Even though most of Aloy’s exploration dialogue reflects on how tough nature can be, I feel like she has an unspoken love for the world, same as the player. So I’d be delighted if the sequel included lines where she’s just soaking up the spectacle. That she’s grown more relaxed and as her feet wander, so too does her mind. Something like this. ‘u’

It's Friday evening, how about some headcanons?

This scene, right?

I’ve seen debates on Reddit and elsewhere about who the sarcophagus might be and I’m of the firm opinion this is Regalla whether her body is actually in there or not. I say this because it makes the most narrative sense but mostly because of who shows up to the funeral:

I noticed the same group of Sky Clan soldiers with Kotallo through multiple playthroughs. Unless they’re randomly swapped and I’ve never seen it, I can only conclude that this sarcophagus is not a representation of the fallen Embassy Marshals (I think we would see Lowland and Desert Tenakth here too if that were the case)

Therefore, my headcanon is that Hekarro wanted to hold a proper funeral for Regalla, and no one wanted to show up (not even those from her former Desert Clan). So, Kotallo, having the upmost respect for Hekarro, convinced Sky Clan comrades to come, for Hekarro’s sake.

And if you don’t believe Hekarro would do this for Regalla, consider his expressions when he asks Aloy to decide her fate:

He doesn’t want to have to do this at all.

If you decide to spare and recruit her, he vouches for her character when Kotallo protests her going to the Base alone:

"Despite all that she's done, she's never been one to break her word."

If you decide to kill her, he shows his respect:

Hekarro never really comes off as angry at Regalla at all, and I don't think it's just because of her longtime loyalty to him, I think he understands her worldview and need for revenge whether he agrees with it or not.

I love how they portray Hekarro in HFW. Like they hype him up to be the scariest man to have ever lived, and in many ways, he is. There is a certain reverence that even Fashav carries for him. But when you finally meet him, he isn't terrifying. He knows how to posture himself, and he is concise when he speaks. Yet he also steps down from his throne and comes to Aloy's level. He asks her for help to keep his people safe, he even takes Aloy's threat of challenging him in good humour. It shows that while he is an intimidating figure, he is only human. That he has a softer side in addition to how he presents himself as the Chief.

Even how he dresses shows this! The spikes on his cape are pointed downward, in the same way they would be on a porcupine or a similar creature - in self-defence. There are other spikes on his armour that - while mostly decorative - would require you to invade his person space for them to be effective. Then there's the use of fur on his armour! While minimal, it provides a softer edge, especially on his cape and his right pauldron. His armour is a perfect representation of his character; a strong, fierce Tenakth warrior who cares deeply about his people.
