Video Games vs Lit: An introduction
Over the last 600+ years, literature has changed significantly, from becoming more accessible to taking the form of a game on a screen, literature doesn鈥檛 have to be just books and walls of text. After all, the function of literature is to connect people and bring them closer, and that is exactly what video games do and have done since their inception so many years ago. They connect people by literally supporting multiplayer functions, by challenging people to work with each other to overcome challenges and have made people think and reflect and think again about strategies, etc, bring people closer every time someone achieves something new. We all know the classic scene of all the kids crowding around the one kid who is about to beat the high score or finish a really difficult game and how that kid, out of nowhere becomes extremely well known. That is what literature does and video games do the same; they connect the unlikeliest of people and create communities around them.聽
