I have, I was about to say I had some but then realised I was misremembering "die-cast" as diaclone (it's two small metal figs, one of Godzilla, one of Shimo. Saw the whole 4-set in a store once and so I bought the only two kaiju that mattered).

The 'Abstract Daddy' boss fight in the Silent Hill remake is so AWFUL

By which I mean they understood the assignment and made it everything it could've been and more.

I could go on, but that is the first time I've felt genuinely upset, from the tv's with the broken voice where you could hear just enough to know what was being said and that it was dreadful to the painfully sad and distressing 'safe room' to the new 'homely' setting as it slowly crumbles.

Well done Bloober, everyone had low hopes after the initial peek but that boss fight alone eurgh

New movie inspired me to put my two cents in on this trope.

To TL;DR it as much as possible, the different series from tv shows to comics often tend to be their own contained universes with different origins for characters.

It's only in the "Bayverse" Movies Optimus and Megatron are 'brothers' pre-war but (man it's been a while since I watched those films) it's more 'brothers in arms' than familial brothers I think.

Usually they're completely different people who only really meet during the war as mortal enemies, each leaders of the warring factions going against each other, though in some they have run-ins with each other before then (With G1/the original cartoon having their first 'pre-war' meeting being Megatron taking advantage of the naïve kid and attempting to kill him when he stopped being useful/got in the way).

Only recently (Transformers: Prime started it I think, I lose track of comics) did a narrative of them being friends before the war started. Unfortunately so did the poor writing regarding it (as it usually only acts to be a "Ohhh Optimus can't kill Megatron they were friends once! It'd be messed up! He wants to save/help his friend if he can!" thing meanwhile Megatron is just... y'know, being a genocidal warlord killing hundreds of people, over anything.. interesting with the idea, though I personally don't think there's much that can be done with it as personally, even if they were my childhood bestest buddy, I'd drop someone like a sack of shit if they started killing people and became an actual fucking tyrant.).

Watched Alien: Romulus, had some thoughts

spoilers obviously, so under the read more

Yeah we were all too harsh on the ending of Alien Resurrection/Alien 4.

I mean firstly I want to praise all the practical effects, outstanding stuff, will always beat CG for me.

But the Offspring (the credits referred to it as such) felt... bad. The actor did great as were the special/costume effects but...

We get a build up to it, we know it's coming, the groundwork had been laid out... and there it is... some generic creepypasta "oooh tall pale slender man with black eyes!" looking fella with some xeno-y features on its back. Let down.

Then all it did was attack and kill, even it's own mother, it just hiss hiss kill kill. Just, yeah okay.

Meanwhile the Newborn in Alien 4? It had such a unique look to it, and it also looked... pathetic. It looked sad, but it wasn't weak it proved that almost immediately but it still LOOKED weak, it also looked (imo) cute, something about it's twitching nose and the wide range of vocalisations and chirps it made. It wasn't all "hiss hiss roar roar".

It also wasn't all "kill kill" either. It saw Ripley as it's mother and tried to hug her and get close to her, it wanted her touch and comfort. It was actually like a newborn child.

The Newborn having these calmer and gentle moments where it SEEMS like it could be... reasoned with... could be tamed. Moments where it actually seemed to behave like the 'newborn infant' it was. It made it eerier.

It was just done much better in 4.
