Art advice question! I’ve been trying to practice drawing faces from more angles, but the profile or a 3/4 from the back is what kills me! I always have trouble with the mouth in those, Idk what it is, even if I try and draw in a super simplified way and only do a line it sill somehow manages to look wrong... any tips?
I don’t know how to help you when I can’t see your drawings. Maybe this can be useful:
As I said, it’s hard to fix something when you don’t even see it. Use references, draw from life, it’s the best was to understand and learn things.

hey! can i please get good references of like, simplifications of leg muscles and i guess legs in general? probably the pelvis too, the lower body is just killing me right now. (i mean in art, my own legs are fine =P)
No problem, anon! Here are some notes on legs that I’ve picked up, but there are probably some more thorough ones (with actual muscle names lol) floating around the web if you want to check those out as well. Just remember to balance curve/straight on either side.
***EDIT: The stick figure thing is called “crickets” by the creator because they look like cricket legs. I just remembered that.***
Here are some of my favorite guides to muscle simplifications by Will Weston and Sycra Yasin:

And for good measure, here’s some refresher on more gestural ways of looking at limbs:

I’ve received a few of these messages over the past couple of months and they’ve motivated me to sit my ass down and make some sort of tutorial on how to draw lips. I’m not an expert, but I hope it’s helpful, and if it’s not, then at least you’ll know how I personally do it:

You wait a moment, Doctor. Let’s get it right. I’ve got a few things to say to you. Basic stuff first. Never be cruel, never be cowardly, and never, ever eat pears! Remember, hate is always foolish. and love is always wise. Always try to be nice, but never fail to be kind. Oh, and you mustn’t tell anyone your name. No one would understand it, anyway.

My parents HATE overwatch because it takes up our entire wifi whenever my brother goes online and when I bought myself the new Zelda my mom was like “can I watch Netflix? or are you playing” and I was like no, no don’t worry it doesn’t take up internet. and she was so relieved and started walking towards the TV in her room and I was like “you want to watch it out here? I can switch to the handheld mode” and she was so impressed that she could watch Master Chef next to me while I played my game. Nintendo is truly the family system.

Do you know of posts/links that show how to do the colored transparent images? I want to make something like it for keefs birthday but idk how :(( I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR ART BTW 💞💞💞
Sorry I took a little while to get back to you on this! I decided to try making a whole new attempt at art to try and explain making colored transparent images, but I find it’s harder to do than expected! I’ll try my best, but sorry if it’s a bit confusing!
This is helpful to read first to understand the basic concepts behind transparent arts!
This is the image I’ll use as an example. I tried to make it so it looks like there is half existing in day and half existing at night!
I tried to see if it was possible to make them with color as well! An obstacle with colored transparents is that if you draw white over any color, it automatically becomes visible. I’ll show you here: This is what this image of a night sky looks like with a black background. (When you click)
If I have a white background behind it (before you click) you can see faint outlines of the stars and moon.
I don’t want those visible, because it ruins the ‘surprise’ to me? So what I end up doing is coloring over them, using the eyedropper tool and clipping the layer, so the colors match!
This is what it looks like now!
This is basically what I do in order to make a colored transparent still work!
This image below shows the areas that are transparent in this image! (the checkered area). I drew the whole solid image first, then used a combination of layer masks to alter its opacity and drew white underneath that layer to create the illusion of light!
I hope this makes a little bit of sense! Sorry it’s a bit difficult to explain, but you can ask me if you have any more questions or need things clarified!
