“I did give them a notice but they’re both trying to convince me to stay. The I have contracts with the Chief and the university don’t run out for another year so I’m just figuring out what would be the best option for me. If I did take the job with my father, I would only be able to focus on my surgeries and my research. But I do enjoy teaching Physiology at UW as well and I won’t be able to do that in New York. There are no teaching positions open at NYU or Columbia at the moment and even if there were, it’s really competitive to get a job at either of them.” He explained. Of course, there were advantages and disadvantages to working in New York and Azhar was definitely considering them. All he wanted was for Georgia to tell him to stay but he figured that she wouldn’t do that. She didn’t feel anything for him, right? At least that’s what he’d thought.
“i mean you might as well be their favorite in the hospital, so they wouldn’t want you to leave.” she replied with a soft chuckle as she brought her hand up to the side of her neck, lightly rubbing it a little. she wasn’t sure what she was doing, but she didn’t know what to do. how was she to tell him that she was in love with him after the moments they had spent together, well more so just talking to one another in passing, but stolen glances from her when he wasn’t looking or paying attention to her. the moments where she would get jealous any time she would look over at the nurses station to see a few other female nurses flirting their way to his heart. she lets out a soft breath & listens to him speak as to what was in store for him if he were to take the job in new york. finally she couldn’t hold it in anymore. she closes her eyes for a second before opening them again, “azhar ....” she starts off walking toward him. “don’t leave.” she finally says before stopping in front of him, “i ... i don’t want you to go. but i don’t want to be selfish either, but i don’t want you to leave. i want you to stay.” she pauses & takes a deep breath, “i’m in love with you, azhar ... i don’t know why it’s taken me this long to finally admit it. okay i don’t know why i said no to you, i wasn’t busy ... i guess i just didn’t think you would actually fall for me, the way i fell for you.” she adds before shaking her head, “i get jealous when i see other nurses talking to you, i get sad when you don’t look my way. don’t leave, i don’t want you to, please stay, i’m sorry it’s taken me this long to say it, to tell you how i feel. i know now probably isn’t the right time, but don’t leave, okay ? i know it took me forever to realize my feelings, or more so i was afraid to express them because i just never thought i’d fall for someone who used to teach me, & who i work with now. i think about you a lot, in a non creepy way of course ... i know you probably already made your decision, but just ...” she pauses again walking more to him to where she’s now in front of him, “stay.” she whispers softly looking up at him.

Mason sipped his tea as Georgia knocked on his door. “I did.” He stated as he looked up at his sister, his faint Southern accent rolling off his tongue as he spoke. “You got a few minutes to spare? There’s somethin’ I gotta talk to you about.” Setting down his mug, he leaned back in his chair. He knew that the smile on her face wasn’t a real one. He was used to being able to see right through her facade. He always did. “Why don’t you get in here, sit down and tell me, sugar, what’s actually goin’ on with you and that Khan kid?”
He really cut to the chase with that one, hadn’t he? He sighed. “You know he’s leavin’, right? What even happened? I could’ve sworn that you were into him and the way he stares at you, I know he’s into you too. I thought you two were gettin’ together. What happened between you two? And why’s he leavin’ the city all of a sudden?” He asked her. “Gigi… what’s goin’ on?”
Mason knew how it felt to love someone and lose them in a moment, thanks to his failed marriage and recently finalized divorce. It wasn’t easy to have someone who means so much to you walk out of your life in an instant and he did not want his sister to go through that pain. “Gigi… talk to me, little bug.”
as georgia entered her brother’s off, she closed the door & was soon hit with so many questions. she makes a face at him as she tries to process what he’s asking. at the mention of azhar leaving & what’s going on between then, georgia sighs. she stands there waiting for him to finish with her arms over her chest. “okay twenty questions.” she commented before taking a seat at his desk & looking up at him. “first of all, you are one very nosy brother.” she adds before shaking her head, but also staying quiet for a second. “i don’t even know.” she comments before looking up at her brother. “i don’t know what’s going on. i had to turn him down for coffee because i was just so busy, & now he’s suddenly leaving.” georgia leans back against the chair before shaking her head a little. “i just don’t know what to do. i don’t want to be selfish & tell him to stay when he could be doing this job with his father.” georgia bites on her lower lip & tilts her head back. “i don’t know what to do.” she lifts her head back up & looks at mason, “& why are you all up in my business all of the sudden ?”

