Nova stared at her for a moment, blinking a few times in shock. She was just helping her out...? Could she trust this? Then again it’s not like she really had a choice in this either way. All of her options were pretty bad so she might as well go with her.
“O-Oh, yeah.” she slowly nodded, turning to follow her. “Um, thanks...” she added on as she took a few steps after her.
A Small Miscalculation | Nova & Lucina
“It certainly won’t be a problem. If you’ll follow me, I’ll show you the way out.” She walked around the girl, hiding a tiny smile as she made her way toward the exit. The Pokemon followed silently, Balere jumping a little along the way. Tonight certainly going the way she expected, but at least she wasn’t quite so out of things to do.
“Are you coming?

As Orelia sat back at her desk she took another glance at the paper with feigned interest. It was more out of a way to distract herself from the grunt’s enthusiasm, which began to steadily irritate her. This job required no zeal once the realisation that your life was a mess had hit.
“Hmm.” Might as well take a look at the missions and get this over and done with. “There’s several, since I haven’t called in anyone else yet. Small delivery, steal a Sinnoh mythology book, and… oh.”
The details of a particular mission made the corners of her mouth quirk. Not many grunts had the chance to get involved, and even less had the capability for it. Maybe it’d be a good test for Nova. Most weren’t exactly keen to get their hands really dirty and steal an ancient artefact, but took her a few seconds to notice the date which was far from the current time. It was too early to assign it.
“That can wait,” Orelia lifted a hand to her chin and covered her mouth, voice muffled as she spoke. “You have the choice of those two, or steal a few Pokemon. Pick something and get on with it.”
Nova perked up a bit when her superior had seemed surprised, her eyebrows coming together in worry when she dismissed it. Was she not ready...? No, she had to be ready!
“U-Uhm... I wouldn’t mind doing whatever needs to be done but... what was that about something that can wait?” she asked, holding her hands together in front of her. “I-I bet I can do it! You can trust me with it!” she added on, smiling a bit.
“I’ve been training and I know I’m ready to take on the harder stuff. J-Just tell me what it is and I’ll do it, no matter what!” she responded, moving her hands to her hips as she puffed out her chest a bit. In realty she was actually a bit scared that whatever the mission was might actually be too hard for her but she couldn’t show her superior fear!
“Really though... you don’t have to be afraid to give me something difficult... I got it.” she repeated, calmer this time.

♔ — At her display of faux strength, Nick’s uncovered eye widened ever so slightly, hand hesitating as he reached the pokéball on his belt. If this girl, whoever she was, was so determined to come across as mighty and powerful, then who would he be to get in the way of that?
Reaching a hand up to cover his mouth, the elite let out a dramatic gasp, grin widening tenfold.
“Are you a Champion?” He asked, leaning closer. “If you can take anyone, that must make you a Champion, right? How impressive!”
“Well... N-no. That’s just cause... I- I don’t have time for stuff like that.” Nova muttered, looking away with a blush. She had really dug herself into a hole here...
“I-In fact I really don’t even have time to be here at all. Why am I even wasting my air on you, y-y’know?” she shrugged, forcing a fake smirk onto her face. “I have better things I ought to be getting to.” she mumbled.
“So uh, yeah. I should probably be going. Important... stuff..... waiting......”

Nova let out a small gasp, her eyes widening a bit as he seemed to accept her challenge. Did that mean he thought he could take her? Maybe he was bluffing to...? The stakes were getting a little high if she assumed both of them were lying. Surely it made sense for one of them to be telling the truth and she knew it wasn’t her.
It was when he seemed to see through her lie that she stiffened, gritting her teeth together angrily. “N-No. Why would I lie about my strength? I... I can take anyone. In fact... you probably aren’t even worth my time.” she muttered, crossing her arms and glancing away.
Maybe if she was lucky she could just weasel out of this and avoid the fight all together... It was a gamble but wasn’t everything she had done so far?
Traveling Around | Nova & Nick
♔ — His straightened stance as he gave the salute quickly crumbled, shoulders hunching as he let out a fit of giggles. Take him down? Was her pride so damaged in a little joke that she felt the need to threaten him with a fight? Nick wasn’t the type to brag about his status no matter how noteworthy it may have been, but for what he lacked in stature (and perhaps maybe sanity) he certainly made up for in skill.
Peering up at the girl, his laughter slowly died away, leaving behind only a wide, toothy grin as he reached for a single pokéball situated on a leather holster attached to his belt.
“Easy now, no need to resort to violence. I take my battle requests very seriously, though…” There was a moments pause, and the purple-haired trainer’s expression switched to one of faux innocence. “Unless, you’re lying to make yourself seem more tough. Which would be an awful shame.”

