4763950.M41 - Session 1
Today was interesting, met with the Lord Inquisitor, went alright, but I did get a weird feeling around him, I’d brush it off as an inquisitor thing, but my gut’s telling me there’s something dodgy going on, and you don’t make it 30 years in the guard by ignoring your gut.
Still don’t know why I got selected, sure I’m a good shot but there must be people more suited to it, ah well, you don’t turn down an inquisitor, so I’m stuck here now.
Speaking of being stuck here, I’m surrounded by imbeciles who can’t take a hint and shut the fuck up, but then what can you expect from a rookie, two cog brains and a blue blood. At least the blue blood tried to get us on topic, then again, he’s a posturing prick, I don’t care how long he’s served in the regiment, a blue blood’s a blue blood, and until I see he’s not a complete waste of space with my own eyes I ain’t gonna cut him any slack.
The rookie makes me wish I’d taken that fucking promotion, she really needs someone to shout some sense into her, with that attitude she’s gonna get killed sooner rather than later, not to mention it’s completely unprofessional, how she hasn’t been court-martialled I’ll never know, though the rumour going around is she’s a pretty good medic, hope I never have to find out.
The cog brains kept talking in that weird language of theirs, creeps me the fuck out it does, they seem decent enough, though one of them looks far too interesting in my baby, I swear if she fucks with her she’ll find out just how powerful her roar is.
Blueblood tried to chat with me after, was getting all buddy-buddy with me, if he thinks he can butter me up he’s sorely mistaken, think I managed to see him off well enough, poor rookie decided to chat with him, big mistake, blue bloods are never worth talking too, did want to deck him when he insulted us low born, but you gotta learn to pick your fights and I really didn’t want to deal with him more than absolutely necessary.
Had a few hours spare so I hit the gym, nothing like pounding around a track to vent the frustration of dealing with a blue blood, the pace is getting better. I know it’s a bit unrealistic, but that 3mins/km goal is getting closer and closer, couple more months and I reckon I’ll have cracked it.
Made sure to arrive ready for departure half an hour early, was surprised to see the rookie arrived at the same time, good to see she’s at least picked up some discipline, then again she proceeded to joke around with the trooper running the desk, so perhaps not, the cog brain who couldn’t keep her eyes off my baby, call em cogsworth, was stuck head deep in the ship, much as I find em creepy, I’ll grudgingly acknowledge those ad mech types know their way around a machine, honestly so long as she puts everything back in order before we’re due to leave it’ll be fine, though the odd puff of smoke is doing nothing to assure me she’ll be able to manage that.
The transport was serviceable, bit fancy for my tastes, but that’s blue bloods for you, spent the time caring for my baby, been a while since I gave her a proper service, can’t imagine a better time than now, not to mention it gives the advantage of making blue bloods unwilling to sit anywhere near me.
Typical blue bloods turning up late made us leave 15 minutes late, if you did that in the guard you’d be cleaning the surgical tent for weeks. You’d think they’ve never had a time commitment in their life, then again, it’s probably some bullshit custom to be late, disguise it as a fashion thing or something, pointless trying to understand blue bloods anyway.
Blueblood doesn’t seem to get the point about keeping the mission a secret, at least if whisper shouting to Cogsworth across the shuttle is anything to go by, someone ought to bash him on the head with an op sec manual, maybe something might get through his thick skull.
Arriving on the planet Blueblood decided to hang around with the nobles for a chat, pompous prick, but he left in time for us to reach the location we’d been told to go to.
As I was playing guard, I waited outside the door whilst the rest of the party marched into the shop our contact, Jaq was supposed to be in, the other trooper the inquisitor sent us down with stayed out as well, he looked a bit shifty to me, but then he was selected by the inquisitor, and I prefer my head *on* my shoulders thank you very much, so I didn’t question it.
Turns out that was a mistake, fucker threw me into the shop after a short while standing out there, straight into the middle of a standoff, should’ve trusted my gut on that one, I went for my pistol, but when you’re that surrounded it’s better to see what they want than to incite violence, in my experience leads to you being a whole lotta dead, and anyone else left alive just has to deal with an even more pissed off group of people.
Fortunately, it was just a shakedown by Jaq, our contact. On the one hand, I don’t trust him cause he did just hold a gun at our collective heads, several in fact, but on the other, it was because he was berating Blueblood, and anyone who brings him down a peg can’t be all bad, at least in my book.
He took us out the back and continued to give us the riot act for a bit before getting into the mission details, seats were offered, but I was still a little leery after nearly being shot so I didn’t take it. The mission was simple enough, infiltrate a Blueblood social posing as nobles with their guards respectively and try to gather info on a string of high profile, but seemingly unrelated murders that’ve been happening as of late. I got the feeling he was holding something back, but this sort of info seems to be on a need to know basis, so I didn’t push for more. After that it was head to the safe house the Lord Inquisitor set up for us and get ready for the mission, but that’s enough from me for now.

Welcome citizens of the Imperium
This will be the diary of my Dark Heresy character, Sniper Guardsman Garrit Canto, in our group we have currently have Pollonia - a techpriest sage (Cogsworth), Uri Acadi - A guardsman medic (Rookie), Icarus Erioch - A noble psyker (Blue blood) and Acaidi - A techpriest seeker (Nickname tbc). This is the team as it stands now, though we may end up with more members later down the line, if so I’ll introduce them in time.
Updates will likely be sporadic, but I should have the first session’s entry up soon. My knowledge of 40k is somewhat limited, as is that of our gm, so please forgive any inaccuracies or things that look a bit off, we’re doing our best!

I haven’t been able to find the icon’s origin, I got it off of the wiki for the Tanith first-and-only http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Tanith_First-and-Only, but I’d much appreciate it if anyone who knew the source could let me know. Thanks!
Hope you enjoy and I look forward to posting soon!
