The myths about In vitro fertilization (IVF)
The myths about In vitro fertilization (IVF)
Having a child is the greatest happiness that a couple can experience. At times, when they are not able to conceive naturally, science and technology can come to their rescue.
In-vitro Fertilization is a process of conception, in which eggs are collected from the woman and combined with the male partner’s sperm, outside the woman’s body - in the laboratory. This fertilized egg is then put back into the woman’s womb for the embryo to grow there, until the delivery.
There are, however, some myths around IVF, that we need to put at rest.
MYTH 1. One needs to take complete bed rest during IVF: It is one of the most prevalent myth that plagues every IVF patient. Many people think that they need “strict” bed rest during the IVF and also after the embryo transfer . Many patients are scared that the embryos will fall out if they walk around. Patients need to know that nature designed the body with enough ‘ability’ that walking, running, coughing, and sneezing does not cause an embryo to fall out. The fetus remains safe in the womb, and just because they have been in an incubator in the IVF does not make any difference. IVF allows us to copy nature, and once the embryo reaches the uterus, it is just like a natural embryo.
MYTH 2. IVF is a painful procedure: Many couples believe that IVF is a painful procedure, which is not true. The needed injections are given with the help of a specialized pen, which is a painless process. In the egg retrieval process, the woman is administered anesthesia, so there is absolutely no pain in that process. After this, there are certain injections that we inject in luteal support, they are also minimally painful. In some cases, we can avoid the injections and replace the same with gel or tablets. So it is a painless procedure.
MYTH 3. IVF means we will have twins: This is also a common myth that if we opt for IVF, we will have twins only. It depends on how many embryos are transferred as part of the IVF cycle and also on how many embryos continue to grow in the womb. The chances of a twin pregnancy is higher if more than 1 embryo is transferred. But it is not guaranteed that IVF will ALWAYS result in twins.
MYTH 4. IVF children have birth defects: Many couples believe that if a child is born via IVF, he/she will have deformities. This myth is based on the wrong understanding that as the child’s conception and early embryo development have happened outside the mother’s body, there are higher chances of birth defects. This is not true. There have been many studies over the last few decades that show that the percentage of deformities in an IVF baby is the same as the percentage of deformities in a naturally-conceived child, not more, not less. It is also important to know that in an IVF pregnancy, the baby is screened with a lot more diligence when compared to a normal pregnancy and so the chances of a birth defect is much lesser.
If you or anyone you know wants to have a baby through IVF, they can contact us at GarbhaGudi. We have helped thousands of couples conceive children and get the joy of having a complete family.

Nutrition for Conception or Essential Nutrients for Her
Is there a magic diet / nutrition plan for guaranteeing conception?
The truthful answer is that there is no such magical nutrient that will ‘ensure’ your pregnancy. But, it is also a fact that a healthy nutritious diet will impact the fertility of both you and your partner. Such a diet will increase the chances of pregnancy, if all other factors have already been addressed or is being addressed. Diet alone cannot ensure pregnancy. Diet can assist in the “trying to conceive” process.
There are some nutrients that directly affect fertility in women. For instance,
• ZINC : Scientific research has proven that deficiency in zinc impacts fertility in both women and men. Both men and women are supposed to keep their dietary allowance of 15 mg of zinc daily as a part of their regular food intake. Zinc is available for use in vegetables, eggs, sunflower seeds, watermelon, dry fruits, wholesome grains, nuts, meat, legumes, seafood, seeds and dairy.
• VITAMIN B6 : Vitamin B6 affects women’s fertility by contributing to the production of female sex hormones and regulates both estrogen and progesterone. Vitamin B6 increases your chances of conception and decreases the chances of miscarriage. VitaminB6 is found naturally in foods like eggs, peanuts, bananas, salmon, sunflower seeds and soybeans. Prenatal vitamins also contain B6 as part of the supplement and are a great way to ensure that you have this essential fertility nutrient.
• VITAMIN C : Vitamin C is a fertility nutrient and helps in triggering ovulation. It plays a vital role in men too, as it helps in sperm count. Vitamin C rich foods are vegetables like tomatoes and fruits like strawberries, oranges, kiwi, mangoes, and blueberries.
