How You Meet

Every Friday night Tessa and her friends group get together to play poker. The games usually take place at one of the boy's house, but tonight they chose Tessa's house. Tessa had been your best friend since grade 6, since the passing of your sister, the tragedy seemed to grow you two bind stronger. You sit in your newly lonesome apartment, hunger and boredom begin to take over. Looking around you feel the sorrow all coming back as you glance at a picture of the love of your life for the past 4 years, Lucas. Lucas passed about a month ago, gunshot wound by a stray bullet, Lucas happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. You were still getting used to being single again, luckily before Lucas passed you two had found out you were expecting, so you weren't totally alone. You rub your belly trying to think of something to do to occupy yourself, you knew Tessa was busy since it was Friday so you didn't want to bug her. Just as you went to run a bath your phone buzzes twice, it's Tessa.

Tess 💜: Hey.

Tess 💜: Water you doin'? lol

Me: Haha, nothin' much, trying to occupy myself. I thought you had poker tonight.

Tess 💜: Yeah, still in the middle of the game. but anyway we're at my house tonight, would you wanna come over and not be lonely??

I took a moment to reply, I didn't want to intrude, however my loneliness was developing, ah what the hell.

Me: Sure, I'll be over in a minute let me pee first. 👍

Tess 💜: alright sounds good, I'll see ya in a bit, love you❤

Me: I love you too❤

•About 30 minutes later•

*knock knock*

I open the door and let out a sigh as I feel the cool air hit my skin.

"Tess?"

"We're in the dining room!"

Tessa gets up to greet and hug me as o enter the room

"Hey baby! how are you?"

"I'm good, thanks. kinda glad to not have to be at home alone anymore", I say with a semi-joking smile.

"Well here, I don't think you've ever met the guys, but here. This is Miles, Travis, Alma, Will, and former boy band members Louis, Liam, and joining tonight's game is Harry."

"Hello", they all say in unison

"Hi, there", I say shyly smiling and raising a hand to wave.

"Guys, this is my sister, Emillia..and this is her bun in the oven", she jokes.

"oh my gosh, stop it!"

everyone seemed to find her banter funny, I did as well so I laughed then gave her a 'you better quit playin' look.

"is it a boy or girl?" a soft voice said with a small accent

I looked in Harry's direction, " actually, I'm only at right about five months, I go to find out the sex on Monday."

"ooooh. that's exciting. are you ready?"

"Haha yes, I am very excited, it's gonna be a lil tough doing it alone, but I'm really looking forward to being a mommy."

Harry asks why I would be raising the child alone, so I explain what happened to Lucas. Everyone seemed to be understanding and supportive of the situation. As the night came to an end I me and made some new friends, which was awesome, because you can never have too many people in your life.
