Quote
If we wait until we’re ready, we’ll be waiting for the rest of our lives.
Lemony Snicket / The Ersatz Elevator (via bnmxfld)
Professional Life: This quote is applicable to everyones work life. We are never fully ready for anything to happen; however, if we do not make an effort to start, we will never get a task done. I believe this relates to event planning because you can never make an event perfect there are always mistakes or something may show up late, you cannot predict what will happen. I also believe this applies to sustainability because we are never ready to change our ways of life. However, we have to remember starting somewhere and making little adjustments is better than never taking the first step.

Professional Life: This image is a perfect example of how to make the wedding attire more eco-friendly. Using flowers for the woman’s hair is very smart when having an eco-friendly wedding. The pieces used are natural and still give a vibrant effect even though it portrays sustainability. As a wedding planner, we have to remember every detail for the bride and groom down to the flowers they want for their after party to the flowers they want to wear during the wedding. Details matter, and these happen to be eco-friendly ones.

Professional Life: I believe this relates to event planning because it takes a team to get an event fully ready. You first need to inform all your workers and those involved in the planning about the eco-friendly plan to ensure the tools used to design this event are sustainable. Then, you need to allow everyone within the process of event planning to suggest more ideas to give new thought about the event. Lastly, when the event begins, the guests need to know the intent of the event and to ensure they follow out the eco-friendly event style.

Professional Life: This is an article about how your venue can be apart of the sustainable movement. Because I want to be an event planner, ensuring the venues used are able to be sustainable is very important. I believe as an event planner, it is doable to make your events environmentally friendly because you are using the resources available. I enjoy reading articles about making the event industry a more sustainable-friendly business because it makes me realize all of the options available when planning an event.

Professional Life: The link attached is about an article on how to have a more eco-friendly wedding. The first thought is to think local. Using the resources around you will reduce your carbon footprint and allow you to support the local businesses around you in your town. Another way to be more eco-friendly is through the wedding decor. Use what you have at home such as using mason jars for the flowers to be held in. I am interested in wedding planner for brides and grooms. When getting the chance to plan a wedding, I will suggest the eco-friendly options.

Personal Life: Occasionally instead of going to a boutique or buying clothes online, my friends and I will go ‘thrift shopping’. I did not realize the positive effects it has until I started researching more into sustainability. Going to thrift stores, you are purchasing reusable clothes are are still in good condition to wear. You can cut, paint, etc on the clothes however you like. This post reminds me you do not always have to have the high end clothing when you can make/get something just as valuable from a thrift store. The next time you are purchasing clothes online pause and think if you could go find that in a thrift store.

Personal Life: I found this quote and absolutely love the message it sends. I believe this is a great quote to live by especially to live a sustainable life. As a community we need to start making decisions that positively affect not only us, but the world around us. To do this, we must see these changes as a way to improve not an everyday burden. That is what I believe this quote is saying. The way you are living your life, you should not be going through the motions and making it a duty, rather it should be enjoyable and a lifestyle you strive/choose to live by.

Personal Life: This example of reusing coffee filters is implementing a sustainable lifestyle. Many people in the world today have a cup of coffee throughout their day; however, even the simplest thing by reusing your coffee filter is helping the world around us. Although I am not a big coffee person, I will suggest this idea to the people in my family who do drink coffee every morning. What people have to remember is, even if it does not relate specifically to your life, it can to someone else’s and you can make their life more green.

Personal Life: Something I have started to implement into my life is using paper straws or bringing reusable bags to go shopping. This is a way to live a sustainable life without having to change the ‘norm’. Using a paper straw over a plastic straw is helping out the wildlife in the ocean to keep it clean. Also, when you go shopping, consider bringing a bag that you already have at home to reduce the use of plastic. These two habits are easy to implement into your life and will not cause you to change your daily routine.

Personal Life: This is an image of a tarc bus. These buses provide public transportation in cities. Public transportation is a great way to portray sustainability. Everyone that uses their car is polluting the air and making the air unhealthy. To avoid that... we must use the transportation that is available such as a tarc bus. If you own a car and work with multiple people, next time ask them to carpool instead of all using a car to drive to work. The little steps taken each day will improve the air quality.

Personal Life: This image reflects a sustainable lifestyle. Everyday, we use the washer and dryer for our clothes; however, we forget that we can reduce our use of bad habits just by hanging your clothes to dry. Most washers and dryers use their most energy/power when heating up which means the dryer uses a lot of energy. Instead of drying my clothes in the dryer next time I wash them, I will hang dry them. The spring and summer coming around the corner is the best time to hang dry clothes to get the suns energy to dry them other than using electricity.

Personal Life: The link attached is an image of a dishwasher. Although I was surprised, I found out that dishwashers are actually an example of sustainability. I do my dishes everyday and use the regular sponge and soap or will sometimes use the dishwasher. However, from gaining knowledge about dishwashers I will continue to use them over washing the dishes myself. As you wash the dishes yourself, you do not realize the amount of water that is being used. Using the dishwasher there is a set amount of water to use which is more environmentally friendly then letting the sink run with soap.

Personal Life: I believe this is a great illustration of sustainability. The drawings make the post more intriguing and interested with what is happening. Although the drawings are not serious, that is what I love about them because it grabs your attention. Everything related to sustainability that I come across is very serious and this post shows we need to take action but in a light-hearted way. These are everyday examples that we need to be more cautious about. It can all start by turning the water off while you brush your teeth.

Personal life: This post I related to a lot because being a college student, it is hard to have a job and make money. With this improvise of using the extra yarn or cut your ripped stockings shows living a sustainable life is not expensive and could even save you money. This post shows the benefits of using fabrics you already have and using your creativity and imagination to make something new. This idea also helps you stray from normal and become your own person with your own ideas put into action. We have to remember living a sustainable life is as easy as sewing a string of yarn into your old jean shorts.
wearing out your clothes is fun! sew the hole in your wool sweater or sock with a different colour yarn! cut up your ripped stockings and use the fabric to patch up the knees of your jeans! cover up permanent stains by trying out embroidery! patches and stitches and creative attempts and other ‘imperfections’ are cute and cool!

Personal life: I chose this image because recently in CADS 2000 I learned about reduce, reuse, and recycle. I have learned these in the past; however, learning this content again made me realize the true importance of why we should always recycle what we can. Not only did I relearn, I learned there are three new parts added to the cycle: refuse, repair, rethink. This image depicts the importance of using these six steps in our everyday life which I will hold myself accountable for. This image will continuously remind me to recycle!