• VITAMIN E : Vitamin E is another fertility nutrient required by both men and women. It enhances hormone function in women and affects sperm function in men. Vitamin E sources are through fish oil, Vegetable oils (such as wheat germ, sunflower, safflower, corn, and soybean oils) Nuts (such as almonds, peanuts, and hazelnuts/filberts Seeds (such as sunflower seeds) Green leafy vegetables (such as spinach and broccoli)
A human body needs different essential nutrients for it to function systematically. Any deficiency in nutrients will lead to the malfunctioning or compromised functioning of the body organs. So it is of utmost importance that we consume a healthy diet, comprising of all the essential nutrients, every day. Exercising is also crucial for us to maintain a healthy body, mind and soul.

Do IVF Babies have the Same Cognitive Skills as Naturally-Born Babies?
Do IVF Babies have the Same Cognitive Skills as Naturally-Born Babies?
Babies conceived from artificial methods such as In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) have the same cognitive skills as the naturally-born babies, revealed a scientific research study. This extensive research came out with this finding that that IVF Babies are not any smarter or less smarter than natural babies. Average cognitive skills are the same between both the groups.
Over time, with significant improvement in technology, multiple pregnancies in IVF and other forms of ART has reduced drastically. Earlier, when multiple pregnancies were a common occurrence in ART and IVF, there used to be associated risks of premature births leading to low birth-weight. This led to developmental problems of the baby. But with advanced IVF techniques and technology, and with the increased adoption of single embryo transfer, chances of single pregnancy is more. Thus the child gets better nutrition and is born with healthier birth-weight. IVF and ART born babies are as healthy, as smart and as brainy as naturally-born babies.
If you have any queries or confusion regarding IVF or ART methods, feel free to consult our fertility specialist at GarbhaGudi IVF Centre, the best IVF Clinic in Bangalore City.

What is a preimplantation genetic diagnosis?
What is a preimplantation genetic diagnosis?
Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) is a technique for analyzing embryos to differentiate those who are carriers of a genetic defect from those who are genetically normal.
The objective of this technique is to avoid the birth of children with chromosomal abnormalities since embryos diagnosed as abnormal are discarded for transfer. This increases the probability of embryo implantation and the probability of successful in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment.
PGD is a method that makes it possible to eliminate the probability of transmission of genetic diseases from parents to children. PGD detects point mutations in embryos that cause serious genetic diseases.
PGD is indicated as a complement to the IVF-ICSI process in the following situations:
- When one or both partners are carriers of a disease or genetic abnormality.
- When one or both members of the couple have an alteration in the number of chromosomes.
- Repeated implantation failure.
- Repeated miscarriages.
- Advanced maternal age. The age of the mother increases the probability of genetic abnormalities within the embryo. This percentage is higher in women over 40.
- Family history of the disease or genetic alteration.
When people plan to do PGD when trying for pregnancy, they will achieve these benefits:
- Avoids the transfer of embryos with chromosomal alterations, therefore allows only the transfer of healthy embryos.
- Increases the rate of implantation.
- Increased pregnancy rate.
- Reduced abortion rate.
- Decreases the risk of children born with chromosomal syndromes known as Huntington's disease and muscular dystrophy.
If you’re planning to undergo in vitro fertilization (IVF). Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) testing is performed before the implantation so that the embryos can be carefully selected to prevent genetic conditions being passed on to the child. And improve a woman’s chances of giving birth to a healthy baby.

What are the symptoms of pelvic adhesions?
What are the symptoms of pelvic adhesions?
Adhesions can form when the abdomen is injured because of disease or surgery. Adhesions are bands of connective tissue that may form between abdominal organs (uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, or bowel) and/or between these organs and also the wall of the abdomen.
Depending on their location, adhesions may make it difficult for one to get pregnant or can cause bowel obstruction or pain. Your doctor might suspect you have adhesions if you experience any of these conditions. To diagnose and treat adhesions Laparoscopic surgery is required.
