Epilogue

(Notes: I decided to post this after this was sitting in my google docs for a while. I have a few chapters done but no ending yet. I’m a bit of an amateur so please let me know if something needs to be corrected)

Legend speaks of a valley bathed in the twilight of the setting and rising sun. Anyone who knows of such a place called it the Feywilds. The Feywilds is home to pure unrestrained nature and diverse creatures, called fey, untouched by the outside world.

Its magical creatures were divided between two godlike archfey queens. Titania the summer queen, ruled all the creatures that represented her image of goodness and the beauty of their surroundings. These were called the Seelie fey. Meanwhile, the Queen of air and darkness ruled the Unseelie fey. The unseelie fey were very untrustworthy and evilly aligned creatures that wrecked havoc any moment they got to anyone unlucky enough.

The rivalry between the two queens was never ending and it caused outsiders to cast caution when entering the plane of Faerie. The seelie fey were not immune to the unseelie and would stay out of the way of the no-good fey creatures while helping any travelers seeking to cross.

Harengon, one of the seelie fey, were masters of luck and were envied by other fey for their feats. They were often the target of curses and trickery alike by other fey to throw off the power they held for their greedy reasons.

So when a Harengon with antlers of a deer was born they were put off by what this could mean to their village.

I feel my heart beat fast as my long ears are filled with loud angry noises all around me. I slightly grimace as a stick is pushed into my chest almost knocking me over due to the heavy gray backpack on my back. My black-furred but small hands grip the backpack as I try to settle my senses and my balance. Through tear-stained eyes, I looked to the elder of my village before shifting to my mom who was crying into her hands, her grey fur also stained with tears that showed the fact that she was crying almost all night until now. I curse the horns that sprouted from my forehead for causing my mom so much hurt.

“Demon!” a raspy voice cries out as I feel a rock hit the already bleeding fur on my arm. I feel another rock hit my cheek, leaving a slight mark on it.

“Such a child shouldn’t even be alive!”

I try to ignore the shouts as I take a step back from the elder, shielding myself from any more attacks from my kind. The pepper-gray elder stabbed the ground with his staff loudly, glaring down at me.

“Go child and never come back to these lands” he huffed in a harsh tone.

I turn my back on the village I once called home as I try my best to walk into the dark forests of Feydark. I pray to whatever is watching over me that I don’t fall prey to whatever is lurking in the gloomy woods, blinking my red eyes as much as I can to keep from crying more.