Oh, good! So she hadn’t been hearing things! Well that was a relief. She let a small smile appear for a moment before straightening her expression again as she readied herself for her assignment.
“Alright.” she nodded, trying to standing straighter-- if that was even possible. “What’s the mission? I’ll accept immediately!” she responded, possibly showing a little too much enthusiasm.
She wanted to impress the higher ranking members so much that she often over acted and ended up looking less serious than she had originally intended. In reality just acting normal probably would’ve shown how serious she took everything but she didn’t seem to understand this yet.
Mission Control | Nova & Orelia
Paperwork appeared to be piling up at an alarming rate on Orelia’s desk. Report after report, constant incoming notices and far too many interruptions. Patience wearing thin, she felt the urge to get up, slam her office door shut and lock it. Her back ached and as she went to stand a sheet was left silently.
Sighing, she picked it up and gave a once-over. It was covered in ridiculously long lists containing names and missions. Some were highlighted in fluorescent yellow. She decided to go from the start and work her way down, beginning with a grunt and immediately recognised the name. She’d seen the girl several times but as many authoritative figures do, had never gone out of her way to get to know her.
Orelia called out flatly. “Nova Baldwin.”
Rapid footsteps were heard and she went to leave her office, soon colliding with someone a few metres past the doorway. Nova stood, saluted quickly and addressed her. Inwardly cringing, the woman hoped that Team Galactic would soon rid themselves of the embarrassing planetary titles. Orelia took a step back and inspected her for a moment before turning to enter her office.
“I did call. It seems you’re wanted for a mission.”

“Right... Um... I mean I guess I got this far by myself. I can probably find my way back...” Nova mumbled, glancing away. Although as much as she hated to admit it (due to how much this girl terrified her) she knew it’d be easier to have her around on the way out.
“But um... I mean... if you’re not doing anything right now... I wouldn’t um... object to you showing me the way out...” she added on, dragging her boot against the floor as she bit her lip.
A Small Miscalculation | Nova & Lucina
“Very well. I suppose if you don’t know your purpose there’s no point in being here. Leave here. And be safe on your journey back.” The Ghost types visibly calmed as Lucina’s smile fell. “I don’t suppose you’ll need an escort toward the way out..?”

Damn. She’d been seen through... Her grip tightened on her Glameow’s pokeball, her face hardening.
“Alright... I’m gonna be honest. Like... really honest for a sec. I really have no idea what I’m doing here. One of my superiors sent me here to check out... something but they didn’t tell me what.” she explained with a small frown.
“I’m... really sorry for disturbing you. I-If you let me go now I’ll leave. Honest. This whole region is just so confusion and hot... I just wanna go home.”
A Small Miscalculation | Nova & Lucina
“Well, I suppose we’re just going to have to head back in the direction of the houses. Don’t worry. I’ll help you. Or if you like, you can tell me why a Team Galactic member is here in the Hoenn region. I’ve been awful curious since we started our little game here.” Balere let out a hiss as she approached, but a stern look from Lucina calmed the Lopunny. The Pokemon circled around the two girls.

Nova scowled a bit at his blatant response. Of course he was walking. Did he take her for some kind of idiot...? Clearly she meant what he was doing around here. However, upon hearing his second respond her face turned to one of shock.
What... what was with that posture? And the sudden salute... Was he mocking her? Oh he was absolutely mocking her, wasn’t he? Well she wasn’t going to stand for that!
“C-Cut it out!” she snapped, making an uncomfortable face at him. “You’re trying to be funny b-but I’ll have you know I can take you down if I need to!” she threatened, hoping that she could be intimidating enough for him to buy that bluff.
Maybe if she was lucky it wasn’t a bluff. Maybe he was just a weirdo with no skills for battling. Wouldn’t that be great? A girl could dream.
Traveling Around | Nova & Nick
♔ — Nick’s brows raised in mild surprise as she demanded to know the reason behind his presence, before furrowing in confusion once more. A quick glance behind him showed nothing more than a dirt path on an otherwise empty route, surrounded by nothing but trees. What else could he be doing?
“Walking?” He answered simply, standing upright once more when the girl pushed herself up from the ground, flashing a wide smile at her somewhat annoyed expression, which seemed to grow stronger by the second. State his business? Who on earth did she think she was, his boss?
Oh, this was too good.
“Yes ma’am!” Placing a hand to his forehead in mock salute, the trainer decided to simply play along with her sudden bold, tough appearance, though the grin on his face made it clear he wasn’t taking any of this seriously at all. “Making my way to the nearest town, ma’am!”