Appendicitis, colon inflammation, and gallbladder inflammation are quite uncommon causes of infertility because of adhesions. The further your disease has progressed, the more severe the adhesions will be.
Surgery on the ovaries uterus or tubes can cause adhesions. Any surgery can cause adhesions but is more likely after traditional or open surgery than after minimally invasive surgery or laparoscopy. Minimally invasive surgery may cause less tissue damage because the surgeon only makes a couple of small openings and uses a camera to look at your internal organs and abdomen.
Adhesions that form on a woman’s ovaries or fallopian tubes are more likely to cause infertility. Women with adhesions in or around their Fallopian tubes have a greater risk of ectopic (tubal) pregnancy, which is a pregnancy that develops outside the uterus (womb).
Adhesions that form within the womb can lead to infertility and repeated miscarriages. Adhesions involving the small intestine (bowel) can partially or completely block your bowels (bowel obstruction), adhesions are the most common cause of bowel obstruction.
Symptoms and Conditions Caused by Pelvic Adhesions
Adhesions may cause pain within the abdomen or pelvis, particularly if they cause organs to move from their normal location or if they become fixed (stuck) in an abnormal location.
Blocked fallopian tubes– Blocked fallopian tubes are the most common form of infertility caused by adhesions. Adhesions wrap around delicate structures inside the reproductive tract prevents the reproductive system from working normally.
Hydrosalphynx– Another common tubal blockage is a hydrosalpinx. This occurs when fluid collects within the Fallopian tube – generally because of an infection. As adhesions form at the end of the tube close to the ovary the tube swells, hydrosalpinx usually indicates a totally blocked tube.
Unexplained infertility –Most diagnostic tests do not reveal adhesions, exploratory surgery is required in order to verify that a patient has adhesions. Unfortunately, most patients are unaware of adhesion this could the reason in women affected by unexplained infertility.
Previous surgery – Surgeries are sometimes necessary to save a woman’s life, as in the case of an appendectomy. In the case of undiagnosed pain, a doctor may suggest doing exploratory surgery to directly visualize the pelvic contents. Because adhesions form after most pelvic surgeries, the very surgery to correct a problem may be the reason for adhesion formation as the body heals.
• Chronic pain - Common descriptions we hear from patients affected by adhesions are they feel the abdomen tight, immobile, constantly uncomfortable. Because adhesions bind to structures and build constant tension, it's no wonder why so many patients with adhesions also suffer from chronic pain.
• Adhesions that partially block the intestine -If the bowel becomes strangulated, people typically develop severe abdominal pain, which can be either crampy or constant, Nausea and vomiting, Swelling of the abdomen, inability to pass gas, infrequent bowel movements, and absent bowels.

LAH with IVF for you to achieve successful prgnancy!
The inability to get pregnant naturally if you have been trying for some time is heartbreaking. To attain parenthood if you have chosen IVF treatment, and still are unable to get pregnant makes you feel devastated. During the IVF treatment, it is a known fact that a fertilized egg cannot guarantee you a pregnancy. When the embryo gets transferred into the woman's uterus, it needs to implant on the wall of the uterus to achieve a successful pregnancy. In some cases the fertilized egg might fail to hatch and implant, resulting in IVF failure. In such cases, Laser-assisted hatching is an advanced technology is used along with IVF treatment to increase the rate of successful implantation of the embryo. Suppose you are experiencing IVF failure due to unexplained reasons or poor prognosis with IVF treatment, and then the fertility doctor advises you with laser-assisted hatching. What is the difference between IUI and IVF? Which one should I go for?
The difference between IUI and IVF is:
In IUI, fertilization takes place internally – inside the woman’s womb. That is, the sperm is injected into the woman’s uterus. After that, if fertilization is successful, the embryo implants in the uterus. Here, the treatment procedure is aimed at increasing the chances of fertilization of the egg by the sperms, by enabling the sperms reach a ovulated egg. The process of fertilization is still left to the sperm. The intervention by the treatment process is minimal.
