i am gonna take this excuse to ramble and run to the hills with it ty ty :3c

My initial thoughts for Dirae's fate after the Heresy were kinda up in the air when i made her - she wasn't a perpetual back then and i wanted some way for her to stick around in the 40k verse (it took longer than i care to admit for me realising i could just. make her a perpetual for that) and so the obvious answer to me was ofc lets make her get clawed into Chaos' clutches!

I never got around to the how of it, aside from it being tied to the HH, i didn't even decide when - if it was during or after the Heresy - but I knew immediately it would have been Tzeentch's influence she fell under, and so big pretty daemon bird lady

My reasoning was her role during the Crusades; while she didn't exactly have 'a whisper from behind the throne' sort of power, a large part of her 'peacekeeper' moniker was manipulation and its trappings; careful word choice and meaning what she said but not saying what she meant Khorne wouldn't have wanted her, she was actively an antithesis to his desires - conquering through words and treaties rather than spilling blood. Minimising bloodshed was part of her approach so he prob hated her actually lol Slaanesh probably got off on the anguish that swelled in Horus and Dirae's relationship lbr, and maybe even fancied pulling the strings between them for their amusement - but it would have been nothing long-term. Di woulda been tossed like a toy Grandpapa Nurgle…i didn't even consider him im ngl. he just didn't fit what i wanted for her lol and that left a certain Great Conspirator

As she was once a mouthpeice for the Consul Guilliman, she would slip into that role again for Tzeentch quite easily. and im ngl part of that idea was cos i was imagining a reunion scene between Abby and her quite some time later; the Warmaster of Chaos parleying with a Daemon he once called Legion Mother

but then i tagged her as a perpetual and made her stick around in the Imperium instead of Chaos hjbhjbjb