“Right...” Nova nodded, glancing away in worry. What was she supposed to do now? Pretend she really did live around here or just come out and say she’d been lying this whole time? Maybe if she pretended to be really lost she’d just give up on her...
“O-Oh, no. Nothing’s wrong! Um... y’see... the thing is just... u-um.... I didn’t want to admit it because it’s kind of embarrassing but I’m really lost. Like... seriously lost. I thought I could just wander around until I got my bearings but then I ran into you and... yeah... I really have no clue where home is from here...”
A Small Miscalculation | Nova & Lucina
“I don’t mind long distances and tonight has such a lovely breeze, a walk would be nice. I don’t mind helping you on the way home. And if I can repeat myself without sounding like a broken record, there’s no telling what kind of wild Pokemon can be roaming around. An escort would be helpful in case you get attacked.” Lucina tilted her head as she noticed the glimmer of sweat. “Is something wrong? You seem awfully nervous.”

Mission Control | Nova & Orelia
Nova rushed down the hallway, quite positive that she had heard one of her superiors call for her. She whipped around corners, skidding to a halt before the doorway, nearly whacking into the person who she had been looking for.
“Ah--” she gasped, taking a small step back, as to give the commander her personal space. “Commander Venus! Sorry It took me so long to get here. You called?” she asked, tilting her head a bit as she gave her a small salute.
Although, now that she was standing before her she had the nagging feeling that perhaps she had just imagined hearing her name called. It wouldn’t be the first time she was sure she was needed somewhere only to find out that no one had called for her.
She really hoped she was needed... It was nice to go on missions and not so nice to make a fool out of herself by mishearing her commander’s words.

Oh she was dead meat, wasn’t she? Nova’s hands instinctively went to the pokeball at her side, resting there should she need Glameow. She knew she had a type advantage but these pokemon seemed much stronger than hers...
“I-It’s fine really... I can handle myself. P-Plus my house is kinda far from here...” she replied, swallowing heavily. She was starting to sweat. “I-I’ll just retrace my steps and find my way out. I’m sorry for bothering you.”
A Small Miscalculation | Nova & Lucina
”Nonsense. What kind of person would I be if I let you walk back alone this late? Please allow me to accompany you back to your dwelling. After all, there’s no telling what kind of things are out this late… “ She smiled sweetly (a little too sweet) as she picked up Lydia, the Banette’s eyes glowing dimly in what little moonlight there was. Balere, Zorion and the others loomed nearby, their red colored eyes glowing as well.
“I insist.”

“O-Oh, the gardens? Wow, I musta really wandered off the trail...” Nova laughed awkwardly, casually crossing her arms over her chest to try and hide the giant ‘G’ printed on her uniform.
“Um, I really didn’t have a set destination in mind really... I was just kinda seeing the sights, y’know?” she gave a small shrug. Taking a small step back. “Um... if you could just point me in the direction outta here I can take myself home... I don’t wanna make you go outta your way to help me...”
A Small Miscalculation | Nova & Lucina
“You’re in the gardens. Where is it you’re heading?” Lucina asked, raising an eyebrow questionably. It was unusual for anyone to be out this late, and something about the other girl seemed a little off. Even the Pokemon were giving the other girl odd looks. “I’ll help you find where you’re going.”

Damn, she’d been noticed...
Nova glanced away, biting her lip in thought as she tried to come up with some sort of believable lie. “Um... Sorry. I got lost.” she mumbled, giving her a small smile.
“I was taking a late night stroll and I guess I took a few wrong turns...? Haha.... D’you know where I am?” she asked, hoping that she’d believe it. If she didn’t she didn’t know what other choice she had than to run and hope that she could get away.
A Small Miscalculation | Nova & Lucina
Lydia and Balere danced around, rough housing gently as the others floated around idly. It was Zorion and his single eye staring out into a dark space that drew the small girl’s attention to a tuft of pale hair sticking out. Lucina tilted her head and the Pokemon stopped playing. “Hello? May I ask what you’re doing here so late?” She called out, red eyes focused on that pale hair for movement.