In IVF, fertilization takes place externally, or outside the uterus - in a lab. The sperm and the egg fuse for fertilization in the lab. After this process, if fertilization is successful, one or more fertilized egg is grown in the lab for a few days and is then transferred in to the uterus. Here, the embryo may get implanted in the lining of a woman’s uterus resulting in pregnancy and deliver a full-term baby or babies.
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) process has higher success rates than IUI. But, IUI is considerably less expensive than IVF and less invasive. Generally, fertility expert doctors recommend that couples try three rounds of IUI before moving on to IVF.
The Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) states that the IVF success rate in women of all ages is about 30% but increases if the lady is under the age of 35. At GarbhaGudi, we are consistently experiencing more than 60% success in IVF cycles.
With increasing lifestyle changes and several medical reasons, infertility is common among couples. GarbhaGudi IVF Clinic, with its team of infertility specialists, can guide you and assist you to overcome the challenges in attaining parenthood.

Garbhagudi: A leading hi-tech fertility center in Bangalore!
It is an accepted fact that the problem of infertility is rising alarmingly these days. There are various reasons for it - lifestyle issues, stress and postponement of pregnancy are among the most common factors for it. Though there are various treatment available for infertility issues, it is always best to conceive naturally and it helps to be clear about exactly when you need the infertility treatment.
The first thing that you need to know is that it is perfectly normal for a couple to take six months to one year of trying, without contraception, for conception. They should not expect the conception to happen in the first month itself. If you are under 35 years of age and you have been trying for a baby for over a year and are unable to conceive, then you should see a fertility doctor. If you are over the age of 35 years and you have been trying to have a baby for at least six months without success, then you should see a fertility doctor.
In the medical world, we consider a couple to have infertility issues only if she fails to conceive even after one year of unprotected sexual intercourse. It is because 80% of the couples conceive within one year, and about 90% of the couples conceive within two years. So only those 10% to 15% of couples who have a problem in conception even after one to two years need to have fertility treatment.
The most fertile days
The couple should know the most fertile days when they will have the maximum chance of conception. We need to understand that egg development starts from the second day of the lady’s menstrual cycle and around the 13th – 14th day of the period for anybody with a regular menstrual cycle of about 28 to 30 days is when the egg would ovulate, and that is the most appropriate time to conceive. Anything between day 10 to day 18 for regular cycling women is the right time to try.
One way to figure out your most fertile days are – divide your menstrual cycle into 3 equal parts of 9 days each (assuming a 27 to 30 days cycle). The first part (day 1 to day 9) and the last part (day 20 to day 28) are the less-fertile periods. Chances of conceiving in this period is low. The middle part (day 10 to day 19) is the fertile part. Chances of conception is higher in this period.
If there are the following warning signs, then we should see a doctor.
1. If you have irregular periods.
2. If the fallopian tubes are inflamed or if you have had a gynecological surgery.
3. If you have had a miscarriage and are trying to get pregnant or if you have endometriosis or pelvic inflammatory disease, then also you can seek fertility treatment.
4. If the husband has had a history of mumps or any surgery is done in the groin area, then we should consult our doctor early.
You can consult our infertility specialists at GarbhaGudi as they can offer you a personalized fertility treatment plan.