There was a reason why Azhar had asked her out in the first place. But for the first time in his life, he had felt stupid for even thinking that she liked him. No one else did. He was used to it. But it killed him to think that perhaps Georgia did not like him either, as she did not give him an answer. All the while, he was still in love with her. He wanted to leave Seattle if he wanted to move on from her, even though a part of him did not want to leave. “Yeah, I… don’t know when I’d be leaving yet. But… I gave my one month notice to the Chief and to the Dean at the University of Washington.”
the reason why she had turned him down for coffee at the time was because she was just super busy & didn’t have time to really go out to get coffee with him. she had told him that reason, but maybe he didn’t believe it, & just left it on that. georgia had liked him for quite sometime now, maybe since the first time she laid eyes on him at school, then was super surprised when she saw him at the hospital where they now work together. well at least for now until he ends up leaving. biting at her lower lip, she nods her head again listening to his words. “oh ... that’s great ... so they know you’re leaving then ?” she wasn’t sure how to go about this or if her feelings should just come out right now before he ends up leaving her for good.

The news of Azhar Khan’s one month notice was starting to spread throughout the hospital like wildfire. With the Chief trying to convince him to stay and the latter refusing to explain the real reason why he wanted to leave SGMW in the first place, Mason understood very well why he might have made this decision. He had known for a while now that the so-called genius had a thing for his sister and that Georgia also had feelings for him. But what had happened between the two of them was unbeknownst to him. Perhaps that was why Mason had taken it upon himself to find out what was actually going on between Azhar and Georgia. As much as everyone at the hospital hated Azhar for his snobby attitude, Mason saw a lot of potential in the younger doctor, hence he was worried about Georgia.
Having paged his sister over to his office, he sat at his desk. He had opted not to wear his pink scrubs that day, his black dress pants and blue button down shirt giving him a much more sophisticated look. He knew the younger nurses and interns went crazy when he dressed up. You could say he enjoyed it sometimes. As it was his day off and he was not on call. He was not expecting to deliver any babies. The reason why he was at the hospital in the first place was to catch up on some emails and charts. But when he’d received news that Azhar was leaving, he knew he had to speak to Georgia right away. Stepping away from his emails for a moment, he had made himself a cup of tea as he waited for his sister.
after hearing that azhar had put his month resignation in, she didn’t know how to feel. she had caught feelings for him, but wasn’t sure if he felt the same way. in all honesty, she didn’t want to hold him back on a good offer from his father & she didn’t want to be that girl to be selfish & tell him to stay for her. while she was doing her rounds, & checking on her patients, she had a smile on her face, but an ache in her heart. she was sad, but didn’t want to show it. as she left one of her patients room, she heard her pager go off & looked down to see that her brother had paged her. eyebrows raised, she was confused as to why he was at work when he was supposed to be off. walking down the hall, she made her way through the hospital to her brother’s office. knocking three times, she opened the door, “uh you paged me ?” she questioned while stepping into his office.

“Yeah, New York… home.” He told her, sighing. Did he really want her to know that she was kind of the reason why he was even considering to leave Seattle? Probably not. But Azhar couldn’t get himself to admit that he had fallen in love with her, if she did not feel the same. “I mean… you know, I love my dad. I wouldn’t mind working for him. We’d make a good team.”
“right, home.” she repeated, she wasn’t sure how to feel right now. she had caught feelings for him, but hadn’t said anything since she didn’t want to be in the way of his dreams of going home & working with his father. right now, georgia is feeling speechless as she slowly nods her head. “no yeah ... of course. i get it.” she nods her head once more before giving him a small smile. “yeah ... that’d be great...”

“I’ve been thinking about it. My dad just offered me the Head of Cardio position in New York Pres and I… I think I want to take it.” It wasn’t like Azhar had a reason to stay in Seattle anyways.
“new york ?” georgia questioned as she bit down on her lower lip, “that’s a great offer.” she adds & gives a small smile, “y-you should take it ... i mean it’d be good for you.” she slowly nods her head not wanting to be selfish & tell him to stay, since this is a big offer.

Caroline walked into Georgia’s apartment, not even bothering to knock or even scream that she was there. She instead, walked into her sister’s bedroom, seeing the lump piled under the covers and silently slipped off her shoes. This had always been her favorite thing to do. While Caroline was typically up before the sun, Georgia slept until around 8 or 9am and so when she needed to wake her younger sister up, she would do so by throwing herself on the bed next to her or if her aim was bad that day, on top of her. So that’s exactly what she did, landing half on top of her and half on the bed, laughing as she went. “Wake up, Georgie.”
it was georgia’s day off, this is where she slept in at least an hour or two than what her usual wake up time is. thankfully when she sleeps in, she’s able to feel refreshed when she wakes up. today she is feeling lazy & just wants to lay in bed & actually be lazy by not doing anything. while she was asleep, she heard some movement around her apartment, but didn’t think anything of it. that is until she felt something land on top of her, followed by a laugh, a laugh that she could easily recognized. a soft groan leaves her lips as soon as words are spoken from the other, “why do you do this stuff, why are you like this ?” she questions & stays under her cover. “it’s my day off, let me sleep.”

