Her pink hues warmly studied his features. It appeared to her that she had guessed his thoughts once more. For her, it was merely a coincidence, or perhaps she had learned to distinguish between people's expressions. '' You have a certain look in your eye when you do. I have seen it before, too. '' Her voice was soft and calm; a small smile tugged at the corner of her lips. She gently took one of his hands into hers, without asking for his permission, and squeezed it lightly. Again, she let silence interfere between them as she stood near him, rarely turning her gaze around to take in the green landscape full of flowers.

Shelly shook her head; her pink eyes were lowered and a bit swollen. She forgot to mention that she had also wept half of the night. '' Can you... just listen to me, Kevin? '' The lady took his hand once more into hers and squeezed it tightly. '' I had a terrible dream about Sharon being left alone... crying all day with no one by her side. In my dream, mother and Xerxes were nowhere to be found. She was locked in a dark room and she kept calling my name. But I was just a ghost and could not embrace her and calm her down. All I could do was stare.'' Some tears crossed her cheeks as she finished her sentence.

duchesssharonrainsworth:
At one time, Sharon had believed that she would never regret becoming a contractor. True, she didn’t regret the act itself. However, every time blood covered her hands, a part of her wondered if it was truly worth it. She had done it because she wanted to stay by Xerx’s side, but the closer she got to his position the more he seemed to pull away.
Her lip wobbled as her forehead was kissed and she unconsciously swayed their hands back and forth like she would have when they were kids. “Xerx-nii won’t let me stay by him, no matter what I do. Mother, was this really all worth it? Becoming a murderer, no matter the intentions…I just wanted to stay by his side. But he won’t even acknowledge me.” She bowed her head, the tears welling up in her eyes finally finding their way down her face. “…I’m tired of trying.”
Shelly felt her heart sinking at the sight of her dear daughter crying in front of her. For a moment, she was about to cry herself because she was aware of the fact that the path Sharon had chosen had brought her only pain.
Leaning forward, she embraced her petite silhouette and gently caressed her hair.
" My dear... " She whispered with a tone filled with concern and continued comforting her with her touches.
"... you could have not guessed the outcome of this decision. Would you like to release yourself from this burden and step away from Xerxes? It will be painful, I know, but once you are free, you could be happier."

She puffed her cheeks just like a little girl and glanced at him unamused. '' It was supposed to be a cake called ''Divinity Fudge''!'' A sigh left her lips as she placed down the bowl with the destroyed dough. It wasn't looking at all how it was supposed to! Maybe she had missed some of the ingredients and had decided to improvise, but she had never thought the result would be this one.
'' How am I gonna explain this to Sharon? '' Her shoulders drooped visibly. '' And how excited she was...'' Suddenly, an idea struck her. '' Xerxes, do you know how to cook?'' After that question, she approached him with hope in her pink hues.

“I am sure that I’ll have time to help you, Mother. Please allow me too. Or Liam-san.” She insisted, hesitating a moment before reaching across the table and gently grasping Shelly’s pale hand in her own. Though Rainsworth women were generally born with a fair countenance, Shelly’s had always been so much more noticeable to Sharon.
“–I am a member of this household as well…it is only fair that all members share responsibility equally among us.”
Shelly's eyes grow wide at her daughter's words, a warm smile gracing on her lips as she grasps the meaning behind them. To have Sharon by her side is all she ever wished for.
" I appreciate your help, my dear. But please do not overwork yourself, alright? I would love you had some time to spend with your husband as well. Do give him my best regards when you see him!"

“I said you needed improvement. Don’t put words in my mouth.” Sighing, Xerxes leant back on the sofa and crossed his arms over his chest, choosing to watch whatever was happening on the tv screen. He had the impression the woman gave him bad intentions - an impression which only grew stronger as she tried to defend Sharon.
As soon as the game switched to CGI, however, all seemed forgotten and Shelly looked lost to the story.
“Really? Did you get to the end already?”
Shelly was quiet for a moment, her gaze following the scenes from the screen. She felt something itching behind her eyelids as the character she had grown attached to faded away. Then the mourning of their lover followed and she couldn’t keep it anymore; tears began streaming down her cheeks, proving the fact that she was still such a hopeless romantic.
“ He was such a wonderful man…” She uttered, finding it hard to hide the emotions inside her tone. The woman didn’t wish to turn to face the albino like this. Wasn’t she supposed to be a grown up lady?

“Weren’t you the one saying that I suck at that game last time you saw me playing? I can’t forget that easily!” Shelly rolled her eyes at him before returning her focus to the screen, to witness an animated scene full of sad music and feels.
“ Yes, but that doesn’t mean that she can’t like techno! She dances on it very often each time I pla- Oh no! The main character might die! ”

“Me? Knowledgable? Please.” Xerxes liked to play single player games once in a while, but that was it; he was embarrassingly bad at multiplayer games and didn’t have time to get any better. (Let’s not talk about the time Gilbert destroyed him in a game of Smash).
“Still. I never thought Sharon would like techno. Classical seems to suit her better, don’t you think?”