“N-Nothing!” Nova sputtered, scrambling to her knees. She back away from him, narrowing her eyes angrily. Damnit, she had been doing so good too...! “What’re you doing here?!” she snapped, trying t turn the conversation away from herself and onto him. If she couldn’t trail him she could at least interrogate him.
She moved to stand up, angrily brushing the dirt from her clothes as she sized him up. She could probably take him. At least if it came down to an actual scuffle. She had no clue what kind of pokemon this guy had so she wouldn’t jump to that conclusion. If it weren’t for the fact that he looked so weird she might’ve just challenged him now but if there’s one thing she knew it was the weird ones always had the powerful pokemon.
“I’ve never seen you around here before.” she continued, crossing her arms as she puffed out her chest a bit to appear more intimidating. “I know everyone in this area and you’ve never passed by before... So state your business!” she continued loudly. She was sure if she acted tough enough that he’d believe she was stronger than she actually was. It was a good enough plan, right? After all she had to bounce back from literally falling on her face in front of him.
On the downside that he didn’t believe that she could always just challenge him and hope for the best... Or she could always run. As much as it hurt her pride she knew she was pretty good and turning tail and getting away from whatever danger she had most likely gotten herself into.
Traveling Around | Nova & Nick
♔ — Traveling was usually Nick’s first option whenever he had time off from his duties at the League, breaking away from Hoenn’s Ever Grande City in search of a change of scenery.
It was a spur of the moment decision, really. With a lack of any pokémon with the ability to personally transport him, the poison specialist had made his way to the nearest port and purchased a last-minute ticket for the boat which would be leaving next – resulting in a return trip to Sinnoh.
A lot of time had passed since Nick was last able to visit the region, but it was as though barely anything had changed since his last trip. Grin wide as he made his way down one of many old routes surrounded by trees, the nostalgic memories of past travels before he had the responsibility of the League on his shoulders clouded his mind, lost in his own little world as he made his way along the dirt path. But such thoughts would be short lived, it seemed, as a distraction in the form of a clumsy young lady came crashing (quite literally) into view.
“Oh?” Stopping in his tracks, the elite trainer raised his brows in confusion, a single scarlet-coloured eye peering down at the girl who seemed to grow increasingly flustered from being caught in such an embarrassing position, no doubt.
Crouching down, the purple-haired man placed his chin in his hands, elbows resting against his knees as he voiced his thoughts, head tilted ever so slightly to the side.
“What are you doing down there?”

A Small Miscalculation | Nova & Lucina
Nova breathed heavily, trying to calm herself down. She bit her lip, turning the corner quickly as she headed down the path. She was in Hoenn, actually her first time there but she didn’t have time to admire the sights-- or complain about how hot it was. She was on a mission and a very important one by how her boss had worded it.
Ever Grande City certainly lived up to its name and she was amazed that she had managed to sneak this far past the guards. She hated how her hair and uniform stuck out, ruining the whole affect of sneaking around in the dark. Although she was doing pretty good so far.
Just a little further and she’d reach the room she had been told to investigate. She wasn’t even sure why she was investigating it. Just that it was extremely important she do so. What she hadn’t been expecting though was for some to be in the room at this hour.
She jolted to a halt when she noticed the girl, her eyes going wide as she stood there in complete shock. She hadn’t counted on anyone being awake at this hour! Maybe... Maybe she hadn’t been noticed yet? She could sneak out now and wait for the girl to leave but at the cost of having to make it this far again...!
Whatever she did it had to be fast...

Foreign Encounter | Nova & Ziarae
She should've never taken this job.
Nova wandered down the route, squinting at the map she had been given by one of her superiors. She was on in a research mission in Kalos of all places, still confused on what their plans had to do with the region exactly but not questioning it. If she wanted to move up in her team she had to do what was asked of her.... and what was asked of her was in a region she had barely even heard of before now.
“I don’t even know where I am... Am I even holding this right?” she muttered to herself as she turned the map a few times, trying to figure out where the top was and where she was in relation to that. The sun was above her so its not even as if she knew what direction she was headed. This was useless!
She gave an over exaggerated sigh, shoving the map angrily back into the pocket of her trench coat. She hated having to wear the giant thing over her uniform but she had no idea what the people of Kalos thought of Team Galatic so it was best to be safe... She hadn’t even noticed someone else on the route until she had bumped into them, letting out a surprised gasp.
“Ah-- geez. Sorry.” she apologized, taking a step back. She didn’t recognize the person she had bumped into but why would she? Even though she didn’t recognize her... she felt like she was someone important. It was just something about the way she held herself that made Nova feel uneasy about having bumped into her.