“god i love my job, my patients are the sweetest. despite what’s going on in their life right now & having to live in the hospital, they always have a smile on their face. my one patient greg, he’s super sweet, he gave me a dollar to get myself a coffee but i refused because i didn’t want to take his money & he said listen here, if you don’t take this money, i will ask for a different nurse. he’s such a sweetheart, so i had to take his money even though i didn’t use it to get myself a coffee, i just kept it & told him i used it for coffee.”

CLOSED STARTER // @carolinekingfreedman , @gcorgiakf
rachel loved her sisters with her ENTIRE being. there was no doubt about that. the three of them had such a strong bond, but unfortunately with their busy schedules they weren’t able to spend as much time together like they used to when they were kids. so when rachel had taken a personal day off, she was going to take the opportunity to hangout with her sisters. rachel sent a group text out to her sisters letting them know where she wanted to meet up for brunch.
hey sissys, can we meet at starbucks for brunch and then maybe go shopping afterwards? i REALLY need new running shoes for work. xox
she presses send then tucks her phone into her back pocket. her backpack was slung over her right shoulder as she walked down the street towards the nearest starbucks. rachel loved walking. she could go on a mile long walk to no destination at all. making her way to the front steps of the coffee shop, rachel sits down on the step and crosses her arms over her legs as she waits for the girls to arrive.
it had been a hot minute since georgia really saw her sisters. they all had moved to seattle & found their own places, which was weird. they were all settled in at their place, well georgia for one made sure to make her apartment more homey. she did whatever it took to make sure it feel like home to her. it sucked that she & her sisters decided to buy separate places, but they are at that age where they should be living on their own, not to mention caroline had justin & lilly, so it would be weird for her to have a place with caroline.
while she was cleaning up around her house, she hears her phone go off & walks to her bedroom where her phone is plugged in, & notices a text from rachel. a smile sits on her face as blue eyes reads through the text. yeah i’m down, meet you there in an hour ? she sent back in hoping she had time to get ready.
since she had done a lot of cleaning around her apartment & it looked clean & decent, she hurried & got ready so she could meet up with her sisters. this was something that has been awaited for for so long & it was now finally happening. putting her phone into her purse backpack, she slips the backpack through her shoulders & hurries out to starbucks to meet with rachel & caroline.

“and this is why i am mom’s favorite out of all of us, because i never hang up on her & i’m a good daughter.”

He wore a pair of Khaki pants and a black Henley shirt, his rolex watch was still on his wrist but his Gucci loafers sat in his office, replaced with a pair of Vans on his feet. His freshly washed black hair was slightly wet. He had used the showers in the locker room, having just worked a forty-eight hour call shift. All Azhar wanted was to go home and get in his bed. He had an anatomy class to teach in the morning and he needed to be up early if he was going to hit the gym before going to UW. He made his way down to the lobby, winked at one of the nurses and said a cheeky goodbye on his way before heading towards the exit near the ER. As he reached the pit, he noticed the usual hustle of bustle of a weeknight. A part of him wanted to stay back and help out but he knew he shouldn’t overwork himself. Just as Azhar was headed for the door, he noticed someone collapse in the waiting room and rushed over to them. “Hey, I need some help over here!” He called out towards the pit. “Get me a gurney!”
decked out in her navy pants followed by the cute cartoon owl top to match her bottom scrubs, georgia walks in & out of rooms checkin on patients, making sure they have everything they need, making sure they’re prepped for the doctors, & making sure the patents are keeping up with their medication, or if they need any. with a smile on her face, georgia writes down some final notes for her last patient, “alright albert, you get your rest okay.” she replies, clicking the pen before placing it back into the pocket of her shirt & walks toward the door before shaking her head at some flirtatious comment made by albert, “alright albert, i’ll check up on you in a bit.” she closes the door before hearing someone call out from the waiting room. placing the clipboard on the door, she rushes over to where azhar is, “what happened, what do we got?” she asked before checking the person who had collapsed. remembering what she had done in school, she checked the person’s pulse & placed them on their back, searching to see if they have a belt on so she could loosen it a bit. followed by slowly lifting the person’s leg up a few inches from what she can remember, just above to heart level.