Three lifestyle factors that could affect your IVF success
If you are planning to have a baby through IVF, then you want to have a successful outcome… in the first cycle itself, if possible! There are so many things that the IVF hospital and their team have to do and these are not in your control. But there are somethings that you and your partner can do, as part of your lifestyle, to increase the probability of success. Here are some important do’s and don’ts that can help increase the chances of having a successful IVF. Context - An unhealthy lifestyle is the cause of more than 93% of all chronic diseases worldwide. It also impacts your fertility and the success of the IVF process for you. So let us understand what “Lifestyle” is and how a good or bad lifestyle impacts your overall health and IVF success as well. The prominent aspect of “Lifestyle” includes food choices, physical exercise, and sleep patterns. Lifestyle includes more aspects like stress, your environment, and more. For now, let us concentrate on the top factors that we can alter and improve immediately – food, exercise, and sleep. If we have to be healthy, we need to make healthy food choices, need to do at least some form of physical exercise, and get sufficient sleep. Just like other diseases, an unhealthy lifestyle can be a cause of IVF failure as well. The three main lifestyle factors affect your fertility, and they are as follows: 1. Diet: According to a study, the patients who adhere to a more plant-based nutritious diet - full of vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, legumes, and whole grains, etc. had higher pregnancy rates and delivery rates. The ones who did not follow this kind of diet had a comparatively lesser pregnancy rate. Avoiding red meat and sweets also is a part of a healthy diet. Another indicative concept is to ensure your food 2. Smoking: When either of the partners smokes for many years, it impacts their fertility. If females smoke for long periods, it results in rapid loss of eggs and fertilization rates. Similarly, smoking by the male partner adversely affects the semen parameters and reduces the ability of the sperms to fertilize, and can also cause abortions. According to research at Curtin University, Australia, the first-trimester pregnancy miscarriage is related to male nicotine intake. So both partners should stop smoking before starting the IVF cycle, to improve the chances of success in in-vitro fertilization. 3. Alcohol: If couples want to increase the chances of success of IVF, then the women should stop drinking in the lead up to the IVF cycle. Alcohol has an adverse effect on the quality of the eggs. It is also thought to impact the hormones. Besides this, you should also maintain a healthy weight and manage your stress for ensuring the success of your IVF cycle. GarbhaGudi: Successfully helping childless couples through IVF treatment!

What is infertility
Infertility is not having the ability to conceive despite having frequent, unprotected sex for a minimum of a year for women aged less than 35 years or over six months if the woman is aged 35 or more. Both men and women are likely to possess fertility problems, one out of six couples in urban India face issues with infertility.
Causes for male infertility:
· Oligospermia (Low Sperm Count) It is estimated that a male should have an average sperm count above 15 million sperm per milliliter to be considered normal
· Abnormal sperm production or function because of genetic defects, undescended testicles, health problems like diabetes, or infections like chlamydia, gonorrhea, mumps, or HIV.
· Problems with the delivery of sperm because of structural problems, blockage within the testicle, sexual problems like premature ejaculation; certain genetic diseases, like cystic fibrosis, or damage or injury to the reproductive organs.
· A problem called varicocele -This happens when the veins on a man's testicle(s) are too large. This heats the testicles. The heat can affect the shape and number of sperms.
· Cigarette smoking, alcohol, marijuana, anabolic steroids, and taking medications to treat bacterial infections, hypertension, and depression can also affect fertility.
· Frequent exposure to heat, like in saunas or hot tubs (the raised body temperature can affect sperm production).
Causes of female infertility
· Ovulation disorders: Hormonal disorders like polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is the most common cause of infertility in women which is a condition caused by a hormonal imbalance that results in a series of small cysts on the ovaries. Other hormonal factors that impact the discharge of eggs from the ovaries are Hyperprolactinemia, a condition in which you've got an excessive amount of prolactin — the hormone that stimulates breast milk production also interferes with ovulation. Either an excessive amount of thyroid hormone (hyperthyroidism) or an insufficient thyroid hormone (hypothyroidism) can affect the cycle or cause infertility. PCOS is the most common of these, causing 70 percent of irregular ovulation-related infertility cases.
· Endometriosis: Endometriosis is a condition where the tissue that lines the uterus starts to grow in other places, like the ovaries, behind the uterus, or in the fallopian tubes causing blockages and preventing sperm and eggs to fertilize.
· Postponing pregnancy: Delaying pregnancy is a huge contributor to infertility. According to specialists, age is a growing cause of infertility. The peak reproductive age for a woman is in her 20s. Fertility (the ability to get pregnant) starts to decline in her 30s, once she reaches her mid-30s there is a rapid decline in fertility, getting pregnant naturally is unlikely for most women by age45.
· Uterine Fibroids: Non-cancerous (benign) tumors within the uterine wall (uterine fibroids) may cause infertility by blocking the fallopian tubes or stopping an embryo from implanting within the uterus.
· Inflammation of the Fallopian tube (salpingitis) can cause the blockage or it may damage the fallopian tube which is caused by pelvic disease, which in turn is caused by endometriosis, adhesions, or sexually transmitted diseases.
