When art becomes a commodity to be consumed, people assume they can get it on demand.
So like, the thing I find particularly wild about people running to chatgpt to write their essays or their stories is I can't understand why you'd trust a shitty algorithm to think for you if you wouldn't trust a random stranger on the street to do that.
But then I got an ask on an old fandom sideblog that made me remember that… yes, actually, plenty of people WOULD ask a random person on the street to create their vision for them.
Because if you own a fandom blog long enough, people do literally this exact thing. They send you extremely specific and detailed prompts for the fanfic they want to exist but don't want to write themselves.
This specific ask not only wanted me to take their convoluted scenario and hammer it into a story that makes sense, but they wanted me to invent a whole-ass OC for them as part of it.
And like, I don't know what your OC is? Why would I? If you want an OC, surely creating the OC yourself is the fun of having an OC? I can't tell you what kind of character you would find cool and interesting, only you can decide that. Go play with picrew or something, try out eye colors, look at baby name lists and say some out loud. Why should the joy and burden of making meaningful decisions about your character come from someone else's brain?
It's an old joke that anybody who says they're a writer immediately hears "I have an idea for a novel." Lots of people have lots of ideas, sometimes really particular ideas, that they want written down but they don't want to write them. More than that, they don't even want to sit with those ideas and workshop them or make any decisions about them like what they would name that character in that story they'll never write.
And I don't know where I'm going with this but guess it's just that I don't think people like that will go away and I don't think they find it very compelling to hear "you should write it yourself instead of asking chatgpt" because if they weren't asking chatgpt to write it they would be asking complete strangers to write it because they do that. All the time.

SM Ficchaters back at it! I got prompted by @antivanruffles
Prompt: Past Lives Fic Details: Sen/Shi. Meant to be Rei/Jadeite but it can work for just about anyone. This is basically unedited flash fic
She doesn’t remember loving him, that much is clear. More important, she remembers hating him. It’s more recent, that hate; more vibrant. That vibrancy, from the beginning, was his undoing. She was attracted to it like the proverbial moth to flame; like heat to the body; like war to the hearts of men.
Their hatred stretched as far back as their love. It entwined them, just the same. If he could not have her love in this life, he would have her hate. Once, that thought would have been enough. It would have sustained him through the cycle, until this wretched mortal turn was done and once again he would sink into the abysmal peace of forgetfulness… until her vibrancy again shown upon the horizon.
But there? That was the trick of it. The cycle had broken, their dance fractured. He had been cast from the wheel entirely, even as she was resigned to it again, and again, and again. Though her memories of her the time before were returned, each was less complete than the last.
He watched her forget the details. She knew that she hated him. She did not remember why, just as she did not remember the lives before, the lives where love out shown the hate. They all forgot, in fact, though it was her loss which troubled him most.
Standing before her now, knowing that the wheel has been broken once and for all; knowing that they will never begin anew, never start fresh, never have a chance to write those wrongs they each committed…
He clings to the vibrancy of her hatred. It may be all he’ll ever know of her again, but if that’s all that is left to him… he’ll accept it.

Makoto doodle.
I really feel like I should draw her as the brick house she is more often, It’s like we all have gotten to know her sweet, feminine self, but keep forgetting that to a lot of people outside the scouts, Makoto is a scary woman. She’s built like Wonder Woman, taller than most, and can throw a man twice her size like it’s nothing. Without transforming. That’s intimidating.
…. I kind of want to draw her with Kronk. (Emperor’s New Groove). I mean, he can even talk to forest creatures.