amelia wished that she was interested. really, she did but she couldn’t pretend like she wasn’t looking for charlotte. a meeting, she needed one. “that’s GREAT,” the neurosurgeon muttered in return, a quiet noise escaping her lips as she glanced at the screen and then anywhere but. to be honest she was hardly listening.. not her greatest moment. “do you know when your mom’ll be back? i need her for.. something.”
glancing up to see her aunt at the door, georgia was quick to sit up & turn off the tv before giving her aunt her full attention, “oh uhm i’m not entirely sure, she said she would be back in a bit, but growing up i never really understood what a bit meant to her. she could be out for minutes, to hours, but it’s been about an hour since she left, but i think she’ll be back soon.” she assured her aunt with a small smile, “i can let her know you came by when she returns ?”

rachel laid with her head on her sisters leg and her own legs propped up on the arm of the couch while she looked at her cellphone, listening to georgia go on about some logo thing. “ what are you even talking about ?? ” she questions, looking up at the other. “ i’m so confused. ”
looking over at her sister, she points to the tv, “really ? it’s right in front of you. do you ever just watch that stupid logo & how it moves around on the screen but never hits the corner ? people say that if you look away you could have missed it.” she shakes her head & sigh softly, “nothing never mind. do you want to get something to eat ?”

Mason stood there as he listened to his little sister, looking down at the tablet in his hand to see the updated ultrasound images of his newest patient before looking up at Georgia and then towards the TV. “Gigi… honey, I have to do a Fetoscopic Laser Photocoagulation in an hour and I’m kind of freakin’ out about it… now’s really not the time to stand around starring at the DVD logo move around on the TV screen.”
looking over at her brother, she leans her head back against the arm of the couch. “yeah okay but listen, do you ever just look at the stupid logo thing & wonder will it ever hit the corner ? no because you don’t stick around long enough to find out. did you know that just by talking to you i probably missed the logo hitting the corner, so thank you, mason.” she gives him a playful glare shaking her head, turning her attention back to the paused tv show.

“We act like colleagues more than father and son, to be honest.” Azhar admitted, laughing softly. “I did my fellowship with him and he taught me everything he knows. A few months into my fellowship, I won my first Harper Avery and another one a year later. I think it’s probably because I’ve made him so proud that he liked to reward me with new patients.” He waved at one of the doctors who walked past them before turning to Georgia. “I’ve read her work on Sexology. It’s quite interesting.” He told her with a soft chuckle. “I usually introduce myself as Dr. Khan to most people, even outside of work. I’m working on it…” He replied before shrugging his shoulders. “How about you call me Dr. Khan only when you’re in class? You can call me Azhar anywhere else… at the hospital or even in my office. How about that?” Was an informal relationship with his student the most ideal thing to do? He did not know. But he had lived a majority of his life as an adult, even when he was a child. He wanted something informal, something normal. And maybe having someone address him by his first name was a start. “Why don’t we head to the coffee cart then?” Azhar asked her, motioning her to follow him. “It’s a lot better than the watered down nonsense they serve at the cafeteria.”
“i think that’s cute, that you’re father & son, but you act like colleagues.” georgia smiles & nods her head, folding her arms over her chest listening intently to him. she grew fond of him, the more he opened his mouth, the more she was interested in getting to know him, but she cannot, she shall not, she will not, god but he just looks so good, no stop it georgia, he is your professor & you shouldn’t be feeling these things. “hmm, i’m not entirely sure what a harper avery is, but congratulations on winning that.” she congratulates him with a bright smile. when the doctor passed, she offered a smile to them, but kept listening to what he was talking about & didn’t want to be rude & tune him out, so she made sure to give him all his attention. nodding her head, she smiles, “i’ve read bits of that, but not too much of it.” she commented not that he probably cares if she reads her mom’s work or not. “done deal, i just don’t want to disrespect you or anything like that, but i’m glad to know that i can call you azhar outside of class, even though it’ll feel weird to me.” she chuckles softly, & bites on her lower lip, brushing some of her hair behind her ear. “uh yeah that sounds great, we can do that ... you might want to lead the way, since i don’t really know where that is.” she tells him & follows beside him toward the coffee cart. “gross, wouldn’t want watered down coffee.” she chuckles softly biting at her lip once more, “so uhm how long have you worked here ?” she questions, trying to make small talk with her professor.