· Pelvic adhesions are bands of connective tissue that bind organs which will form after pelvic infection, appendicitis, endometriosis, or abdominal or pelvic surgery
· Primary ovarian insufficiency (early menopause): Primary ovarian insufficiency when the ovaries stop working and menstruation ends before age 40.
Infertility is a major problem and one can address these problems by getting in touch with the specialists in this field.

Why does hyperprolactinemia cause infertility?
Why does hyperprolactinemia cause infertility?
Prolactin is a hormone produced by the brain's pituitary gland. prolactin has different functions in the body but the most important of them is to regulate periods and stimulate the breasts to grow and produce milk after giving birth. Once the delivery is over the prolactin level increases which prepares the body for breastfeeding. Too much prolactin in a person's blood is called hyperprolactinemia an increased level of prolactin reduces estrogen and interferes with ovulation, causing irregular or absent periods affecting fertility. It causes women who are not pregnant to produce breast milk and can also lead to low bone density.
Causes of hyperprolactinemia
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding: there are increased levels of prolactin during pregnancy and is considered normal.
• prolactinoma: it is a non-cancerous growth in the pituitary gland which increases the production of prolactin
• Underactive thyroid or(hypothyroidism) and stress: Adrenaline and cortisol are stress hormones when coupled with increased intake of carbohydrates creates an imbalance in carbohydrate levels, because of the inactive thyroid the brain is stimulated to produce TSH(Thyroid-stimulating hormone) and prolactin which in turn reduces the estrogen affecting ovulation.
• Metabolic and hormonal conditions: any injury or damage to any other part of the body like diseases of the kidneys, liver, thyroid
• and reproductive disorders like PCOS and amenorrhea can cause hyperprolactinemia.
• Certain medications for conditions including depression and high blood pressure
• Overactive cells in the pituitary gland
Hyperprolactinemia is one of the common endocrinological disorders affecting fertility by causing anovulatory cycles, luteal phase defect, and sex hormone imbalances. Infertile females have a higher incidence of hyperprolactinemia. So estimation of serum prolactin should be done at an early stage of infertility workup which is cost-effective and causes better outcome Hyperprolactinemia is an absolutely treatable condition and it is possible to get pregnant if treated in time. It is best to approach an expert infertility specialist for restoring the hormone levels to normal so that conception becomes possible.

Endometrial Rejuvenation
Endometrial Rejuvenation a solution for
Women who struggle to become pregnant because of poor endometrial thickness, can now conceive naturally and give birth.
What is Endometrial Regeneration?
Pregnancy requires not just a healthy embryo, but also a healthy and mature endometrium, which ensures the implantation of the embryo and the onset of your long-awaited pregnancy. if the endometrium isn't thick enough, the embryo will simply not be able to attach to the wall of the uterus.
Endometrial Rejuvenation is the process to enhance quality of Endometrium for successful implantation of embryo by improving the endometrial thickness & blood supply which helps embryos for implantation giving them proper nutrition & hormones.
The membrane lining the uterus is called the endometrium, the endometrium thickens during the menstrual cycle in preparation for the implantation of an embryo. If the implantation has not occured the membrane is shed, Shedding and regenerating its functional layer once every cycle is the unique capacity of the healthy endometrium , which is regulated by the hormones, progenitor cell populations and inflammatory mediators. The functions of the endometrium are to make optimal conditions for implantation of an embryo within the uterus. However, if any of those factors are perturbed, the result will be endometrial disorders with intrauterine scar formation, dysregulated proliferation and heavy menstrual bleeding. Without a healthy endometrium, pregnancy is impossible.
The condition of the endometrium determines the likelihood of a successful pregnancy. If the endometrium is not thick enough, the embryo will simply not be able to attach to the wall of the uterus thus it plays an important role in successful pregnancy. The minimal endometrial thickness required for embryo transfer is about 7 mm at the end of natural or medically induced follicular phase
Which conditions need this treatment?
Poor endometrial thickness is the most common reasons for infertility .Constantly thin endometrium having thickness below 7 mm because of following conditions.
