It happened in a flash, really. 

One minute everything was calm and the next Amelie was screaming, slamming into people and knocking them over, trying to claw out their eyes and yelling at the top of her lungs in French. 

Genji stood up, lifting her into his arms, clamping her own to her sides with his grip before bringing her from the room and away from the crowd. He growled at anyone who strayed too close, locking the door to a training room behind him before settling her down and looking into her eyes. 

“Widow,” he said softly, “it’s alright. You’re okay.”

She looked at him as though he wasn’t there, eyes wide and almost frightened, her hands coming to his face. 

“Gerard?” she asked, fingertips shaking as she tugged at his mask, removing it and almost sobbing at the sight of him. “What happened to you?”

Genji took her hands gently, squeezing. 

“Someone I love hurt me,” he said softly, a quiet reminder, “but we can walk a better path.” 

Amelie just sobbed in his arms, crawling forward and nuzzling under his chin. Genji just held her close, petting her back, sitting in the silence.

Amelie probably thinks he goes too fast. Hugging headcanonGenji is a firm hugger, he loves to give long, touch starved hugs and nuzzle people as well. Since Amelie is taller, this can sometimes lead to the hug being a bit awkward. Sex headcanonThey don’t have sex right away in the redemption verse. Genji wants Amelie to be sure it’s what she wants. Overall: Genji thinks Amelie can be helped, he wants to see her improve and become a better person. He feels that she shares a lot with Hanzo in this regard: most of this wasn’t her fault. She never asked for it. And he wants to see if she can be helped how he was helped.
