     “Fleur right? I heard you transferred from Ilvermorny too!” She approaches the other Hufflepuff with a BRIGHT smile. “I don’t get a chance to meet other transfers, I wanted to introduce myself earlier but I’ve got so much extra stuff I’m doing lately.” She balances the large textbook book she’s holding in one arm, extending a gloved hand towards the girl. “I’m Niya.”

Mattie grinned at the fellow snake mutant. It was always nice getting to hang out with Niya, she was so cool and she just loved having another snake girl to spend time with. “Hm…a positive and a negative thing huh? I guess one positive thing would be that I can talk to snakes. I mean, they can’t talk back but they listen. As for a negative thing…” Mattie made a face and shivered. “Shedding. Definitely shedding.”

  She laughs, nodding in agreement. “The shedding is DEFINITELY the worst.” Niya wrinkles her nose in an expression of disgust. “It’s itchy and disgusting, I hate it so much. Honestly if that weren’t an issue, the entire mutation and scales thing wouldn’t be nearly as bad.” She stops to think. “OH! And the temperature thing, I could go without being FREEZING every winter and nearly suffocating if it’s too hot. It really limits what I can do sometimes, though it’s not nearly as bad as when I was younger.”

        From behind her own disguise of her large dark shades, yellow eyes try to study the being before her. They’re obviously hiding something, and YES it may not be fair to try and make them make themselves know, she’s DISTRUSTING of any shadowy figure that isn’t her {with good reason}. “You might as well come out, I know you’re there.” Niya hadn’t expected to come across anyone while making a nostalgic walk to one of her old hideouts, but it seemed to be a day of surprises. Hands tucked in the pocket of her hoodie, she tries to keep her stance casual,  non-aggressive. “You don’t hurt me, I won’t hurt you.”

     “Are you the one that’s been coming here too?” She asks in a soft, curious voice. Niya was nearly certain she was the only one who knew about THIS place, and the little flowers that had been trying to survive despite the winter that had been harsher than past ones. Someone else had to be tending to them, and while there’s a chance she was WRONG, if this is the person, she wants to thank them for caring for the small plants in her absence. “I figured someone else had to be..”

   “You gotta tell me how you get your hair lookin’ that good.” She’s curious, golden eyes locking onto the woman’s features in a sort of admiration. Niya’s on her way back home from a coffee run, and couldn’t help but stop and say something. “I could fight with mine all day and never get it that nice.”

      “Sorry, Uh, I’d shake your hand but they’re a bit colorful right now.” A slightly awkward shrug, Niya holds up paint covered hands as proof of her words. “I’ve been in the art room all day, give me a sec?”  Once her hands are clean, she’ll do proper introductions, but she’s been in the painting zone all morning so it takes her a moment to come back to reality.

      “It’s great isn’t it? I’m nearly addicted. I used to drink it as much as possible but I’ve tried to cut back lately.” She laughs. “What’s Alfheim?”

      A shrug of her shoulders. “I’ve always been interested in new places and things. I guess that did come out of nowhere.” She simply thought Wakanda sounded beautiful, amazing even. “I’m just curious I guess, if that makes any sense.”

"Would you like to talk about it?"

      She’s silent for what seems like forever, when in reality it’s a mere moment or two, gaze drifting down to the floor, then to the wall, anywhere so that she doesn’t have to look Kurt in the eyes. 

   “..Not really.” Because HOW would she even begin to talk about this? “I think I should..I mean, it’s just hard to. I didn’t mean to freak out though, I’m sorry.” Niya wanted to learn, she really did. She wanted to be able to patch up her friends when they returned from missions she didn’t go on. She wanted to help the future mutants coming from situations similar to hers, but how was she going to be able to do any of that if something as simple as going through  a few books with pictures on her own would seen her mentally B A C K. This was a bad start, she shouldn’t have done it this way.  {It had started okay, but a few images had been too close for comfort, her chest hurt, she could see HERSELF in those doctors’ chairs, imagination making it way worse than they really were. She’d started shaking, nearly crying} Thank god Kurt had showed up when he did, even if she had jumped, knocking the book clear off of the small desk in her room.

      “I don’t know, I should be over it all shouldn’t I?”  Her hand is still shaking a bit and so she instinctively reaches for his as a sort of security, to ground herself.  

       “Maybe I’m not cut out for this.”

🐍 || Niya would definitely want to learn more medical stuff, at least the basics, as she got older and started to get more into her studies at Xavier’s, mostly because she was TERRIFIED of anything having to do with doctors and hospitals to the point where honestly if she was bleeding out or something she’d be more worried about going to see a doctor than her actual injury. She’d want to make a calm and welcoming environment for others who had less-than-pleasant experiences with things like that. She’d want to help others with traumatic experiences and ease them into learning that they’re safe and basically give them a safe space. She’d REALLY also want to overcome her own fears and feels learning to deal with it would help like !! !! It would be a rough road and not easy at ALL but she’d be dedicated and serious about doing it.
