimenting and recreating the looks. Unfortunately the eyeshadow didn’t work very well on paper but as I wrote down the makeup names I could tell what it was.
For the first look I wanted to create a golden shimmery look inspired by my makeup moodboard. I added a gold sparkly eye shadow to the middle of the eyelid and then a brown in the corner to add a smokey effect. I chose to only use mascara and a light line of eyeliner. I paired this with a red lip colour. I really like this look as it’s smoky but I also think it’s quite dark and won't compliment the pastel colours I’ll be using.
In my next look I wanted to channel a very feminine look with lots of pinks. So I decided to create an ombre effect from dark pink to light pink and then to white across the eye. I added winged eyeliner and a pinky-red coloured lipstick. I really like this eyeshadow look but I don’t think I like it with this lip colour. I’m going to keep experimenting with pink eyeshadow as I think it looks very girly and will link to my lookbook.
For my third look, I again was inspired by my main moodboard imagery. I combined gold, pink and brown eyeshadow together with winged eyeliner and a browny lipstick. I think this lipstick works well as the brown from the eyeshadow links with it. I really like the look of the winged eyeliner as it contrasts well with the pink.
I decided to experiment more with a brown eyeshadow combined with a lighter colour to add femininity to the look. So I added a peachy pink to the outer corners of the eyes. I also wanted to experiment with a light gold glitter underneath the eye to make the colours stand out more. I paired this with a winged eyeliner and red lips. I’m not sure how I feel about the brown and the peach colours together, however, I really like the look of the glitter underneath the eye as it adds a lot of shimmer and sparkle to the look.
I wanted to experiment more with pink eyeshadow colours, so combined different shades of pink such as a brick colour to the outer corner, dark pink, pink glitter in the middle of the eyelid and a lighter pink in the inner corner. I really liked the glitter underneath the eye so I tried this, this time with a pink glitter. I really like the look of these colours, however, it would take a lot of blending on the day of shooting to make this look work well. I added a pinky-brown colour lip colour to the look. I like this colour as it can work well with a lot of different colours.
For this look I wanted to combine the colour pink but more simpler and less dramatic than last time. I covered the majority of the eyelid in gold shimmer combined with a bit of pink, I also added this under the eye slightly. I the added some brown in the outer colour to neutralise it. This is combined with a thin eyeliner and a matte pinky-red lip colour. I really like this look as it’s feminine with the slight pinks and it’s also bold with the brown and black eyeliner. I really like this colour of lipstick as it links well to the slight pink in the eyes. I would like to use this look in my final piece as it’s incorporates the pink less obviously so all of my makeup looks won't look the same.
My next makeup look was inspired by my research of Electra Heart. This look was very simple, the eyeshadow is just a pink colour which matches the blush on the cheeks and a paler pink lipgloss. This look is very feminine on it’s own and to make pop more around the eyes I would add bold winged eyeliner and false eye lashes above and below the eye. I really like this look as it’s simple so it wouldn't take a lot of time and it’s also fun and doll-like with the bottom eyelashes.
I wanted to combine my designs with the bottom false eyelashes and pink eyeshadow together that I had previously created so it’s more wearable for my looks. I have combined a light pink eyeshadow and blended it with a darker pink eyeshadow in the outer corner of the eye. With this I’ve added winged eyeliner, but not too heavy, and the bottom eyelashes. This was all paired with a red lipstick with pink undertones to complement the pink eyeshadow. really like this look as it’s simple but it also has definition to it. I think the doll-like eyelashes link to the feminine look and colours. I definitely want to recreate this with an outfit such as the babydoll dress outfit for my final piece.
As I’ve learnt that I like the look to two shaded eyeshadow looks the most and prefer them as they easier to recreate on the day of shooting, I’ve decided to create more of these. I combined a completely gold colour with a darker brown than usual to create a more smokey eye look. To contrast this, I was inspired by my research of Electra Heart and the heart shape she draws on her cheek. I wanted to create my own version of this by cutting out a small piece of paper into a heart shape and using blusher around it. I think this is really cute but it was very hard to do and blusher might look odd so high up on the cheek. So I’m not going to use this technique but I may work on it more. I have paired this look with a dark lip colour and winged eyeliner. Overall, I think this look is too dark for a pastel summer and so I won't use this look.
Reflecting back on my outfit choices, I’ve realised that not all of my outfits will suit pink, red or brown eyeshadow shades. Such as, one of my outfits is predominantly blue. So I did some quick research on Google.com for inspiration by googling ‘blue eyeshadow’. I found a look that I really liked and I could recreate with my own colours. I used a shimmery teal colour in the middle of the eyelid and a darker blue in the outer corner. I also used that same blue to create a smokey eyeliner lightly. I added a dark purple lipstick and I tried to recreate Electra Heart’s heart shape on her cheek. I think this is too similar to her style and I should be more original with it if I was to recreate it. I really like the blue colours together but I don't really like the dark eyeliner as I think it's too heavy. I also think the lipstick colour is very dark as well for a pastel lookbook.
I added a shimmery teal coloured eyeshadow to the middle of the eyelid and I blended this with a brown in the outer corner of the eye. I also added the same blue underneath the eye. I really liked how the brown helps the blue stand out. I’m glad that the colours suit my eye colour as well. I’ve paired this with a thin eyeliner without the wing and a browny-nude coloured lipstick to not distract away from eh bright eye colour. I really like this look a lot as the colours work well with the outfit and the look is very simple. I will definitely recreate this look for my final piece.
As one of my outfits features a purple colour, I decided to target this in my makeup look as to not make them all look the same. I decided to use a slightly shimmer dark purple colour for the eyelid which I blended with a darker purple colour. Unfortunately this didn't transfer well on the paper and they turned out very dark which isn't their actual colours. As these colours are already so dark I didn't want to add any eyeliner but I instead added false eyelashes and a dark plum lipstick. I like this look, however, I don’t think it’s appropriate for my lookbook as my theme is pastel. Next time I will make sure to find a lighter purple colour and a lighter lipstick as to not make the look too dark that it's unsuitable.
For this look, II used a shimmery purple colour on the eyelid and added a brown colour to define. I decided to not use any eyeliner in this look or if so very little eyeliner as I think false eyelashes would really make this look stand out and eyeliner would be to garish. As to not distract away from the eye colour, I chose a nude coloured lipstick. I really like this lip colour as I have used false eyelashes yet on any of my looks. I think the false eyelashes compliments the look as the purple a still stands out on the eyelid. I definitely want to use this look in my final piece video with the purple graphic tee.