• Low levels of Estrogen hormone
•Trauma to the uterus (cesarean sections, repetitive curettage),
•Previous anti- tumoral treatments (radiotherapy, chemotherapy, surgery)
∙ Asherman's syndrome,( formation of adhesions (scar tissues) inside the endometrial cavity either post D&C or because of pelvic infections. )
• Chronic infections (Endometritis, Pelvic Inflammatory Disease)
• Conditions which cause inadequate blood flow (stress, malposition of uterus, fibrosis), • Clomiphene citrate -(a drug used for ovarian stimulation) if used excessively • Patients with low estradiol values
• Post hysteroscopic surgeries done for removal of polyps, fibroids & adhesions - mainly because of excessive use of electric cautery.
• Chronic Endometritis, polyps, endometrial hypoplasia,
• Uterine synechiae .
Who can have the benefit of this treatment?
• Women who have experienced several failed IVF programs because of the uterine factor. • Women who are diagnosed with Asherman´s syndrome.
• Women who are diagnosed with female infertility caused by uterine hypoplasia Treatment plans done for Endometrial Rejuvenation
-Several treatments are proposed over the years to enhance the endometrial thickening. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) has effect on endometrial cell proliferation, PRP increases proliferation not only on fibroblasts but also on mesenchymal cells, which are progenitors of various types of cells, including endometrial cells. Fresh whole blood collected from the same person is used to prepare Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) also called autologous PRP, which is processed to separate platelets from the other blood Components. Infusion of PRP into the uterus is seen to improve endometrial growth and implantation. Since autologous blood is used for PRP concerns regarding immunogenic reactions and disease transmission is eliminated.Patients considered for a PRP application must undergo hematological evaluation (blood tests) to exclude blood disorders or platelet dysfunction.Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells (BM-MSCs) provide an alternate source for regenerating the endometrium and repairing endometrial injury according to the recent studies.
- Supplements of Estrogen & Progesterone hormones.
-Granulocyte colony stimulating Factor (GCSF), a protein which stimulates bone marrow is infused into the uterus to produce more blood. Pretty effective, as it’s directly infused into uterus, the part which needs blood.
- Sub Cutaneous infusion of GCSF – the same as above, but instead of infusing into uterus, its injected in skin. It should be given in regulated quantity, because if an excessive amount of White Blood Cells (WBC) are pulled in reproductive organs, there might not be enough left in body to fight the infection.
- Vasoactive medicines like aspirin, vitamin E, l-arginine, sildenafil. These activate the blood vessels to extend flow towards uterus, endometrium.
- Intrauterine infusion of Platlet Rich Plasma during which patient’s own plasma is extracted from her body, enriched with platelets then infused back to uterus.
- A new research giving good results in improvement of Endometrial Thickness is perivascular stem cell therapy. It can generate endometrial cells. However its still in research stage.
- Hysteroscopy is done for diagnosis of endometrial infection, removal of fibroids, polyps, adhesions to enhance the endometrial surface quality & then Endometrial Rejuvenation Programme is started till the time effective results are achieved.
- To avoid post-surgical adhesions & improvement of cell growth in endometrial tissue, Intra-Uterine Contraceptive Device (IUCD) is kept in few cases.
- Associated treatment to enhance blood supply of Endometrium include acupuncture, stress management, Exercise, Nutrition plan, yoga, Fertility message, castor oil packs.
Success factors
Endometrial Rejuvenation Treatment is successful if:
1 - Endometrial Thickness above 9 mm with good blood supply is formed after treatment. 2 - There is Sub-endometrial blood supply up to Zone 4( the zone which is closest to the embryo).
Doctors and biotechnologists have developed an innovative and extremely effective treatment to resolve the problem of poor endometrial health. Endometrial Rejuvenation Treatment helps successful embryo implantation. The pregnancy is achieved through Natural Fertilization, and if that doesn't work IVF and IUI is done. Endometrial regeneration provides a true alternative to surrogacy for ladies who suffer from infertility because of uterine factors – who struggle with conditions like Asherman's syndrome, endometrial hypoplasia, uterine synechiae and poor endometrial thickness.