Shelly tightly embraced him, her hand gently caressing his long hair. She understood his feelings and was perfectly aware that he needed to let them out in order to feel better afterward. But she worried that he might never be able to find his calm again, all because of the people from their society. Sadness appeared in her eyes as she let the anxiety crawl inside her chest. She did hope he would not see her like this.
“ I am sure Miss Emily knows about your struggle and she would never let you face it alone. I will do my best, too.”

It was hard for her to understand what was going on. The tea had never tasted so bitter and her strength had never left her so early right after taking her medicine. The room was already starting to go round and round, dizzying her with its movements. It was wiser to return to her bed at once and to rest.
After Break started carrying her, she leaned her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes. A small smile crossed her lips as to assure him that she was going to be alright. She wanted to believe it herself.
“ Could you return me to my room and tell Sharon that I apologize, but we cannot hold the picnic today? I know how excited she is regarding it-” Her whispered requests were interrupted by a fit of coughing. She covered her mouth with her hand and the blood painted her white skin.

Shelly placed her hand on Sharon’s, trying her best to gather some air within her lungs. All that running had left her breathless and she could not think clearly in this state. Maybe they were not safe after all. Perhaps her instincts had failed her for once. What it mattered at the moment was that her daughter was by her side and that they were alive.
Shelly leaned down on her knees, the power in her legs leaving her completely. Her chest was burning and she hoped that she would not become a burden to Sharon in this situation.
“ If he returns, please go ahead without me.”
Shelly proposed with her gaze traveling to the duchess’s countenance.

Shelly also takes a sip from her tea as she absorbs Sharon’s words and proceeds to answer to the inquiry with her usual calmness:
“ I am glad to hear that. I am good as well. Thankfully, the medicine seems to keep the illness away for the moment. But I am afraid I cannot complete paperwork as I used to in the past.”

@gentletouchofsunlight has been intruded
♞▐░▒ He did nothing, but lean against the tallest tree in the garden of the Rainsworth Estate, watching Lady Shelly and her young daughter, Sharon play in the garden. Despite his expression being full of suspicion, the former knight still wondered, why did the Rainsworth women decided to treat him like the utmost important guest rather than some renegade who should be chased away? These were the only thoughts running to his mind as the little rays of sunshine seep through the leaves of the tree, gently hitting his half-bandaged face.
All this time their special guest stood alone under the tree, Shelly and Sharon picked up flowers, talked about fairy tales and made flower crowns for each other. That sunny day was fitted for such small pleasures and the woman wanted some change in her routine, too.
Soon though, an idea popped up into her mind and she started toward the lonely man with something hidden behind her back. The smile from her lips betrayed her future actions. She playfully, with the innocence of a child, set a crown on his head and giggled.
"Come and join us, little pouter!"

For a brief moment, Shelly’s usually bright features faded away and on her lips, an understanding smile appeared. She gently placed her hand on her daughter’s shoulder and patted it.
“ It is not easy my dear. But one must try in order for their road to become easier. It had taken me years to reach this conclusion and even now I might have some regrets left.“
She paused and placed a kiss on Sharon’s forehead as she did when she was just a little girl in love with knights and fairy tales. It saddened her how years could change a person and take their innocence away.
” All I can tell you" Shelly took the duchess’s hand into hers and squeezed it tightly, “ is that a change of mind is needed. Be careful with what you think of yourself and what kind of image you have created in your mind. At the end of the day, it is important to be grateful for what you have at the moment. I do believe wonderful things are on your way.”

At his statement, she offered a cheerful smile. Shelly took his hands into hers and squeezed them tightly, trying to assure him of the truth behind her words.
“ You are too hard on yourself, my dear. If anything shall appear, I will be here to support you.”
She leaned closer to him and kissed his lips for a moment.

14: Brushing hair out of mine’s face
Shelly widened her fuchsia eyes at the sudden touch of the man, a gentle smile gracing upon her lips as she realized his intentions. As she stood there under the tree with him, she watched over her daughter playing with Reim through the garden. Earlier, she had attempted to join in their chasing, but her weak body did not allow her the pleasure to continue such an activity and to enjoy herself further. By the time, she sat down near Xerxes, her hair was ruffled but she appeared to pay it no heed. That was till now.
“ Thank you, my dear!”

❁ - Give mine a bouquet of flowers
Shelly was quite taken aback by the gift the albino had just offered her, but she showed her appreciation through a kiss on his cheek, followed by a playful poke of his nose.
“ I am glad you remembered that these were my favourites! It is wonderful to receive them from time to time! “
