Ford's arc in the Book of Bill is literally how he overcame the trauma of the abusive ex-partner who ruined his life, and how Ford learned to not be consumed by that fear through the help of his family and IF I NEED TO BE THE ONLY ONE WRITING TUMBLR THINKPIECES ON IT, I'LL DO IT, BUT WHY AREN'T MORE PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT THIS?!?!?!?!?!
Bill literally lays out how he preyed on Ford's insecurities and his quirks, how he saw Ford as the perfect candidate for Bill to take full advantage of, and how Bill purposefully did what he could to convince Ford that NO ONE ELSE WOULD LOVE HIM if he got rid of Bill, that he was nothing without him.
And it's the story of how Ford overcame, how Ford shot Bill with a shotgun and spat on the ground where he stood, how Ford does everything he can to warn the reader before realizing that Bill is not an all-powerful being to be feared, but a sad pathetic man. Bill is charismatic, but he's not a god. He's just someone Ford can leave behind.
It's not even subtext, it's text. It's a story told with queer undertones, with the language of abuse built in. AND NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT THIS?

Dipper and Mabel go back to California and discover that almost nothing on Gravity Falls tv is available outside of Gravity Falls.
Ducktective does not exist outside of Gravity Falls.
None of the silly monster movies exist.
It’s a crushing realisation. And a mystery to solve.
Eventually, with Fords help, they work out that Gravity Falls is picking up trans-dimensional tv signals and all their tv channels are local or coming through wormholes.
Stan starts recording their favourite shows and movies on VHS/VCR right away and mailing them to California.

“Bill fumbled so bad” No, FORD fumbled. Fiddleford left his wife, his son, his home to live with Ford and create experiments together. He gave Ford two handmade christmas gifts and forgot to get his wife anything. He went back to Gravity Falls and saved Ford from Krampus after fighting with his wife.
And Ford still wanted to fuck the triangle.
#fidds#ford#fiddauth#IT DOES seem like fidds was setting up to leave his family and mightve done so if things had gone smoother#aka if ford was never obsessed with bill

does anyone else have the headcanon that the level of control we see stan having over his mindscape (stan being able to talk to dipper in a memory, stan being able to make his memories into a giant labyrinth and seemingly able to perfectly hide most of the ford memories from everyone else) is, like, exclusive to him?
of course ford would know how to control and shape his own mindscape thanks to previous coaching from his Muse, but, like, stan has had to live a billion lives as fake identities. i headcanon that the mental discipline required to keep his story straight that many times allowed him to build a really thorough and hard-to-navigate mindscape, as well as suppress it all near-instantly in weirdmageddon 3 in order to trick bill
all this to say. i think if you went in soos or wendy’s mindscape and tried to do the same thing dipper did by talking to their memories, their memories would probably start screaming hysterically about being told they’re a memory and the gang would realize that stan is an outlier.
#i also think that stan has incredible mental fortitude from years of quick and clever thinking out of survival#hes gone through more pain and anguish than the average person without therapy or talking to anyone about it ever#so in theory he had to become his own therapist and fortify his mind so he could keep it together#oh stanley#rambling

the Pines family somehow fits in the ‘found family’ trope despite being biologically family and that can be something so personal

so glad that gravity falls is back so we can finally discuss how ford sees himself as the protagonist of every story while stan can’t see himself as anything but the antagonist

When Mabel comes out to Stan, she’s really scared that he’s going to reject her and have an issue with it, so she’s emotional and asks him if he still loves and supports her and he’s just like “??? Kid I’ve been telling you all summer I’m one of the LBTGs” and then it’s her turn to be like “wait what??” because she thinks he had never mentioned a sexuality before, and it turns out Stan had been constantly telling the kids that he’s “ambidextrous” because he thought it meant the same thing as bisexual.
